Shawnee resident Marion Gay died Thursday in a local hospital. He was 95.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Baptist Church, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home, Shawnee.

Theresa Ruby Bishop

Theresa Ruby Bishop died Thursday in Cushing. She was 75.

She was born March 19, 1924, in Henryetta. She was the daughter of Phillip Rose and Mary Elizabeth (George) Nicolino.

She married Clarence Martin Bishop Sept. 7, 1957, in California.

Mrs. Bishop, a homemaker, was a resident a Bristow since 1966. She moved from California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one brother.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Martin Bishop, of the home; sons, Johnny Freeman, Mesto, Calif., Doyle Freeman, Escalon, Calif., Lee Freeman, Jamestown, Calif., Earl Luther Freeman, Colton, Calif., Dickie Bishop, Garden Grove, Calif., and Gary Bishop, San Jose, Calif.; daughters, Sharon Ann Robertson, Marie Loma, Calif., Sharon Lee Conrad, Bakersfield, Calif., and Donna Bishop, Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Amy Ensley, Tulsa; niece, Mary Stanford, Tulsa; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Mark Simms. Burial will be in the Kellerby Cemetery, Prague. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Sonya Lynn Ernst

Sonya Lynn (Bogue) Ernst died Wednesday. She was 33.

She was born Aug. 18, 1966, in Tipton, Ind. After graduating from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth, Texas, she attended El Centro Community College in Dallas, Texas, later attending Langston University for two years.

She and Dr. Jay Ernst, a Shawnee doctor, were married in 1990. She worked as an office manager for her husband. She was a active member in the Central States and Southern Drag Boat Association. She attended Metro Church in Edmond.

Surviving are her husband, Dr. Jay Ernst of the home; her father, Richard Lee Bogue of Indiana; her mother, Linda Carol Flores, also of Indiana; one brother, Todd L. Bogue, Indiana; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pat Ernst and Loyd Ernst, both of Drumright; other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Drumright, with the Rev. Larry Smiley officiating. Burial will follow at Drumright North Cemetery under the direction of Don Smith Funeral Home of Drumright.

Brenda E. Sloat Sherman

Oklahoma City resident Brenda E. Sloat Sherman died Tuesday at her home. She was 32.

Mrs. Sherman was born Aug. 30, 1967, in Lawton to Floyd and Ramona Sloat. She was raised in Casper, Wyo. She attended school in Putnam City and graduated with honors from Rutgers University with a degree in arts and sciences.

She served seven years in the U.S. Air Force and was a physical fitness trainer in New Jersey. She recently moved to Oklahoma.

Survivors include her son, Myles Anthony Mossbacher, Simi Valley, Calif.; mother, Ramona Sloat, Oklahoma City; grandmothers, Eunice Sloat, Newalla; Marie Beasley, Shawnee; sister, Veda Sloat, Dallas, Texas; brothers, Alec Sloat and Howard Sloat, both of Oklahoma City; aunts, JoRene Martinez, Denver, Colo.; Wynona Coon, Newalla; uncle, Dale Wilson, Shawnee; and niece, Taylor Renee Sloat, Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Sloat; and brother, Steve Sloat.

Services will be 3 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Ellis Rolette officiating. Wake services will be tonight at Horseshoe Bend Community Center. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Betty Clark

Seminole resident Betty Clark died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 68.

She was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Meeker to Lewis Floyd Kinnett and Margie (Galloway) Kinnett.

She married C.M. Clark on June 3, 1948, in Meeker.

Mrs. Clark grew up in the Meeker and Shawnee areas and moved to Seminole in 1961. She graduated from Meeker High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother.

Mrs. Clark was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole and was active in the charity Sunday school class as well as in the community.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dava Clark, Norman; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Terry Fletcher, Seminole; sister, Lois Kinnett, Seminole; grandchildren, April Clark, Derek Clark, Casady Fletcher and Peyton Fletcher; and great-grandchild, Tyler Geer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research (lupus) or the Benevolence Fund at the First Baptist Church.

Lucille Kelley

Lucille Kelley of Centralia, Mo., died Friday in Centralia, Mo. She was 89.

She was born March 9, 1910, in Hichita, Okla. She was the daughter of Simon Lee Foshee and Emily (Nelson) Foshee.

Mrs. Kelley graduated from Hichita High School. She was a homemaker.

She married Donald L. Kelley in 1933 in Oklahoma City.

She was a member of the University Baptist Church of Shawnee and Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She was active with the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, in which her husband served as president. She was president of the CowBelles, an organization affiliated with Oklahoma's Cattlemen.

She lived in Shawnee for about 30 years before moving to Tulsa.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Donald Kelley; and five brothers.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Kaye Kelley, Jefferson, Texas; Emily Elaine Campion, Fort Worth, Texas; Patricia Kelly Wight and J.C. Wight, Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Sallye Matheny, Ila Sessions and Audria Foshee, all of Tulsa; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

The family has designated Coyote Hill Children's Home, 9501 Coyote Hill Road, Harrisburg, Mo., 65256, as appropriate for memorial contributions.

Virginia Durie Kirby

Virginia Durie "Judy" Kirby died Friday in Stroud. She was 72.

She was born July 4, 1927, in Columbus, Mo. She was the daughter of Wilber and Nola (Athey) Baughtman.

She married Melton Bennett Kirby Nov. 4, 1969, in Ralston, Okla.

Mrs. Kirby was a resident of Stroud for 31 years and worked as a telephone dispatcher in her house for various companies for many years. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Stroud.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Survivors include her husband, Melton of the home; sons, Charles Kirby, Plano, Texas, Terry Kirby, Eldorado, Okla., Larry Kirby, Gainesville, Texas, and Burt Kirby, Tulsa; daughters, Jeannie Goodwin, Hot Spring, Ark., Nancy Kirby, Austin, Texas, Gail Morris, Jackson, Miss., Delores Purvis, Jackson, Miss., June Akiode, Austin, Texas, and Gay Stacey, Columbia, S.C.; brothers, Jerry Baughtman and Narie Baughtman, both of Tylertown, Miss.; sister, Betty Jane Smith, Beaumont, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Parks Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Jim Christian officiating. Burial will be in Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Funeral Home in Stroud.

Edna Anna Fleming

Shawnee resident Edna Anna Fleming died Saturday in Shawnee. She was 92.

She was a seamstress and lived in Oklahoma City most of her life.

She was born Nov. 23, 1907, in West Texas.

Survivors include her grandson, Eddie Gibson; great-grandsons, Mitchell Gibson and Dwayne Gibson; four great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Violet Cemetery with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.

Violet Bivins

Shawnee resident Violet Bivins died Friday in Shawnee. She was 84.

She was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Tecumseh to B.F. "Jack" and Floy (Wilson) Washburn.

She married Robert L. "Whitey" Bivins. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1980.

Mrs. Bivins attended Barnard School in Tecumseh and Varnum School in Seminole. While her husband worked as a driller in the oil fields, she lived in West Texas, Utah and Wyoming. She returned to Oklahoma in 1959 and has lived most of her life in the Tecumseh/Shawnee areas.

She and her husband owned and operated the Arrow Cafe in Tecumseh from 1959 to 1977.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, C.H. Washburn and Jack Washburn, and one sister, Juanita Dorsey.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Herb Yones, Tecumseh; sister, Anna L. Ward, Shawnee; grandchildren, Mike Yones, Oklahoma City, Joe Yones, Shawnee, and Kim Rayburn, Edmond; six great-grandchildren, Cris, Steven, Patrick and Carrie Yones of Tecumseh and Taylor and Alex Rayburn of Edmond; three nephews; one niece; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Kamryn Lynn Pearse

Kamryn Lynn Pearse died Thursday in Shawnee. She was 10 months old.

Kamryn was born March 3, 1999, in Burbank, Calif., to Frederick Stanley Pearse Jr. and Kimberly (Williams) Pearse.

Survivors include her parents, Frederick and Kimberly Pearse of the home in LaCanada, Calif.; brother, Justin Daniel Pearse, of the home; sister, Jordan Lane Pearse, of the home; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Alene Williams, Prague; maternal great-grandmother, Phoebe Green, Prague; paternal grandparents, Ernest J. and Lyleana G. Aponte, Kenner, La., and Frederick S. Pearse Sr., Miami, Fla.; and paternal great-grandfather, Homero Garcia Montenegro, Guatemala.

High Mass of the Angels will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow in Los Angeles, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Norman P. Haney Sr.

McLoud resident Norman P. Haney Sr. died Friday at a Midwest City hospital after a long illness. He was 72.

He was born May 16, 1927, in Seminole County to Williamsee and Janata (Larney) Haney.

He attended Strothers Public Schools and Haskell Indian Junior College. He retired after 25 years at Tinker Air Force Base and completed his career at the Oklahoma City General Motors Plant Dec. 1, 1992, after 13 years of service.

Haney served in the U.S. Navy for two years during World War II. He served in the Pacific, Shanghai, China and Alaska. He was in Tokyo, Japan, in 1945 when the war ended.

He was active in the Nagawee United Methodist Church in Shawnee and also was a member of the Seminole Hitchitee United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Brave Haney, McLoud; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cheri Haney, Glenpool; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet (Haney) and the Rev. Timothy Byington, Dewey, and Muriel A. (Haney) and the Rev. David Wakolee, Shawnee; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hitchitee Methodist Church, Seminole, with the Rev. Tim Byington officiating.

Dinner will be served at the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Hitchitee Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

A wake is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Hitchitee Methodist Church.
