Juanita Ryan Gray

Juanita Ryan Gray, longtime Yale resident, died on Monday, May 1, 2006 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 82 years.

The daughter of the late Grady Ryan and Thelma Williams Ryan, Juanita was born on Sept. 30, 1923 in the Council Valley Community. She was reared and educated in the Northfolk and Yale area, graduating from Yale High School.

Juanita received her Bachelor Degree from Central State and her Masters Degree from Durant. She taught school for 17 years, 14 of which were in the Yale elementary school system.

She was united in marriage to Forrest Lyle Gray on Aug. 21, 1939 in Pawnee, OK and to this union three children, Jimmy, Duke and Forrest, Jr., were born. Forrest preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1998, after 59 years of marriage.

Juanita was a life long member of the Council Valley Advent Christian Church, where she was involved in youth and nursing home ministries. She loved traveling, organizing and attending school and family reunions, researching genealogy, playing rook and dominos.

She is survived by two sons, Duke M Gray and his wife Karen of Yale and Forrest Gray, Jr. and his wife Lou Ann of Bristow; one daughter-in-law, Joann Gray of Moore; six grandchildren, Mark Gray and his wife Twyla, Rick Gray and his wife Judy, Russell Gray, Angela Irvine and her husband Brian, Forrest Gray, III and his wife Amber and Cyndee Harness and her husband Justin; fourteen great-grandchildren, Michael Gray, Lacey Parsons, Casi Gray, Clint Maloy, Clayton Carroll, Rachael Carroll, William Irvine, Hunter Irvine, Forrest Holland Gray, Madison Gray, Claire Gray, Coleton, Jacob and Chloe Harness; 1 great-great-grandchild, Brookelyn Parsons; two brothers, Fred Ryan and his wife Clara of Yale and Jimmie Ryan and his wife Alice of Stillwater; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy K. Gray and one brother, Robert Ryan.

Services will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the First Christian Church, 300 E. Moses in Cushing with Reverend Steve Tiger and Reverend Jerry Hutchings fficiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Council Valley Advent Christian Church Building Fund, 20208 E. 44th St. Yale, OK 74085 or to Judith Karman Hospice in her memory.

Ferris M. Myers

Graveside services for Ferris M. Myers, age 96, of Cushing are scheduled for 10:30 am, Friday, May 5, 2006 at the Euchee Valley Cemetery, Cushing.

Ferris was born on June 22, 1909 to David Lincoln and Lucy Belle (Irwin) Myers in Uncas, Oklahoma. Ferris married Eva McClung in May of 1930. Mr. Myers was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a welder for Cities Service Oil Company in Ponca City and Cushing for most of his life. They lived in Cushing for 65 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and for several years he helped serve meals on wheels. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, watching football, basketball, baseball and traveling in the R.V. with his wife. Ferris passed from this life on May 1, 2006 in Cushing.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Gwen Billings of Albuquerque, NM, Charlene Hetherington and husband Gorda of Malakoff, Texas;1 sister, Anna Belle Ewy of Ponca City; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

Memorials may be made in Ferris Myers' name to the Cushing Senior Citizens Center or Caring Hands Hospice. Services are under the direction of Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Patsy L. Brewer

Patsy L. Brewer, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 71 years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

A celebration of Patsy's life, which was a very important request of hers, is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.

Lester L. Benthall, Jr.

July 25, 1927 ~ Jan. 20, 2007

Lester L. Benthall, Jr., retired electrical contractor, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 in Drumright at the age of 79 years. The son of the late Lester L. Benthall, Sr. and Maude Chase Benthall, Lester was born on July 25, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas. He moved to Drumright as a small child with his parents and family and attended and graduated from Drumright High School. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Lester attended Oklahoma State University, and was later employed at Tidewater Oil Company until its closure in 1955 and at that time becoming a self-employed electrical contractor. He worked on many Cushing residences and commercial buildings and did contract work for a great many oil companies. He loved his profession.

He was united in marriage to Vocille James on June 2, 1950 in Cushing and to this union two daughters, Freda and Cindi were born. Lester was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder. He was a member of the Cushing Masonic Lodge #111, 32 Degree Mason with his Consistory at Guthrie; a member of the Akdar Shrine of Tulsa; a member of the VFW and a veteran of World War II; enjoyed playing golf, both water and snow skiing, hunting, fishing, was active in the Boy Scouts, receiving his Eagle Scout Award; camping and boating. He also loved to dance and travel.

He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Vocille Benthall of the home; two daughters, Freda Bradshaw and her husband Rick, and Cindi Benthall both of Edmond; two grandchildren, Jill Frances and her husband Matt of Zurick, Switzerland and Ryan Bradshaw of Edmond; one sister, Nita Hoylman of Oklahoma City; one brother Jack Benthall of S. C.; several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at 2 P.M in the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tom Stewart, pastor officiating.

Serving as casket bearers will be Richard Wintz, Jon Vaught, Jon Wattenburger, C.L. Sadler, Rick Bradshaw and Ryan Bradshaw. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be Bob Vaught, Ashley Loveland, Bill Williams, Dale Cowley, John Griffeth and Willard Johnston. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer’s research; Vista Care Hospice; Drumright Nursing Home; Drumright Hospital. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening, Jan. 23, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Floyd Family Center, East of the Funeral Home.

Winfred "Wimpy" Moore

June 26, 1921 - Oct. 3, 2005

Winfred "Wimpy" Moore, age 84 of Tulsa, formerly of Yale died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 at the Green Country Nursing Home, Tulsa.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 at the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Okla.

Winfred was born on June 26, 1921 in Wynona, Okla. to Ed and Alta Moore. He grew up in Stillwater. Winfred married Nathalea Small in Pawnee in summer of 1943. They made their home in Tulsa.

Winfred worked for American Airlines as an Avionics Mechanic for 32-1/2 years. After retirement in the late 80's, they moved to Yale and lived there until their health began to fail. While in Yale, Winfred enjoyed raising goats and donkeys. He always liked to raise animals. Winfred was always quick to give someone charity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Nathan Edward Moore and his brother Hal Moore.

Winfred is survived by his wife Nathalea Moore of the home, children Marlene Turley and husband Doyle of Tulsa, Patty Trumbull and husband Bobby of Prattville, Gayle Elliott of Broken Arrow, Xerlan Geiser of Tulsa, Bill Moore of Tulsa, brothers Jim Moore of Geary and Johnny Moore of Texas, sister Xerlan Jones of Texas, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Rosezella Mae (Mardock) Barnett

Rosezella Mae (Mardock) Barnett, age 83 a Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday morning, 6:12 AM on Feb. 20, 2007 at the Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa. A private service will be conducted for family members. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Rosezella was born to James Robert Mardock and Sarah (Kellem) Mardock on June 10, 1923. She was raised in the Ripley, Perkins area and later moved to Cushing.

She was united in marriage to Jesse F. Barnett Sr. on Mar. 5, 1940 in Yale, Oklahoma. To this union were born: Charles Robert Barnett, Jesse F. Barnett Jr., James Edward Barnett, Sherry Ann Barnett and Darrel Wayne Barnett. She lived and raised her family in Cushing. Rosezella, an extremely busy and professional homemaker, enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking. She was well known for her expertise in baking a large variety of delightful pastries. Mrs. Barnett was an avid reader and was able to indulge herself in this passion as her children left home and were married. At the Cushing library, she was recognized by voice alone, because of over fifty years of reading a countless number of books. Rosezella was a very strong believer in God and the Christian faith. Her grandfather was a Preacher at the Quaker, now known as the Friends Church and followed those ideals throughout her life.

Survivors are children, Sherry (Barnett Stinnett and husband David of Cushing, Jesse F. Barnett Jr. of Wellington, Kan., James E. Barnett and wife Ana of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., grandchildren James E. Barnett II of Washington D.C., Jeff Barnett, David Stinnett and Kenny Barnett all of Wichita, Kan., Lori Cox of Stroud, Dana Jackson of Edmond, Brenda Stinnett of Winfield, Kan., sister Mina Mardock Suttles of Cushing, brother Paul Stillwell of Broken Arrow and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse F. Barnett Sr., sons Charles Robert and Darrell Wayne Barnett, sisters Lillian Wilson and Leatta Jenkins, brother Vernon Mardock.

Suzzane Janibeth Fulghum

Suzzane Janibeth Fulghum, 78, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority, Home Economists in Homemaking and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Haskin. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Fulghum of Wichita; their three children, Janet Kaczocha of Derby, Jean Peat of Olathe and Joel Fulghum of Andover; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, Sept. 7, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East Chapel. Bill “Junior” Gooch

Funeral services for Drumright resident Bill “Junior” Gooch were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at the Drumright First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Griffin officiating. Eulogist was Dr. Frank Denney and special music was provided by organist Odessa Dyer and soloist Julie Matherly-Harper. Interment followed in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale, Okla. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright.

Bill “Junior” Gooch was born in Yale, Okla. on Mar. 20, 1944 to the late General Walter Gooch and Gladys Irene (Rice) Gooch. He went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 4, 2007 at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 15 days. He married Marsha Deeds in St. Louis, Mo. on Aug. 13, 1982 and they remained together until his death. They lived in Agra for many years until just recently moving to Drumright. Bill had worked as a manufacturing electrician for Mercury Marine in Stillwater for many years. Bill had attended the Drumright First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He also loved to read books, spend time with his family and was a devoted husband, father and friend. He was an exceptional man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joye Hager and half brothers Oscar, Alvin, Lee, Charles, Glema and Idabelle Glander.

He leaves behind a loving wife, Marsha Gooch of Drumright, daughters; Amy McClure and husband Ron of Colorado, Jodie Dyer and husband Russell of Mannford, sons; Dale Gooch and wife Deanna of Kansas, Luke Gooch and wife Penny of Drumright, Jeff Hudspeth of Florida, grandchildren; Hailey, Hanna, Allison and Hayden McClure of Colo., Lauren Solter of Kansas, Rachel and April Dyer of Mannford, Graham Gooch, Kevin Gooch and Tyler Nicholson of Drumright, brother, Robert Gooch and wife Roxanne of Kellyville, sister, Edith Schiller and husband Don of Milfay, father in law and mother in law, Kermit and Lena Vee Deeds of Drumright, brother in law, Kevin Deeds and wife Cheryl of Bethany, sister in law, Rhonda Frailey of Missouri, brother in law, Richard Hager, nieces and nephews; Drew Deeds of Bethany, Jon Frailey of Colorado, Ryan Vojslavek of Nebraska, and other numerous nieces, nephews, family members and many loving friends.

Mamie Lois (Code) Kinder Silvers

Mamie Lois (Code) Kinder Silvers, 78, of Cushing, Okla. died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 in Cushing Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Agra, Okla. with Pastor Roger Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Osage Cemetery, Agra. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1928 in Payson, Okla. to James Code and Reva Gawphorpe. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Agra High School in 1946. She married Harold Kinder on Sept. 6, 1946 in Winfield, Kan. He preceded her in death on Mar. 30, 1992. She later married Raymond L. Silvers on Apr. 7, 1993 in Mountain View, Arkansas. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; one son, Gary Kinder; two sisters, Melba Eastwood and Lady Blanche Jamison; and one brother, William Code.

She is survived by her husband Raymond L. Silvers of Agra; two daughters, Jeanne Grylls and her husband Andy of Wheatfield, Ind.; Linda Berry and her husband Norman of Mustang, Okla.; one son, Glen Kinder and his wife Karen of Mason, Mich.; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Clarence C. McFarlin

Clarence C. McFarlin, age 68, longtime Agra resident passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 in Agra. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn at Parkland, Okla. Brother Jerry Wittman and Brother Richard Wright will officiate. Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Okla. Serving as casketbearers are Scott Wittman, Brian Brickey, Jesse Wright, Derek Wittman, Dennis Wright and Alvie Wright. Honorary casketbearers are Loyd Wright, Shane Wittman and Glover Hayes, Sr.

Arrangements are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Clarence was born on Nov. 5, 1938 in Parkland, Okla. to Arthur Monroe and Nellie Ruth (Burger) McFarlin. He grew up in the Tryon/Agra area. Clarence graduated from Agra High School in 1958; he enjoyed playing basketball in school. He served his country in the U. S. Army. Clarence married Annie Ashby on June 10, 1960; she preceded him in death in 1975. He later married Barbara Miller on Feb. 7, 1978; she preceded him in death in 2003. Clarence worked for Kerr McGee Refinery and Hudson Refinery for a number of years. He later went to work for Lincoln County, District 1 as a road grader operator. He also worked at other various jobs throughout his life. Clarence was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Osage being baptized in 1959 in Parkland, Okla. by Brother Louis Wright. He enjoyed farming, hauling hay and riding his 4-wheeler.

Clarence is survived by his son Cecil McFarlin and wife Misty of Cushing, daughters Mariesa Greenfield of Tryon, Janet Potter and husband Danny of Tryon, Wilma Porter and husband Terry of DeWitt, Arkansas, brothers Arthur McFarlin and wife Marilyn of Stillwater, Lee Ray McFarlin of Cleveland, Loyal “Bud” McFarlin and wife Lois of Tryon, sisters Nina Rodgers and husband Harold of Cushing, Sarah Carmichael of Cushing, Mary Rains and husband Leo of Ripley, Ollie Quinn of Oregon, Faye Pruitt of Cushing, grandchildren Wesley, Mandy and Jacob McFarlin, Lisa and Anna Blackbourn, Thomas and Ryan Greenfield, Danny Jr., Darrell and Dillon Potter, Andrew, Annie, Rachel, Matthew, Leah, Aaron and James Porter. Girlfriend JoAnna Cramer of Stillwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Annie McFarlin and Barbara McFarlin, brothers Henry McFarlin, James McFarlin, sisters Thelma Wittman and Ervie Murch.
