Marion Mildred Campbell
Marion Mildred Hawkins Williams Campbell, 94, of Shawnee died Friday at a local nursing home.
She was born April 23, 1907, in Shawnee to William Paul and Maggie (Minnieham) Hawkins.

Campbell attended Central Grade School, Junior High School and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1926. She later attended Oklahoma Baptist University for one year and three summers. She graduated from East Central State College in Ada with a bachelor's degree in education. She received her master's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma in 1950.

She taught grade school for many years at Alluwe, Okla.; Saint Louis, Okla.; Maud, Oklahoma Central School; Tishomingo; Seminole; and at Harrison and Horace Mann schools in Shawnee. She was a substitute teacher in Shawnee until she was 80.

She married Charles H. Campbell in Madill in 1970.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church's Lydia Sunday school class and served as superintendent of the 6- and 7-year-old department. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Retired Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota and AARP.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, first husband William Scott Williams in 1953, and second husband Charles H. Campbell in 1997.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, James Herbert and Virginia Williams of Lawrence, Kan., and Billy Scott Williams of Salina, Okla.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.

Lela Pearl Click
Shawnee resident Lela Pearl Click, 89, died Sunday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel, Shawnee.

Bob B. Dooty
Bob B. Dooty, 77, of Meeker died Monday at Midwest City.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Meeker Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.

Arrangements are under the direction of Park Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Clifford Edward Briery II
Clifford Edward "Cliff" Briery II of Seminole died Sunday at Southwest Medical Center at the age of 51.

Survivors include his parents, C.E. and Genny Briery of Seminole; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Michael Townsend of Plano, Texas; aunts, Helen Jones, Velva Rogers, both of Oklahoma City, Edna Marie Briery, Shreveport, La., and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Noma Mansell officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mable V. Price
Mable V. "Pat" Price of Shawnee died Monday in Shawnee at the age of 86.

She was born in Chautauqua, Kan., on Sept. 4, 1916, to A.J. and Effie Anna (Hann) Slates.

She married Earnest Dean "Buddy" Price on June 14, 1947, in Mesa, Ariz.

She was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

Her husband, parents, brothers, sisters and two sons, Mike and Daryl Price, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Price, Shawnee; daughter-in-law, Wanda Wilson, Olathe, Kan.; granddaughters Cara Price, Oskaloosa, Kan.; Sabrina Neacy, Lake George, N.Y.; Karina Voutas, Lincoln, Neb.; Sarah Price, Olathe, Kan.; and Kristina Price, Olathe, Kan.; three great-grandchildren; foster daughters, Alverder Carlisle, Oklahoma City; Zandra Michel, Denver, Colo.; Lalana Renard, Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah with the Rev. Glen Walters and David Price officiating. Burial will be at Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Rubye Jo Henson
Former Shawnee resident Rubye Jo Henson, 91, died Saturday at a Grove nursing center.

She was born June 1, 1911, to Leslie and Appie Stevens on an Indian lease north of McLoud.

She graduated from McLoud High School in 1929, attended East Central Teachers College, Ada, and acquired a lifetime teaching certificate.

She taught in McLoud for three years, at the Kickapoo School northeast of McLoud for one year, and one year in Alabama. She worked for 22 years at Tinker Air Force Base and retired from civil service in 1970.

She married William J. Henson, who preceded her in death in 1948.

She was a member of McLoud First Baptist Church since 1924, received a 50-year pin from the Order of the Eastern Star, was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary, AARP, and the only member from McLoud of the Gold Star Wives.

She also was preceded in death by her father, her mother, brothers, Charles A. Stevens, Clair J. Stevens, Mason Stevens, and a sister, Lily Reed.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. and Bobbie Henson, Disney; grandchildren, Tonda Shelton, Norman, and Eric J. Henson, Coconut Creek, Fla., and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, McLoud with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Jess H. Powell
Jess H. Powell of Shawnee died Monday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 82.

He was born July 14, 1920, in Clinton to Jess and Ella Powell.

He attended the Oklahoma Military Academy at Claremore and Oklahoma Baptist University.

He married Joyce I. Brookover on July 3, 1946, in Shawnee. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was an advertising manager at The Shawnee News-Star and retired from Tinker Air Force Base.

Powell was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Shawnee Roundup Club and Oklahoma Civil Air Patrol.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Joyce Powell.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Powell of the home; son, Jess J. Powell of Bristow; daughter and son-in-law, Janice (Powell) and Ron Long of Shawnee; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jess A. and Sherry Powell of Norman, Jeannie and Gregory Smith of Shawnee, Kathy Dockrey of Oklahoma City, Jessica Dockrey of Shawnee and Jewell-lea Dockrey of Shawnee; seven great-grandchildren and a number of brothers and sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Jeff Burress officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

George E. Johnson
George "G.E." Johnson, 78, of Tecumseh died Monday in Shawnee.

He was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Tecumseh to George Eddly Sr. and Leah Etta (Kindle) Johnson and was a Tecumseh resident most of his life. He attended school at Harjo and Forest View.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In July 1969, he married Sandra Kristof in Las Vegas, Nev.

He worked in the oil fields before beginning work as a truck driver. He retired from LeeWay Motor Freight in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Johnson, and a daughter, Georjia Walker.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Johnson, of the home; daughters, Tommie House of Bartow, Fla., Kris Cartwright of Tecumseh and Shayla Nowell of Tecumseh; sons, Travis Johnson of Shawnee and Clay Johnson of California; stepchildren, Robert Milholland and Trisha Murray, both of California; sister, June Malcom of Maud, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Ronnie Churchwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Bonnie Poe
Seminole resident Bonnie Poe, 57, died Friday.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Seminole. Further information is pending.

Shellie Ray Mannon
Shellie Ray Mannon, 94, died Thursday at his home in Yakima, Wash.

He was born April 18, 1907, in Fort Collins, Colo., to Robert and Margaret (Halsell) Mannon.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee.

He married Alice Alene Mitchell Nov. 28, 1928, in Weleetka, Okla. They were married for 32 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; nine brothers and sisters; three children, Margaret Mannon, Marvin Mannon and Barbara Puckett; and one great-grandson; Marvin Mannon III.

Survivors include two daughters June Cowherd of Oklahoma City and Phyllis Mannon Anderson of Yakima, Wash.; 15 grandchildren, Jimmy Cowherd, Linda Westfall, Brenda Borth, Steve Cowherd, Sherry Gibson, Shelley Ogle, Carol Shepherd, Debbie Puskas, Jackie Pannell, Shannon Anderson, Bobbi Dillman, Jo Sims, Jenny Bagley, Marvin Mannon Jr., and Tommy Mannon; two sisters, Dora Lee Brazell of Chico, Calif., and Ruth Ditzler of Tulsa; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be noon Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial service will be 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery of Weleetka under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Alisha LeAnn Lopez
Alisha LeAnn Lopez, 5, of Shawnee died Friday at a local hospital.

She was born June 16, 1996, in Shawnee to Vincent Lopez and Veronica (Hulbutta) Lopez.

She attended Wilson Early Childhood Center.

Survivors include her parents, Vincent and Veronica Lopez of Shawnee; two sisters, Anita and Aerial Lopez of Shawnee; one brother, Andrew Lopez of Shawnee; Maternal grandparents Wanda Sewell of Seminole and Paul and Elaine Hulbutta of Wewoka; paternal grandparents Robert and Deloris Lopez of Shawnee; great-grandparents Daniel Wind and Margaret Raider; aunts and uncles, Randy, Chris, Frank, Sally, Melissa, Crystal, Christina and Russell Hulbutta, Shrea and Alex Rull and Robert and Lisa Lopez.

Wake service will be 6 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

John Albert Carter
John Albert Carter, 57, Midwest City, died Thursday.
Survivors include one brother, Olin Carter, Valpariso, Ind.; two sisters, Janette Feist, Medford, Okla., and Sandra Carter, Caldwell, Kan.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah.

George T. Nail
George T. Nail, 96, of Tecumseh died Wednesday in Tecumseh.
He was born Nov. 11, 1905, in McClain County, Oklahoma Territory, the son of James Manuel and Alice (Davis) Nail.

Nail was a long-time resident of Pottawatomie County. He farmed his entire life and also worked as a foreman for an asphalt company.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

On Jan. 31, 1925, he married Bessie J. Wallace in Tecumseh.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 23, 1993, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Billie Nail and Clayton and Edith Nail, all of Shawnee, Eugene and Pauline Nail of Asher and Glenn and Helen Nail of Wanette; a daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Cecil Franklin of Yamhill, Ore.; two sisters, Ethel Thomason of California and Bessie Wiggins of Florida; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be 10 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Archie Beller and the Rev. James McCalip officiating. Burial will be in the Wanette Cemetery.

Louis (Alois) Svec
Shawnee resident Louis (Alois) Svec, 82, died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1919, in Flushing, N.Y., to Jerry and Anastasia (Stadola) Svec.

He attended school in Flushing. He was an advertising photographer in New York City before moving to Shawnee in 1952. He was an aircraft assembler for Jonco and Fairchild Aircraft. He was employed at Tinker Air Force Base as an equipment specialist until his 1982 retirement.

He married Claire McIver Dec. 15, 1945.

He served in the U.S. Air Force 34th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron in England, France and Germany during World War II. Svec was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Claire, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Svec and Dr. Patricia Fenderson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Michael and Elaine Svec of Oklahoma City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Richard Thweatt of Helena, Mont., and Kathy and Robert Shaban of Shawnee; four granddaughters, Aspen and Lace Svec and Anastasia and Marietta Svec; and two brothers, Frank and Charles Svec, both of Peconic, N.Y.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Amanda Lockwood officiating. The casket will not be opened at the service.
