Iva Nell Huckeby

Iva Nell Huckeby died Saturday in Lufkin, Texas. She was 78.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1921, to John Wesley and Clara (Wood) Hazelwood. She worked for the Dallas Morning News, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and owned and operated a small grocery store in Dallas.

She married Charles O. Huckeby in 1942. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, where she worked with the homebound ministry, the children's church ministry and the Sunday school department. In 1978, she moved to Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cora Bell Spellmen and her husband.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Cindy and James Will of Lufkin, Texas, and Cheryl Miller of Deerfield, Fla., three grandchildren, Nicole Anderson of Tampa, Fla., Michael Will of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lance Will of Baton Rouge, La., three great-grandchildren, one brother, Darryl Hazelwood of Dekalb, Texas, and two sisters, Paula Blanchet of Mesquite, Texas, and Patricia Gray of Dallas, Texas.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Moore will officiate under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Park.

Joyce Kathleen LaReau

Joyce Kathleen LaReau, 79, died Monday in a local hospital.

She was born on Jan. 23. 1921, to Samuel and Constance (Bonsay) Stansfield. She attended nursing school in Calcutta, India, under the guidance of Mother Teresa. She worked as a nurse ar the old Broadway Hospital and later was director of nursing at the Shawnee Medical Center Hospital.

She retired from the hospital in the early 1980s.

She married John T. LaReau on Oct. 19, 1945, in Calcutta, India. In the same year, she moved to the United States with her husband, a member of the U.S. Army. She had lived in Shawnee since 1951.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one granddaughter.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Iris Stansfield of Frankfurt, Germany, two sons and daughter-in-law, Louis LaReau of Shawnee and Robert and Barbara LaReau of Shawnee, two daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Kent Bowlan of Shawnee and Diane LaReau of Shawnee, three grandchildren, Ty LaReau, Scott LaReau and Hillary LaReau, all of Shawnee, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at noon Thursday at the Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Larry Goins will officiate.

Joe Nathan Conway

Joe Nathan Conway died Friday in Seminole. He was 94.

He was born on May 6, 1906, to Jack C. and Sarah (Williams) Conway. He married Mary Elizabeth Watson on Jan. 29, 1943. He worked in construction and masonry. He held membership with the Galilee Temple of Praise and Deliverance in Seminole and the Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons and two daughters.

Survivors include nine sons: James Conway of Oakland, Calif., Charles Conway of Midwest City, Alonzo Conway of Seminole, Clarence Conway of Oklahoma City, Dale Conway of Seminole, Larry Conway of Ada, Richard Conway of Oklahoma City, Lawrence Conway of Seminole and Johnny Conway of Anadarko; six daughters: Anne Geneva Phillips of Kansas City, Mo., Mattie Ledbetter of Tulsa, Doris Carter of McAlester, Clarice Cagg of Anadarko, Alta Griffis of Norman and Freeda Conway of Seminole; and one brother, Clarence Conway of Boley. He also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole. The Rev. Larry Crawford will officiate and burial will follow in the Wolf Cemetery.

Patrick Arnold Duncan

Patrick Arnold Duncan died Sunday in Waldren, Ark., the result of a two-car accident.

He was born Nov. 1, 1959, in San Fernando, Calif., and moved to the Neosho, Mo., area in 1971. He worked on the packing line at Sunbeam in Neosho.

Survivors include two daughters, Megan and Heather Duncan, both of Pineville, Mo., his mother, Edna Byars of Shawnee, aunt Mary Ritter of Shawnee and uncle Mike Proznyk of Neosho.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho. Dr. Jerry Siegel will officiate and burial will follow in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, c/o Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Tommy "We-Gach-Tus-Em" Carlson

Tommy "We-Gach-Tus-Em" Carlson, 6, died Saturday in Tulsa.

He was born June 21, 1994, to Dennis and Nancy (Little Charley) Carlson. He lived in Monroe, where he had attended school for three years.

He was a member of the Goodspring Church. He loved to ride his bicycle, swim and fly kites. He was full of love and energy. He loved people, turtles and frogs. He especially loved his teachers and classmates.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles "Buzz" Charley and Dennis Ray Carlson Sr.

Survivors include his parents; three sisters, Samantha Little Charley of Little Axe, Scottina Carlson and Harley Carlson, both of Monroe; one brother, Adrianno McBride Carlson of Monroe; and grandparents Rosa M. Little Charley of Little Axe and Eugene and Leveta Davis of Poteau.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Little Charley Family Cemetery. The Rev. Ellis Rolette will officiate, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Earl Martin Cline

Earl Martin Cline died Sunday in a local hospital. He was 81.

He was born on April 22, 1919, to Fred and Eula (Kerr) Cline. He attended Tecumseh High School and graduated from Meeker High School.

He worked as a truck driver, building foreman and a Chevrolet mechanic. He married Vera F. Smith on Sept. 17, 1938, was divorced in 1951 and remarried her in September, 1994. He was a 50-year plus member of the VFW Post 1320 in Sapulpa, a member of the Sapulpa Elks Lodge No. 1118, the Wichita, Kansas Masonic Lodge 443 and the Shawnee Oldfellows Lodge 55.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary M. Cline, his son, Christopher Cline, his son, and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of the home, two daughters and their spouses, Glenda and Gaylord Connor of Bluffton, S.C., Gayle and Dan Poole of Witchita, Kan., four grandsons and their spouses, Kip and LuAnn Connor of St. Charles, Mo., Michael and Allison Wheat of Dallas, Texas, Aaron and Kathy Cline of Witchita, Kan., and Chad Thomas of Witchita, Kan., four granddaughters and their spouses, Kim and David Dorrough of Owasso, Christy and J.D. Kennedy of McKinney, Texas, Kelli Dagget of Limerick, Pa., and Savannah Cline of Eureka, Kan., one brother and his wife, Con and Maisie Cline of Tucson, Ariz., brother-in-law Herchel Teeples, daughter-in-law Vivian Cline Wing of Witchita, Kan., and special friends, Ken and Ruby Wilson of Sapulpa, Bill and Mary Warren of Sapulpa and David and Marjorie Swift of Shawnee.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tecumseh Cemetery. The Rev. Leroy Kerbo will officiate under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to The Sierra Club, Memorials Program, 85 Second St., San Francisco, CA 94105-3441.

Earl Martin Cline

Shawnee resident Earl Martin Cline died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 81.

Cline was born April 22, 1919, in Texhoma, Texas, to Fred and Eula (Kerr) Cline. He attended Tecumseh High School and graduated from Meeker High School in 1937.

He married Vera F. Smith on Sept. 1, 1938. They divorced in 1951 and reunited in September of 1994.

He was a truck driver, building foreman and a Chevrolet mechanic prior to retirement. He served in the U.S. Army, Italian Campaign, as a first scout for the 10th Mountain Division.

He was a 50-year member of VFW Post 1320 in Sapulpa, Sapulpa Elks Lodge No. 1118, Wichita Kansas Masonic Lodge 433 and Shawnee Oddfellows Lodge 55.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Cline, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Gaylord Connor, Bluffton, S.C.; Gayle and Dan Poole, Wichita, Kan.; four grandsons and their spouses, Kip and LuAnn Connor, St. Charles, Mo.; Michael and Allison Wheat, Dallas, Texas; Aaron and Kathy Cline, Wichita, Kan.; Chad Thomas, Wichita; brother and sister-in-law, Con and Maisie Cline, Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Hurchel Teeples; and daughter-in-law, Vivian Cline Wing, Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary M. Cline, grandson, Christopher Cline and one sister.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating.

Mark Henderson Harjo

Mark Henderson Harjo of Konawa died Sunday. He was 16.

He was born Sept. 12, 1983, in Ada to Alisia Kay Howell and Damon Henderson Harjo. He spent all of his life in Seminole County.

Survivors include mother, Alisia Kay Howell, Konawa; father, Damon Henderson Harjo, Konawa; two brothers, Jesse Lee Factor, Wolf; Eren Lee Factor, Wolf; one sister, Demara Hope Harjo, Ship Rock, N.M.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spring Church, with the Rev. Houston Tiger and the Rev. Tony Tiger officiating. Burial will follow in Vamoosa Cemetery, under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Konawa.

William Jasper Cherry

William "Bill" Jasper Cherry died Saturday in Edmond. He was 90.

Cherry was born May 3, 1910, in Warwick to Joseph William and Ethel Alice (Swinford) Cherry. He owned a shoe repair store in Chandler for many years, and was a Chandler Police officer.

Survivors include his son, Gary Cherry, Holster, Calif.; three daughters, Betty Goodall, Watsonville, Calif.; Ruthie Prine, Rogers, Ark.; Alice Williams, Scotts Valley, Calif.; brother, George W. Cherry, Panama City, Fla.; sister, Alene Green, Warwick; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother and one sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with Pastor Chad Bird officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler.
