Garrett

Patricia Sue "Patty" Garrett, 43, Edmond, formerly of Altus and Hobart, died Wednesday at her home in Edmond. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Ward Building in Edmond with Bishop Michael Presscott officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. at the Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart. Arrangements are under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf.

She was born Aug. 14, 1956 and on Dec. 6, 1956 was adopted by D.W. and Nelda Lee (Adams)) Nance. She attended Hobart High School and graduated from Altus High School. She sat as first chair trumpet throughout high school and was an accomplished pianist. She married Terry Garrett June 1, 1973 in Altus. She worked in accounting and was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served as Young Women's President, Relief Society President and many other positions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.W. and Nelda Nance; and one brother, Jim Nance.

Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Terry; a son, Terry G. Garrett of Midwest City, a daughter Aubrey of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren, Matylin Grace Garrett and Aidan Emory Woolcott.

Garrison

William M. (Bill) Garrison died Friday evening, Jan. 7, 2000, at his home. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Altus with the Rev. Ken Pate and the Rev. Scott Spencer officiating. Cremation will follow. Arrangement s are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Garrison was born July 19, 1925, in Ryan, to Roy and Beunah Keller Garrison and graduated from Ryan High School in 1943. On July 30, 1943, he married Dorene Shaffer in Ryan. He served during World War II in the Coast Guard.

He retired from Public Service Company after 39 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 32 degree Mason, a Shriner and a former member of the Altus City Council as well as being a former president of the Altus Chamber of Commerce.

Garrison was preceded in death by his wife Dorene on Aug. 3, 1999; his parents; three brothers, Kent, LeRoy and Paul Garrison.

Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands, Lorraine and John Crabb, Stillwater, Marti and Larry Taylor of Hollis and Lonni and Ted Boone of Burns Flat; one son, Bill Garrison, Jr. of Como, Miss.; one brother, O.B. Garrison of Chickasha; eight grandchildren, Jay Crabb and his wife Jennifer of Tulsa, Byron Crabb, also of Tulsa, Lt. Stephen and Lt. Laura Taylor of Goldsboro, N.C. and Grandsfork, N.D., Ty and Rusty Taylor of Hollis, Trey Garrison of Oklahoma City, Tad and Mandy Boone of Burns Flat, Staci Hunley and her husband Chris of Norman; two great grandsons; one step great granddaughter; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Hager

Lester Hurschel Hager, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Thursday at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Tatyrek of Willow officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Cemetery.

Hager was born April 12, 1918, in the White Flat Community to R.C. and Birdie Edwards Hager. He lived his life in the Greer County area.

He was well known for helping in the parking lot at football games and local fairs. He was an honorary member of the Tiger TV Crew, helped with numerous activities and often rode with the local police on their routes.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Hager was preceded in death by his mother on June 30, 1952; his father on Jan. 22, 1973; two brothers, C.M. Hager on Dec. 22, 1929 and Bert Hager on July 28, 1923.

He is survived by brothers, Earl Hager and his wife Beatrice of Willow and Price Hager and his wife Wanda of Odessa, Texas.

Hefner

Chapel service for Leta Mae Hefner, 82, Lubbock, Texas, are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe, Texas with the Rev. Truman Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hefner died Jan. 29, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 22, 1917, in Davidson. She married J.M. Hefner in Frederick on Dec. 6, 1941.

She graduated from Wilson District Consolidated #2 in Davidson. She was the daughter of W.A. and Buena Dickerson. She and her husband lived in Altus from 1946 until 1963, when they moved to Muleshoe. They retired in 1982 and traveled until 1988 when they moved to Carlsbad, N.M. In 1993, they moved to Lubbock.

Survivors include: her husband, J.M. Hefner of Lubbock; one daughter, Tana (Marshall) Young of Dimmitt, Texas; one sister, Gladys McAlister of Muleshoe; two grandchildren, Dana (Coy) Jameson of Friona, Texas and Jim (Susan) Holmes of Lubbock; three great grandchildren, Alexandra Holmes of Lubbock and Tyler Jordan and Joshua Kyle Jameson of Friona. She is also survived by one step-granddaughter, Darla and Dennis Rice and one step-great granddaughter, Danielle Rice.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice.

Hicks

Albert "Al" Alvis Hicks, 62, died at his home Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. David Chittenden officiating. Burial will follow at the Frederick Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 23, 1937, in Altus to Arthur A. and Alva Hodges Hicks. He attended schools in Altus. He worked in southwest Oklahoma as a carpenter, the OSU Research Station in Altus and Tipton, Altus Air Force Base, Shepard Air Force Base, Texas and Fort Sill. He married Shirley Ann Daugherty-Roberts Sept. 22,1977 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Floy Lee and Herbert Hicks.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; two daughters, Sara Roberts-Blasingame, Wichita Falls, Texas, Donna Roberts-Low and husband, Richard, Waxahachie, Texas; a son, Ricky Roberts and wife, Linda, Frederick; two sisters Bobbie McCluskey, Beaumont, texas and Billie Taylor, Altus; a grandson and six granddaughters.

Holthe

Otto L. Holthe, 71, long time Altus resident, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Haynes Dugan officiating. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Kincannon-Lee Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 26, 1928 in Red Wing, Minn. to Otto and Helen (Huber) Holthe. He graduated from high school at Red Wing. He married Sammie Doughtery Aug. 17, 1952 in Dallas. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 until his retirement in 1974 and had obtained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He worked at the base commissary and in the Civil Service until his retirement in 1990. He attended Western Oklahoma State College and obtained a bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Air Force Association. His hobbies included coaching, golf and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Otto and a sister, Barbara Hersko.

Survivors include his wife, Sammie of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Al Colangelo of Germany; Cindy and Gary Carrick of Collierville, Tenn.; three sons, and two daughters-in-law, Otto Lawrence Jr. and Nancy Holthe of Sentinel, Sam and Rose marie Holthe of Duncan and John Holthe of Altus; his mother, Helen Holthe of Ellsworth, Kan.; six grandchildren and many friends.

The family requests memorials be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church of Altus.

Kastner

Ruby Kastner, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Monday at Lowell-Tims Chapel with the Rev. C.W. Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Kastner was born Nov. 13, 1910, at Greenville, Texas, the daughter of Joseph Willis and Minnie Talbert Rollins. She married Hiram Stanford Kastner on July 7, 1933 at Altus. She was a longtime resident of Altus and Jackson County. She was a homemaker and member of the Southside Baptist Church.

Kastner was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ray, Erb, Lester, Carl, Harl and Bill Rollins and one sister, Thelma Roberson Goolsby.

Survivors include: three children, Daphne Hanna and husband Bob of Woodward, Jackie Stinnett and husband Richard of Lowry City, Mo. and Steve Kastner and wife Judy of Altus; her husband, Hiram Stanford Kastner, Altus; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Keck

Cecil H. Keck, 65, Temple, died Jan. 26, at Randlett. Graveside services conducted from the Temple Cemetery 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Craig Stuke officiating. Services are under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.

He was born to Jim and Lize (Richards) Keck April 17, 1934 at Boswell. He grew up in the Altus area and attended both Friendship and Martha schools. He service in the United States Army. He worked most of his life as a building contractor mainly in the construction field around Altus but also around Lawton many other Oklahoma towns. He was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, David Harrison in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta of Temple; two daughters, Bonnie Gessner of Walters and Anita Martin of Longview, Texas; two stepdaughters, Teresa England of Paris and Kim Bowman of Burton, Texas; a step-son, Steven England of Chickasha; six sisters, Joy Anderson of Walters, Francis Bigford of Randlett, Jewel Green of Temple, Pat Gilley of Comanche, Mary Kincannon of Altus and Barbara Gilley of Canadian, texas; two brothers, Donald Wayne Keck of Oklahoma City and Dwight Keck of Phoenix; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Laird

Longtime Olustee resident Herbert W. "Red" Laird, 87, died Dec. 31 at Grace Living Center, Altus. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bill Osborne and Ed Lobaugh officiating. intement will follow in the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family will have visitation from 2-4 p.m. today at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 26, 1912 in Davidson to George and Nellie May (Black) Laird. On Oct. 25, 1942 he and Auneta Brunson were united in marriage in Altus. She preceded him in death July 15, 1986. In 1990, he married Etta Jean Hestand in Olustee. She preceded him in death in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II for four years, most of which was overseas. He was the postmaster in Olustee until his retirement in December of 1977. He was an active member of the Church of Christ in Olustee for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, one brother, five stepbrothers, one stepsister and one step grandson.

He is survived by five stepdaughters, Florence Russell of DeQueen, Arkansas, Barbara Pryor and husband Jim of Olustee, Peggy Miller and husband Robert of Altus, Janice Rohde and husband Bill of Kansas City, Missouri, and Sandra Hestand of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by one sister Edith Preston, Altus; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ in Olustee in memory of Herby W. "Red" Laird.

Landes

Services for Eugene Hansford Landes, 88, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Coy Parsley, officiating and Rev. Truman Ferguson, pastor of the First Christian Church, assisting. He died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000 in Frederick following a lengthy illness. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1912 to Devol to Oliver Steele and Sarah (Wilkins) Sears Landes. He was a graduate of Devol High School. At the age of 15 he attended the University of Oklahoma and played on the football team. He received a bachelors in education from Central State University and a masters in education from Southwestern State University. He joined the United States Army in 1943 and was discharged in December of 1945. While serving, he was awarded many honors including the Purple Heart. He married May 14, 1938 in Frederick. He was a life time member and awarded lifetime elder at the First Christian Church. He helped with the construction of the new building. He was a school teacher in this area for 40 years before retiring. He was also a successful farmer in Tillman County for many years. He was a member of the Tillman-jackson Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Cleta Merle, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Merle Hansford and Sandy Landes of Frederick; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, William Orpheus, Reeford, Clifton and Clayton landes; a sister, Ora DeVeryl Akin.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Lee

Jamie Aldred Lee, 81, died Jan. 12 at Memorial Health University in Savannah, Ga. after a brief illness. Services were held Saturday at the Statesboro, Ga. First United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Adams officiating. The Rev. Karen Prevatt and the Rev. Fred Maddox will assist. Burial will be at the Eastside Cemetery.

She was a graduate of the University of Georgia. She was a retired bookkeeper for Altman Pontiac after 15 years of service. She was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church where she was member of the the Crusaders Sunday School Class.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Gayle Lee of Altus, John and Malvina Lee of Tampa, Fla. and Don and Tersa Lee of Hagan; and five grandchildren.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 534, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.

Lewis

Wallace "Boots" Lewis, 89, Altus, died Thursday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Bennie Alexander and Elder Charles Conway officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 29, 1910, in Reagan, Texas , to Wallace and Amanda "Mandy" (Snowden) Lewis. Boots was a long-time resident of Altus and Jackson County. He married Bernice Green March 5, 1994, in Altus. He worked on the railroad and was a foreman at the Altus Cotton Compress where he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in Altus.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice, of the home in Altus; a daughter, Earlene Lewis, Altus; six grandchildren, Patricia Jenkins, Elvita Martin, Wallace Lewis Foster, George Foster, Beverly Foster and Amanda Holman; 15 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Eassie V. Horton, Cassie Mae Walton, Victoria Lewis, Sarah Rendalle, Gertrude Robinson, Pearleane Allison; a brother, Willie Lee Harris and a nieces, Mildred Thomas.
