Harold Lloyd Veach

Harold Lloyd Veach, Bowlegs, died Tuesday at his home. He was 61.

Veach was born on Oct. 30, 1937, in Wynnewood, to E.A. and Bessie (Hendricks) Veach.

He married Paula Marie Webster on Dec. 24, 1966, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He worked in the oil field and was affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.

Veach was preceded in death by his parents, E.A. and Bessie Veach; a daughter, Myra M. Wilfong; two sons, Markel M. Wilfong; Sean E. Veach; and a sister, Barbara Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Paula M. Veach, of the home; three sons, Michael M. Worley and Mitchell M. Worley, both of Seminole; Starland L. Veach, Bowlegs; two daughters, Sabre L. Dixon, Ada; Kristina M. Veach, of the home; five brothers, James V. Veach, Choctaw; Darrell Veach, Bowlegs; Larry D. Veach, Bartlesville; Albert Veach, Pampa, Texas; Arron Veach, Seminole; a sister, Evelyn Marie Hadley, Bartlesville; and 18 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, in Little Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Robertson Jr. officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Olan Woodrow Allen

Shawnee resident Olan "Woody" Woodrow Allen died Monday at his home. He was 84.

Allen was born on Sept. 22, 1914, in Wewoka, to Uriah Soloman and Lena (Ladd) Allen.

He attended Wewoka Public Schools and worked as an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base before retiring in 1974.

He married Ruth Marie Addison in Okmulgee.

Allen served with the U.S. Army 160th Field Artillery during World War II and received three bronze service stars.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Uriah and Lena Allen; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Marie Allen, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Olan Jr. and Glenda Allen, Santa Clara, Calif.; Johnnie David and Pat Allen, Overland Park, Kan.; Denver Jay and Carolyn Allen, Shawnee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrie and Dale Smith, Renton, Wash.; Kathryn Kay and Dean Sheesley, Moore; three sisters, Ruby Sharum, Orange, Calif.; Wilma Neal, Wewoka; Alice Carter, Eugene, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today, in Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, with Minister Doris Weisser officiating.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Edessa L. Quinn

Edessa L. Quinn, Yukon, died Tuesday in a Yukon nursing home. She was 91.

Mrs. Quinn was born on Sept. 18, 1908, near Chandler, to Lloyd and Mary Grandstaff.

She was a graduate of McLoud High School and earned a bachelor's degree in education from East Central University in Ada.

She married Donley Quinn.

Mrs. Quinn taught elementary school in Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties for more than 30 years. She had retired from Macomb Schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donley Quinn; her parents, Lloyd and Mary Grandstaff; and a brother Frank Grandstaff.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Lea and Bill Deason, Yukon; four grandchildren, Paula Martin, Terry Deason, Tommy Deason and Stephanie Deason; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating.

Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Jewell T. (Haney) Arnold

Jewell T. (Haney) Arnold, Seminole, died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Arnold was born on Sept. 8, 1917, in Arkansas, to Bryan and Delphia (Haskell) Haney.

She married Hoyt E. Arnold on July 28, 1954, in Oklahoma City.

She worked as a medical arts laboratory technician in Oklahoma City before retiring in 1977.

She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and active in the Women's Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt E. Arnold; her parents, Bryan and Delphia Haney; a sister; and a brother.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby Willis, Irving, Texas; Jerry W. Willis and Charles Willis, both of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Bonnie Eskew, Sparta, Tenn.; four brothers, Millard Haney, Lodo, Calif.; Chester Haney, Alvord, Texas; Arthur Haney, Edmond; Ray Dean Haney, Grand Prairie, Texas; a sister, Nita Haney Ray, Edmond; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Seminole with the Rev. David McDougal and the Rev. Allen Wood officiating.

Burial will be in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Wilma M. Smith

Wilma M. Smith, Shawnee, died Monday in a local hospital. She was 66.

Mrs. Smith was born on April 27, 1933, in Sparks, the daughter of Marion Osburn and Allie A. (Morgan) Osburn.

She married Hartsell V. Smith.

She worked in childcare and later was a manager at Dollar General in Shawnee for 20 years.

She was a member of the Northridge Church of Christ and supported Operation Christmas.

Survivors include a brother, Samuel L. Osburn; and a niece, Tajuana Brooks.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Northridge Church of Christ, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Thelma Rose (Scarbrough) Tubbs

Thelma Rose (Scarbrough) Tubbs, died Sunday. She was 93.

Services are set for 10:30 a.m. today at Dale Cemetery under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore.

She was born Feb. 13, 1906, in Tribbey to Charles Edward Scarbrough and Nora Lee (Giddens) Scarbrough. She was married Aug. 22, 1925, to Orlie Lester Tubbs in Cromwell.

She was retired from Tinker Air Force Base after about 28 years of service.

Mrs. Tubbs was preceded in death by her husband, Orlie; parents, Charles and Nora Lee Scarbrough; son, A.L. Tubbs; six sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Dr. Maurice Nickell, Midwest City, and Corinne and Pastor Harry Boydstun Sr., Newcastle; 19 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; a sister, Wayne Tenan, Russell, Kan.
