Junior Norman

Junior Norman, longtime Davenport resident, died Thursday in Davenport. He was 69.

Norman was born on May 20, 1930, in Wewoka, the son of Roma and Jesse (Nalley) Norman.

He worked as a mechanic and attended the Assembly of God Church in Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roma and Jesse Norman; a sister; and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Norman, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Bill Patterson, Chandler; Sharon and Maurice Sartor, Shawnee; a brother, Charles T. Norman, Sasakwa; three sisters, Florence Morrison, Ozark, Mo.; Alma Cooley, Sasakwa; Willis Acres, California; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler with the Rev. Leon Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Davenport Cemetery.

Billy Joe Lemons

Billy Joe Lemons died Sunday at Purcell Hospital. He was 69.

Lemons was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Washington, Okla., to William Thurman Lemons and Treva (Cargil) Lemons.

He served in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. He moved to Shawnee in 1960, where he lived for 25 years.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Treva Kay and Mark French and Adelia and Bill Shirey, all of Tecumseh, and Darla and Rick Young, Purcell; five grandchildren and their spouses, Billy Brent and Lori Dustman, Shawnee, Chanda Dustman, Tecumseh, Patricia Red, Louisiana, Joseph Red, Stillwater, and Austin Brent Young, Purcell; two great-grandchildren, Talon Brent Dustman and Randa Lyn Jones; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Martha Lemons, Allen, Okla., and Glayes and Jane Lemons, Pinetop, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Jami Lyn Dustman in 1989.

Services are pending under the direction of Wadley Funeral Home, Purcell. Burial will be at Blanchard Cemetery.

Donna Marie Garcia

Meeker resident Donna Marie (Robinson) Garcia died Saturday at her home. She was 56.

Mrs. Garcia was born May 27, 1943, in Wirt, Okla., to Donald J. Robinson and Hazelene Thelma (Davenport) Robinson. She married Raul Garcia in Tulsa in 1986.

She graduated from East Central University of Ada with a bachelor of arts degree in social services. She was a retired social worker and case manager and had worked for Grand Lakes Mental Health in Vinita and for Creoaks in Okemah. She had lived in the Meeker area for about four years.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dudley and Sherri Zerbel, West Plaines, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Charlott and Kelsie Keen, Meeker; four grandchildren, Samuel Zerbel, Charity Zerbel, Seth Zerbel and Silas Zerbel; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Goldie Odessa Zerbel.

Memorial services were held 1 p.m. Monday at Aydelotte Baptist Church under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ken May officiating.

Coleen Johnson

Coleen Johnson died Sunday at Mabee Health Care Center. She was 91.

Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 19, 1908, in Holdenville to Nancy and Lee McNevins.

Survivors include her twin brother, Ben McNevins, Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Jack James, Midland, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses and great-grandchildren,, Susan and Bill Gallemore, Kelley and Christen, Colleyville, Texas; Gary James and wife Brenda, Brandon, Phillip and Christy, Katy, Texas; Jack L. James and daughter Madison Ann, Fort Worth, Texas; Jeffrey and wife Kris and Danie, Raegan, Braden and Peyton, Midland, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey in 1983; son, Gary in 1948; three brothers, Andrew, Dewey and Jess; two sisters, Flora and Jo; and grandson, Reagan in 1955.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Manor Park, 2208 N. Loop 250 West, Midland, Texas, 79707 or to Home Hospice, 1802 W. Wall, Midland, Texas, 79701.

J.C. Beaver

Welty resident J.C. Beaver died Sunday at his home. He was 82.

Beaver was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Ringling, Okla., to Alphonso Pearl Beaver and Carrie May (Johnson) Beaver. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jane Montgomery March 30, 1939, at Welty.

He was a farmer and rancher and retired from McCoy Tree Services. He attended the Highway Mission Church and was an Okfuskee County resident.

Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Beaver of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bill and Doris Beaver, Bristow, Herb J. Beaver, Welty, and Alva Gene and June Beaver, Welty; five grandchildren, Calvin Beaver, Jenny Darnell, Tammi McBurnett, Shelli Garganus and Sarah Beaver; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Betty Beaver in 1959.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with Brother Paul Heard officiating. Burial will follow at Welty Cemetery.

Fern L. Tackett

Longtime Davenport resident Fern L. Tackett died Sunday in Oklahoma City. She was 91.

Mrs. Tackett was born Aug. 25, 1908, in Ralston, Okla., to William Francis "Frank" and Melzina (Wardlow) Newnam. She married Harvey M. Tackett on Nov. 19, 1937, in Oklahoma.

She was a longtime member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Joyce Daniels, Alabama; two stepgranddaughters, one stepgrandson, numerous nieces and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 19, 1966; her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at the Davenport Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler, with the Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating.

Robert Roy Mitchell

Longtime Carney resident Robert Roy Mitchell died Sunday in Shawnee. He was 45.

Mitchell was born June 13, 1954, in Carnegie, Okla., to Roy A. and Georgia Lee (Starz) Mitchell. He married Brenda James in Carney on Dec. 18, 1976.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Lincoln County.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Mitchell of the home; daughter, Shawna Mitchell, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Clinton Roy and Kelly Mitchell, Carney; parents, Roy A. and Georgia Lee Mitchell, Carney; two brothers, Bennett Mitchell, Carney, and Marland Mitchell, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Linda Odermatt, Marcelene Anderson and Nadene Cowan, all of Carney; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with the Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Carney Cemetery.

Loretta Pauline (Knight) Adams

Former Seminole resident Loretta Pauline (Knight) Adams, Checotah, died Monday in a Tulsa hospital. She was 67.

Mrs. Adams was born March 22, 1932, in Seminole, to Arvle L. and Georgia (Michael) Knight.

She attended school in Bowlegs and graduated in 1950. She lived in Seminole County for 12 years.

She married Edward Lee "Ed" Adams on Dec. 19, 1952, in Bowlegs.

Mrs. Adams graduated from the Shawnee School of Cosmetology in 1962. She operated a beauty shop in Shawnee and later operated it in her home until last June.

She was a member of North Fork Baptist Church, the Fleas and the Texanna Fire Department Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvle and Georgia Knight; and a brother, Rudolph Knight.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Adams of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melba and Glen Bryant, Tulsa, and Lee Ann and Bob Harrelson, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Kameron Cole, Tulsa, and Annie and Merry Harrelson, both of Shawnee; and a sister, Debra Watts, McAlester.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at North Fork Baptist Church, Eufaula, with the Rev. Bruce Sanders officiating.

Burial will be in Vamoosa Cemetery, Konawa, under the direction of Black's Funeral Home of Eufaula.

Cleburne Greene Pound

Seminole resident Cleburne Greene Pound died Saturday. He was 88.

Pound was born on Nov. 23, 1911, in Hector, Ark., the son of Leroy and Maud (Bullock) Pound.

He married Chlorine Howell on March 17, 1934, in Coalgate. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1989.

He attended East Central University in Ada and graduated from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark. He received a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Pound taught at Bohannon, Okla., in 1933, and later taught at Hulsey, Prairie View, Bilby, Atwood and Crooked Oak. He served as superintendent at Spaulding from 1943 to 1959. He worked as a principal at Newcastle Elementary from 1959-1967, at Roosevelt Central, Seminole, from 1967-1971, and at Earlsboro from 1973 until his retirement in the late 1970s.

He was a Jehovah's Witness.

Pound was preceded in death by his wife, Chlorine Pound; daughter, Mary Ann McConnell; parents, Leroy and Maud Pound; four brothers, John L. Pound, Julian Haynes Pound, James Irwin Pound and Wilburn C. Pound.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judy Pound, Stephenville, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean and Freeman Whitlock, Prague, Martha and Randy Rhodes, Seminole; two brothers, Glen S. Pound, LaJolla, Calif., Bob Pound, Little Rock, Ark.; three sisters, Audra Ramsey, Holdenville, Nell Johnson, Mineola, Texas, and Helen Simons, Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were 2 p.m. Monday in the Spaulding Community Center with Freeman Whitlock officiating.

Burial was in Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.

J.B. McBride

J.B. "Chief" McBride, Shawnee, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was 62.

McBride was born on April 8, 1937, in Gerty, Okla., to Ray McBride and Pauline (Wilson) McBride Jackson.

He married Dorothy (Chappell) Crail in 1978.

He was retired, and a member of the Knob Hill Baptist Church.

McBride had lived in Shawnee since 1998. He previously lived in Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McBride of the home; three sons, Ricky McBride, Oklahoma City, Timothy McBride, Sarepta, La., and Darrell "Skeeter" McBride, Little Rock, Ark.; seven daughters, Deborah McBride, Bakersfield, Calif., Marilyn Kingston and LaDonna Owens, both of Oklahoma City, Theresa Barnham, Lewisville, Ark., Kenita Lynn, Shawnee, Jenita Willis, Oklahoma City, and Jennifer Sayre, Ada; father, Ray McBride, Marble Falls, Texas; mother, Pauline Jackson, Garden Grove, Calif.; a brother, Darrell "Mac" McBride, Garden Grove, Calif.; three sisters, Brenda Fetzko and Beverly Ann Kuhn, both of Oklahoma City, and Laura Dorsky, Reno, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee with the Rev. Jim Reed officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
