Dorothy A. Zimmermann

Former Shawnee resident Dorothy A. Zimmermann died Saturday in Austin, Texas, at the age of 73.

She was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Shawnee to Floyd and Katherine Higley. She was a longtime member of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin where she had been director of young adults Sunday school, and she was active in the Assistance League of Austin.

Surviving are her son, Craig Zimmermann, Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Richard Vague, Wilmington, Del.; brother, Richard Higley, Amarillo, Texas, and grandchildren, Lauren, Eric and Davis Vague.

Her husband, Karl F. Zimmermann, preceded her in death.

Memorial service was Monday at Hyde Park Baptist Church, Austin, Texas, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Smith officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Austin. Memorial donations may be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church Young Adults, Austin, Texas.

Orval Cleo Casteel

Orval Cleo Casteel of Earlsboro died Sunday at his home at the age of 80.

He was born April 15, 1918, in Seminole County to Joe and Sadie Mae (Michael) Casteel. He married Norma Lee Baker on May 20, 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from October 1944 through December 1945 in the 8-11 Tank Destroyer with Gen. George Patton's Third Army as a private first class. He was a heavy equipment operator for Flint Rig Engineering in Seminole for 30 years before his retirement in 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Junior Casteel; four sisters, including his twin, Opal Clo Abernathy, Elsie Craig, Freida Parsons, Maxine Williams, and one great-grandchild, Andrew Mikel Bergsten.

Surviving are his wife, Norma, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Orval Leslie and Jeanette Casteel, Rockwall, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Cecil Bergsten, Shawnee; Dorothy Louise and Royce Davis, Midwest City; Patricia Ann "Pat" and James Fowler, Plano, Texas; Norma Katherine "Kathy" and Rickey Crosby, McLoud; brothers, Ellis David Casteel, Eufaula; Kermit Lavell Casteel, Chandler; 12 grandchildren, Steven Dean Bergsten, David Alan Bergsten, Cheryl Lynn Pfeffer, Juanita Lee Jenison, John Edward Davis, Kimberly Louise Harter, Lt. James D. Fowler, Joseph W. Fowler, Lucas Casteel, Angela Jeanette Casteel, Murphy Crosby, Erin Lynn Crosby, and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Highway Baptist Church, Little, with the Rev. John Kuhlman officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole. The casket will remain open until service time and will not be reopened.

Bonnie Elsa Ellis

Prague homemaker Bonnie Elsa Ellis died Saturday at her home. She was 84.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Jim Powell and the Rev. George Carson officiating. Burial will be at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Mrs. Ellis was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Paden, to Robert F. and Maggie Houston (Donathan) Jaggars. She married Roy C. Ellis on July 17, 1937, and worked at Hanyie Variety Store in Prague for several years, also assisting her husband in business.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Prague.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Ann Patrick of Del City, Linda and Gary Baas of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Ellis, on Nov. 26, 1997; her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

James B. Lockhart

Seminole area resident James B. Lockhart died Monday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 69.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Junior Mize officiating, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Lockhart was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Guion, Ark., to Raymond and Goldie (Hopper) Lockhart. He was reared and attended school in Bartonville, Ill., and graduated from high school in Peoria, Ill. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Eleanor Jean Petri on Dec. 6, 1968, in Canton, Ill.

He owned and operated Lockhart Construction in Bartonville, Ill., and the J&EL Ranch in Seminole. Lockhart was a member of the Methodist faith and had lived in the Seminole area for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Lockhart of the home; a stepdaughter, Sandra K. Ward of Seminole; a sister, Evelyn J. Lockhart Johnson of Sarasota, Fla.; two step-granddaughters, a step-great-granddaughter, two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cammie Lee Engler

Shawnee resident Cammie Lee Engler died Saturday at her home. She was 87.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ellis Rolette officiating.

Engler was born April 17, 1911, in Parker County, Texas, to Lemuel Matthews and Liddie Melissa (Followwell) Smith. She attended school in Oklahoma and married Otto E. Engler on Aug. 29, 1929, in Earlsboro.

She was a homemaker, a seamstress and enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include her daughter, Reba McGraw, Shawnee; a son, Royce Engler, Shawnee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Irvin and Connie Engler, Summerville, S.C., Rick and Connie Engler, Shawnee; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; her sister, Bessie Solomon, Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, William Smith, Leland Smith, Thomas Smith, Alvan Smith; two sisters, Onnie Mae Ritchie, Revil Owens; and a son, Marvin Engler.

Flora Skipwith Stacy

Shawnee resident Flora Skipwith Stacy died Sunday in a local nursing home. She was 96.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dan Weaver officiating, assisted by Bill Derrick. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Stacy was born April 8, 1902, in Pauls Valley to William C. and Rachel R. (Burt) Tankersley. She lived in Little before moving to Wewoka with her parents.

She married William F. Skipwith in Wewoka in 1924. After his death she married Roy Stacy in McLoud in 1960.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and later First Baptist Church of McLoud. She was a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Roberta Rowe, Escondido, Calif.; four step-children, R.D. Stacy, Carroll Stacy, William Stacy, all of McLoud, Zella Morris, Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Alfred Tankersley, Alvin Tankersley; three sisters, Myrtle Seaborn, Lillie Hanceford, Evelyn Bethel, and a son Robert Skipwith.

Billy James Dodgen

Seminole resident Billy James Dodgen died Monday at his home. He was 69.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Seminole with Dr. Kelvin Mosely officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Dodgen was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Stillwell, to Myrl King "M.K." Dodgen and Estallee Rebecca (Elder) Dodgen. He married Bobbye (Bass) Davis on July 10, 1981, in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve and had lived in Seminole the past 33 years, moving from Tulsa. He was a parts man for Hopeman Equipment in Seminole for 35 years and Palmer Johnson in Oklahoma City for seven years, retiring in 1994.

Dodgen was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Seminole and a bowling league officer for more than 20 years for the Seminole Men's Bowling Association.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Dodgen of the home; two sons, Charles Dodgen of Tecumseh, Carl Dodgen of Shawnee; a stepson, Ancil Davis Jr. of Edmond; three daughters, Candy Davis, Connie Scott, Cheryl Allison, all of Seminole; a stepdaughter, Crystal Harbert of Oklahoma City; a brother, the Rev. Harold Dodgen of Grove; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise (Brewer) Dodge on Dec. 16, 1980; his parents and a brother.

Mary Louise Ramsey

Mary Louise Ramsey died Thursday at the age of 68.

She was born April 4, 1930, in Oilton to Lottie and Roscoe Hagle. She married Darrell Ramsey on May 16, 1948, in Drumright and they had one daughter.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dale Ayers, Shawnee, and grandsons, Ryan and Linde Ayers.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Services were Monday at Oilton under the direction of Peck Funeral Home of Oilton.
