Kenneth Ray Kennedy

Kenneth Ray Kennedy of Shawnee died Monday at his home. He was 69.

He was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Hope, Ark., to Jesse James Kennedy and Lillie (Mattney) Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy married Joyce King in Las Vegas, Nev., on July 28, 1957.

He worked as a carpet layer for Buford White Lumber Co. Mr. Kennedy served in the U.S. Army and had lived in Shawnee since 1973.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother; four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Kennedy of Shawnee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Patrick Jeffers of Shawnee and Linda and Phil Sanford of Mesquite, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Ferrill and Pam Morgan of Mesquite, Texas; one brother, Jay Kennedy of Texarkana, Ark.; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Jerry Bitto of Shawnee; Ira Lee Rollins of Bishop, Calif.; Ann Smith of Washington; Bonnie and Malcolm Porterfield of Texarkana, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Jason Tinney, Robin Johnson, Randy Johnson, Brian Morgan, Sherri Morgan, Kevin Morgan and Christopher Morgan.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Gaskill Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Briscoe officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Jeanne Caroline Richardson

Former Shawnee resident Jeanne Caroline Richardson of Chickasha died Friday. She was 55.

She was born April 8, 1945, in Chillicothe, Ohio, and was the daughter of Helen Coots of Moore and the late Alva Pritchard.

She was a graduate of Capital Hill Beauty Academy and earned her bachelor's degree in history and English from East Central University in Ada. She worked at Southern Plain Medical Clinic and taught at Washington Alternative School in Shawnee until she was disabled.

She served in the Peace Corps in the Philippines for several years.

Preceding her in death were her sisters, Joanne and Jeannie, and granddaughter Sarah Lachell Banning.

Surviving are an aunt, Dorothy Leach of Chillicothe, Ohio; brother Roger Pritchard of Shawnee; daughters Kimberly Wyant of Chickasha, Tammy Neese-Dalton of Wetumka and Christy Cooper of Chickasha; son Jason Richardson of Kansas City, Mo.; nieces Cindy Neirbrorline and Linda Bollendocker of Elkhart, Ind.; nephews Roger M. Pritchard of Columbus, Ohio, Jeremy and Mark Pritchard of Shawnee; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha.

Evelyn Grace Potter Park

Former Chandler resident Evelyn Grace Potter Park of Mountain Home, Ark., died Friday. She was 86.

She was born July 15, 1913, at Kickapoo Valley near Chandler to Henry Ray and Grace C. Gerady Potter. She grew up in Sparks and Chandler, and graduated from Arkansas City Junior College in 1932.

She earned a bachelor's of science in business from Oklahoma State University in 1934.

She married Warren R. Park on Nov. 16, 1934, at her parent's home in Chandler.

He preceded her in death May 5, 1993.

She was a partner with her husband and bookkeeper for their business, Park Oil Co. The couple purchased the business in 1953 and sold it in 1975 when they retired.

She was past president of P.E.O., Oklahoma chapter AN, a charter member and past regent of Indian Spring chapter of DAR, an organizing member of the Dr. Comfort Starr chapter at Tulsa of Colonial Dames of the 17th century.

She was also past president of the WSCS of the Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She published many books and she, along with other family members, compiled the tombstone inscriptions for all cemeteries in Lincoln County as a permanent record for the DAR archives of early settlers who died before cemeteryand death records were kept.

She also organized a multivolume indexed compilation of Lincoln County obituaries for 1970 through 1995.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and her brother Harold H. Potter.

Surviving are a daughter, Margaret K. Park of Athens, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn G. and George C. Wheat of Mountain Home, Ark.; a son and daughter-in-law, W. Roger and Alice Park of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Justin R. Park of Sacramento, Calif., and Sarah E. Park of Fresno, Calif.

Memorials may be made the the Lincoln County Historical Society and Museum, the First United Methodist Church of Chandler or the American Diabetes Association.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler with the Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler and Kirby-Boaz Funeral Directors.

Dora Opal Warren McPherson

Former Shawnee resident Dora Opal "Sam" Warren McPherson of Ardmore died Sunday. She was 69.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Blackburn Cemetery.

Further announcements will be made by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Eunice L. Hays

Eunice L. Hays died Sunday at Shawnee Regional Hospital. She was 82.

She was born in Whitefield on Oct. 27, 1917, and was the daughter of Charles Gulley and Nellie Busby Gulley. On Oct. 7, 1940, she married Bertie Horace Hays in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death Aug. 21, 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of Skyview Baptist Church.

She had been a resident of Okemah since 1959.

Also preceding her in death were one brother, Henry Gulley and two sisters, Eula Truesdell and Joyce Gulley.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bobby and Judy Hays of Alamargordo, N.M., Jerry and Cherri Hays of Tulsa, and David Hays of Del City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Rogers of Harrah and Joanna and Keith Smit of Tulsa; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Skyview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Yeubanks officiating and the Rev. Carl Clay assisting. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Ora Helen Jones

Ora Helen Jones of Konawa died Sunday in Ada. She was 88.

She was born June 25, 1911, at Sacred Heart to Laura Catherine and Samuel L. Williams. She married Alonzo Jones at Konawa on Jan. 19, 1934.

She was a retired school teacher and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa. She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, the National Education Association and Pontotoc County Retired Teachers Association.

She was a graduate of the first graduating class of Vamoosa High School in 1931.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1958.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Barbara Jones of Konawa; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sammy C. and Benny Edwards Sr. of Ada and Diane and Jay Huckleberry of Konawa; two brothers, Charles L. Williams of San Antonio, Texas and Carl E. Williams of Konawa; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa with the Rev. Randy Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.

Earl F. Pruitt

Earl F. Pruitt of Oklahoma City died Sunday. He was 69.

He was born April 8, 1931, in Arapaho to Earl and Mary (Shuffit) Pruitt. He married Christine Bristow on June 3, 1950, in Shawnee. He attended the Assembly of God Church and was a retired truck driver.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Marie Moore; four brothers, Edmond McCray, Grady McCray, George Moore and Johnny Moore.

Surviving are his wife Christine of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Claude Cranfield of Oklahoma City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Raelene Pruitt of Oklahoma City and Jon and Barbara Pruitt of Newalla; six grandchildren, Michael, Tiffany, Eric, Aaron, Bo and Alyssa; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Denzel McCray; one sister, Mary Brust.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Eisenhour SE Chapel in Del City. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes.

Rosetta Bryant

Rosetta Bryant, Paden, died Sunday at her home. She was 58.

Mrs. Bryant was born May 31, 1941, in Seminole to Frank M. and Mary Welliver.

She married Leslie Jovon Stewart in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1969.

She later married Melvin Bryant on June 9, 1973.

Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and a retired home health care provider.

She was a born-again Christian.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Welliver in 1985; and two brothers, Ernie Welliver, in 1938, and Jim Welliver, in 1998.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Bryant of the home; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Laurie Ann VanCuren and JaVonna Dawson, both of Prague, Venita and Thomas Settles, Paden, Debbie and Mark Griffith, Prague, and Tracey and Robert McCalip, Paden; a son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Debbie Bryant, Stigler; four sisters, Frances Northcot, New Hope, Minn.; Joy Barlow, Seminole; Sarah Rusher, Oklahoma City; Jerry Fuksa, Enid; Shirley Welliver, Camon, Okla.; four brothers, Amos Welliver, Bowlegs; Frankie Welliver, Knifly, Ky.; Bethel Welliver, Oklahoma City; Tommy Welliver; Blocker, Okla.; four granddaughters; and 13 grandsons.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today, in Paden Cemetery, with the Rev. JoAnn Pritchett and the Rev. Paul Heard officiating.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Clifford Earl Anderson

Clifford Earl Anderson died Saturday at a Tulsa hospital. He was 77.

He was born June 8, 1922, in rural Muskogee, the son of Earl Anderson and Viola Sylvia "Belle" Perkins Anderson. He was married to June Hite. He attended school at Okfuskee and was a retired pipe fitter of Local 669.

He was a member of the Eighth Street Community Holiness Church and had been a resident of Okemah for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Lonnie Anderson in 1995 and one sister, Sadie Brown.

Surviving are his wife, June Anderson of the home in Okemah; two daughters, Glenda Baker and Anita Lee, both of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with the Rev. L.D. Davis officiating and the Rev. Don Rich assisting.

Burial will follow in the Okfuskee Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Ruth Drake

Former Shawnee resident Ruth Drake of Bay City, Texas, died Thursday in Bay City. She was 91.

Mrs. Drake was born Sept. 12, 1907, in Lament, Mo., to George and Floy Myrtle (Wright) Kerns. She married Emmit Spurgeon Drake in 1950 in Shawnee.

She had lived in Shawnee since 1939 and recently moved to Bay City with her daughter. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell and Ron Eaton, Bay City, Texas; grandchildren, Laurie and Rick Rankin, Conroe, Texas, Eric and Laura Eaton, Oklahoma City, Brandon and Christina Eaton, Shawnee, and Brian Eaton, Shawnee; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sisters, Lois Kerns and Velma Wolfe.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating.
