Elizabeth Moore Emery

Former Shawnee music teacher Elizabeth Moore Emery died Feb. 16 in Richmond, Va. She was 80.

Elizabeth Moore was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Etowah, Tenn., and graduated from Etowah High School in 1936. She attended Maryville College and Tennessee College for Women before graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1940 with a degree in music education.

She taught public school music in Covington, Ky.; Knoxville, Tenn., and Tupper Lake, N.Y.

She attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, Mass., in 1944, and, in 1945, worked at Oak Ridge, Tenn., and then at Columbia Concerts in New York, N.Y., where she met James Emery, a professional trumpeter and arranger.

They were married Oct. 7, 1946, in Etowah, Tenn., and moved to Shawnee. She taught music at Will Rogers, Harrison and Lee elementary schools, taught private piano, and was a caseworker for the Oklahoma Welfare Agency.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and played the piano. She moved to Richmond, Va., in 1985.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1985, her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Ann Lindsley, Torreon, Mexico; two sons, Allan Moore Emery, Bowling Green, Ohio; Herschell Scott Emery, Richmond, Va.; sister, Ann Klosterman, Wooster, Ohio, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday in Etowah, Tenn. The family may be reached through Allan Emery, 845 W. Wooster, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.

Harold Dean Plum

Former Okemah resident Harold Dean Plum died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 64.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Plum was born June 18, 1934. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a truck driver for C&H Sugar Company and had lived in Okemah before moving to Oklahoma City 20 years ago.

Richard Sehon

Richard "Rick" Sehon of Tecumseh died Thursday. He was 38.

He was born Nov. 30, 1961, in Oklahoma City. He was the son of John D. and Lillian V. (Bollman) Sehon.

Sehon was a 1980 graduate of Tecumseh High School and attended Seminole Junior College and Oklahoma State University. He was born and reared in Tecumseh.

On October 2, 1992, he married Shay Lynn Magness in Tecumseh.

He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Sehon, and his father-in-law, Charles D. Magness.

Survivors include his wife, Shay Lynn Sehon of the home; two daughters and one son, Casey Jo Sehon, Chas Ethan Sehon and Cydney Lynn Sehon, all of the home; mother, Lillian V. Sehon of Tecumseh; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and John Goodson of Earlsboro; Sandy and Dane Johnson of Shawnee; three nephews, Josh and Jake Goodson and Brad Johnson; two nieces, Amber and Chelle Johnson; mother-in-law, Darla Magness of Midwest City; and numerous friends and family.

Memorials may be made to increase awareness of the importance of organ donation.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home with John Limberopoulos, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Newcastle officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Nina Mae Collum

Nina Mae Collum, longtime Shawnee resident, died Thursday in Norman. She was 72.

Mrs. Collum was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Shawnee, the daughter of Dock B. and Floy (Ragsdale) King.

She attended Shawnee Public Schools.

She married Merron James Collum in 1955 in Shawnee.

Mrs. Collum worked as a baker for 10 years at Shawnee Middle School before retiring.

She attended the East Main Church of Christ, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merron Collum; a son, Jimmy Dwayne Collum; her parents, Dock and Floy King; a brother, Charles E. King; and four sisters, Mary Ollie King, Juanita Kelley, Gerri Parris and Peggy Trammel Baker.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rejina and John Shepherd Jr., Holdenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Collum, Norman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jacky D. and Carolyn King, Choctaw, and James T. and Letha King, Tecumseh; three grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-law, John III and Kristi Shepherd, Grady and Danielle Shepherd, Scotlyn Collum; three great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Guy E. Parris, Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Doyle Loveland officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.

Jessie Farley

Shawnee resident Jessie Farley died Saturday in a nursing home. She was 83.

Mrs. Farley was born Oct. 15, 1916, in Wanette to Jim and Lockey Webb.

She married Joe L. Farley on July 27, 1934, in Konawa.

She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Farley; a daughter, Zelpha Farley; grandson, Brian Tackett; parents, Jim and Lockey Webb; and four brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin and Joy Farley, Bethany, and Joe L. Jr. and Judy Farley, El Reno; a daughter and son-in-law, Erana and Carl Williams, Itasca, Texas; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Dallas "Red" Barnes officiating.

Burial will be in Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Beulah Melinda Cully Bemo

Lifelong Seminole County resident Beulah Melinda Cully Bemo died Thursday in a Midwest City hospital. She was 79.

Mrs. Bemo was born June 2, 1920, in Sasakwa, to Aleck and Nora Cully.

She attended Sasakwa Schools, and later made her home in Wewoka.

She married Simeon Bemo Sr. on Jan. 20, 1940, in Wewoka.

Mrs. Bemo worked at P and S General Hospital in Holdenville before retiring after 15 years of service. She later worked for the Big Yank Corporation in Wewoka until 1985. In 1989, she began work as the program coordinator for the Seminole Nation's Older American Program.

She was a member of Spring Baptist Church, where she was a teacher in the Indian Speaking Sunday school, the MSW Association and Women in Mission Organization.

She was a member of the Seminole Nation Intertribal Powwow Club.

Mrs. Bemo was preceded in death by her husband, Simeon Bemo Sr.; a son, Simeon "Dink" Bemo; a great-grandson, Christopher Ryan Bemo; her parents, Aleck and Nora Cully; three brothers, Daniel Mack Cully, Benjamin Cully and Amos Cully; a sister, Susie Cully Petete; and a granddaughter-in-law, Genelle Bemo.

Survivors include five children and two daughters-in-law, Pinky Bemo-Yahola, Wetumka; Benny and Beverly Bemo, Shawnee; Roberta Coley and Billy Wood, Wewoka; Reno BlueEyes and Rob Wakely, Wewoka; Lena Mae Bemo, Sapulpa; Aggie Jesse, Sasakwa; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruby Jesse, Sasakwa; Polly Palmer, Tulsa; Jane McKane, Holdenville; Amy Owings, Shawnee; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Wake services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Spring Baptist Church with Evangelist Richard Pickup and the Rev. Billy Joe Harjo officiating.

Burial will be in Spring Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Jimmy Ray Moody

Jimmy Ray Moody, McLoud, died Saturday at his home. He was 63.

Moody was born March 11, 1936, in Pawnee, Texas. He was reared by his grandparents, John and Bertha Moody.

He married Carol Eager on July 18, 1979, in Gainesville, Texas.

He served with the U.S. Army in Germany before his honorable discharge in 1960.

Moody worked as a welder in Oklahoma, Texas, Alaska and abroad.

He was a member of Newalla First Baptist Church, and was a member of Flashback's Car Club of Guthrie.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Moody of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Patricia Moody and Mike and Alice Moody, all of Sinton, Texas, and Jeff and Carol Eager, Jones; two daughters and a son-in-law, Tina and Brian Balney, Edmond, and Stephanie Fajardo, Fort Leonardwood, Mo.; a sister, Kay Bowman, Beeville, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Newalla First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Redding officiating assisted by the Rev. Griff Henderson.

Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, Shawnee.

Deborah Joyce (Heaton) Braman

Shawnee resident Deborah Joyce (Heaton) Braman died Friday at her home. She was 48.

Mrs. Braman was born on March 18, 1951, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Clarence John "C.J." and Annaetta (Wilde) Heaton.

She graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1969.

She married Stacy Auguste Braman on Dec. 20, 1969, in Klamath Falls, Ore.

She was the principal of New Hope Christian Academy from 1987 to 1999. Mrs. Braman authored two devotional books, "Food for Thought" and "More Food For Thought."

She was a member of the Main Street Church of God in Maud, where she and her husband had pastored since 1980.

Mrs. Braman had lived in the county since 1979.

Survivors include her husband, Stacy Braman of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Braman of the home and Jeremy and Tammie Braman, Tulsa; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dan Kasper, Tulsa; parents, C.J. and Netta Heaton, Brookings, Ore.; two sisters, "Onie" Lynn Baker, Medford, Ore., and Cyndi Beeson, Brunswick, Maine; a brother, Bruce Heaton, Harbor, Ore.; and two grandsons, Zachary Kasper and Christopher Braman, both of Tulsa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Church of God, Maud, with Pastor H.K. Griffin of Tulsa officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home in Maud.
