Lois M. Carr

Lois M. Carr, Shawnee, died Friday in a local nursing home. She was 72.

Mrs. Carr was born on March 28, 1927, in Okmulgee, to Raymond and Edith Finney.

She worked as a waitress in California and Oklahoma, and had resided in Shawnee for the past 16 years.

She was a member of Living Word Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Edith Finney; and a brother.

Survivors include her son, Jack Stewart, Salem, Ore.; six sisters, Beatrice Weingartner, Oklahoma City, Mary Epperson, Oklahoma City, Priscilla York, Shawnee, Barbara Ivins, Nacogdoches, Texas, Betty Luciani, Dallas, Texas, and Linda Powers, Inola; three brothers, Darren Finney, Selma, Calif., Jack Finney, Eufaula, and Joe Wayne Qualls, Oklahoma City; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City with the Rev. Cliff Briscoe officiating.

Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Mikki Park

Mikki Park died Thursday. She was 54.

She was born June 17, 1945, in Ada, Okla., to Robert and Rose Marie Rogers.

She was reared in Ada and Shawnee and attended Shawnee schools. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Roy Park; and two nephews, Robby Rogers and Caleb Franklin.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Charles Purvis, Wewoka; fiance, Bob Heltchel, Tecumseh; brothers, Jim and Delbert Rogers and their wives, all of Shawnee; sisters, Lorine Newell, Wylie, Texas, and Darlene Rogers, Shawnee; stepdaughter, Debbie Robinson, Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Kenneth and Justin Purvis, Wewoka, and Jordyn Wehrenberg, Grapevine, Texas; special friends, Sharon and Jack Wescott; and several nieces, nephews and others.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Little Cemetery, Seminole, with the Rev. Johnny Chesser officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

William Eldon Stancoff

Former Seminole resident William Eldon Stancoff died Thursday in a Muskogee hospital at the age of 79.

He was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Ada to Elmer and Lena (Ingle) Stancoff. He was supervisor of accounting for Cities Service Oil Co., at Wichita, Kan., and retired in 1980 after 35 years of service.

He moved to Seminole and lived there for 13 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Assembly of God in Seminole.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Anna Stancoff, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Don Rutledge, Fort Gibson; Gail and Edwin Morse, Albertville, Ala.; brothers, Earl Stancoff, Wichita, Kan.; Elmer Stancoff, Newark, Ohio; five grandchildren, Gary Don Rutledge, Lisa Huffer, Daniel Morse, Melissa Morse, Rebecca Morse, and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Doyle Long officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery. Members of Konawa VFW Post 11194 of Desert Storm will provide graveside military honors.

Mary L. Hicklin

Former Harrah resident Mary L. Hicklin of Midwest City died Thursday at the age of 59.

She was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Midwest City to Vernon and Katherine Barlow Truesdale. She moved to Harrah in 1960 and raised her children there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil G. Hicklin.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Vonna Hicklin, Norman; Art and Ronna Hicklin, Nixa, Mo.; Robert and Leslie Hicklin, Shawnee; Ben Hicklin, Midwest City; a sister, Katherine Gastineau, Tishomongo; five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and longtime friend, Nita West.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Harrah First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Kingston, Okla., Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.

Peggy Fleming

Peggy Fleming of Earlsboro died Friday at her residence. She was 63.

She was born June 9, 1937, in Okmulgee, the daughter of Julius Wells and Beatrice Wells.

She married Ray Fleming on May 19, 1957.

Mrs. Fleming was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hawthorne, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Ray Fleming; stepbrother, Raymond Cook; and stepfather, Raymond Cook.

Survivors include her husband Ray Fleming of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Rena Fleming of Moore and Mark and Amelia Fleming of Broken Arrow; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Corky Aledo of Bakersfield, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella York, Bonnie Wells and Carol Holder; brothers, Jack Wells and Don Wells; stepbrother, Paul David Cook; and stepsister, Sharon Kay Clarkson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Everett M. Manion

Everett M. Manion of Stringtown died Saturday at Atoka. He was 71.

He was born April 7, 1929, at Cairo, Okla., to Harvey Newton and Goldie Bench Manion.

He attended school at Lime-Stone Gap.

Mr. Manion married Bettie Moore on Oct. 11, 1948, in McAlester.

He was a diesel mechanic for Amis in Stringtown for 45 years before his retirement in 1993.

Mr. Manion was a member of the Stringtown First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothula Nelson.

Survivors include wife Bettie of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jim Farris of Coalgate; sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Ruth Manion of Shawnee, Ricky and Donalda Manion of Madill and Mark and Kathy Manion of Atoka; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Welch of Stringtown; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church, Stringtown. Burial will be at Stringtown Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service, Atoka.

Family night was 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

Homer Dane Lawson

Homer Dane Lawson, 43, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., died Sunday at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He was born Feb. 11, 1957, in Lovington, N.M., and had lived in Oak Ridge for the past 12 years.

Mr. Lawson owned and operated Lawson Lawn Care Service for 15 years.

He was a member of the Oliver Springs Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Forest Hayden Lawson.

Survivors include wife Lou Lawson of Oak Ridge; mother, Wilma Woods Lawson Foraker of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; sons, Cyle Yoakum and Wayne Lawson, both of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Smith of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; brothers, Forest Lawson and Daryl Lawson, both of Oliver Springs, Tenn., and Mike Lawson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; sisters, Carolyn Murphy of Clinton, Tenn., Wanda Williams of Clinton, Tenn.; Jackie Holland of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Oliver Springs Church of Christ with Richard Powlus officiating. Friends may visit 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the church.

Burial and graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Woods Cemetery of Coalfield. Services are under the direction of Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs, Tenn.

Charles B. Knox

Former Shawnee Police Capt. Charles B. Knox of Shawnee died Friday, Dec. 22, in Houston, Texas. He was 64.

Knox was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Oklahoma City to Charles Edwin and Louise Margret (Son) Knox. He attended Jefferson Elementary School in Shawnee and graduated from high school in Tucumcari, N.M.

He married Jerry Ann Lakin on Dec. 27, 1961.

Knox graduated from the FBI National Academy 105th session in 1976. He worked for the Shawnee Police Department from 1962 until his retirement in 1982 at the rank of captain. He also worked campus security at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Knox served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, from October 1954 to 1956, with the 37th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division.

Knox moved from Shawnee to Tucumcari, N.M., in 1948 and lived in Show Low, Ariz., from 1959 to 1961 before moving back to Shawnee.

Surviving are his wife Jerry Ann Knox of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Kay Knox of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Monty Garner of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Andy Garner, Nichole Knox and Lauren Swearingen; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Elvajean Knox of Shawnee, Lindell and Nora Knox of Grove and Bob and Denise Knox of Jay; mother-in-law, Jerry Lakin of Shawnee; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Lakin, Shawnee and Larry Lakin, Grand Prairie, Texas; two aunts, Bertie Bumgarner of Shawnee and Shurla Dudley of Rosamond, Calif.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at University Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren McWilliams officiating. A private burial was held at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Texas Heart Institute, Attention: Marc Mattsson, P.O. Box 20345, Houston, Texas 77225.

Mazie V. Ewing

Mazie V. Ewing of Shawnee died Saturday at a Midwest City hospital. She was 80.

Mrs. Ewing was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Strong City, Roger Mills, County. She moved with her mother and grandmother to Pottawatomie County in 1926.

She married Clay E. Honeycutt on Sept. 23, 1938, in Pottawatomie County. They had six children.

In 1962, she married Samuel Ashcraft, who preceded her in death in 1974.

She later married Clifford Ewing in 1975. He preceded her in death in 1984.

Mrs. Ewing was a member of Bible Temple Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents, Leonard C. Archer and Allie Gardner Archer Jones; and four stepsisters.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard C. Honeycutt of California and David M. Honeycutt of Shawnee; four daughters and a son-in-law, Dolly L. Carter and Martha B. Williams of Shawnee, Janie R. Norred of Oklahoma City and Ginger R. and Jim Stout of Midwest City; seven grandchildren, their spouses and children, Warren and Annette Norred and sons, Noah and Solomon; Rodney and Kris Norred and daughters, Trish and Sami, and sons, Alex and Ben of Arlington, Texas; Angela and Kevin Behrent and sons, Dylan and Max of Spanaway, Wash.; Shelli and Ricky English and daughters, Lacy and Paige of Mounds; Steven and Crystal Stout and daughter Alexa of Midwest City; Gina and Jim Page, son, Justice, and daughter, Jillian, of Choctaw; and Kelli Williams of Shawnee; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Johnny and Shirley Archer of McLoud and Carl Jones and Bill Jones of Cromwell; one stepbrother, Tom Jones of Luther; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nellie Smith of Oklahoma City, Lorene Honeywell of Shawnee, Rebecca and Tom Hauser of Waurika and Alta Jo and Leroy Thrower of Snyder, Texas; one stepsister, Marion Knight, Indianapolis, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Bible Temple Church with the Rev. Guy Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in McLoud under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Evelyn Mary (Sullinger) Woodard

Evelyn Mary (Sullinger) Woodard, 80, of Seminole died Sunday at a Prague nursing home.

She was born April 16, 1920, in Bowlegs, the daughter of William Robert Sullinger and Dora Belle (Sims) Sullinger.

She married Melvin Woodard in 1964.

She moved to Seminole County from San Jose, Calif., in 1970. She was supervisor at Sungarden Cannery where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 1969.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jack O'Dell; and second husband, Melvin Woodard in 1969.

Survivors include brothers, Clint Sullinger of Bowlegs and Robert Sullinger; sisters, Dorothy Everett of Al Viso, Calif., Lucille Rains of Bakersfield, Calif., Opal Northcutt of Salinas, Calif., and Bernice Cross of Bowlegs; and many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church, Bowlegs, with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
