William C. Smith
William C. "Bill" Smith, 84, died Saturday at his home north of Prague.

He was born May 28, 1918, in Paden to Vester and Katie Smith.

He graduated from Paden High School in 1937 and attended college at Oklahoma State University before beginning his career in car sales. His first job was with Loyd Grimes Dodge and Plymouth in Prague.

In March 1941, Smith was called into the United States Army. He was stationed in Ft. Sill, Okla., for basic training, then transferred to Camp Grant in Rockford, Ill. He was promoted from private to corporal and began training new draftees.

He remained at Camp Grant until 1943 and then transferred to Ft. Benning, Ga., to begin training at a field hospital. He was sent to England and promoted to master sergeant, assigned to the 53rd General Hospital and gained another promotion. He continued with that status until his discharge in 1945.

After his military tour, Smith returned to Prague and began his 50-year career in auto sales.

He married Doris O. Fennel in 1949 and they remained in Prague during the 53 years of their marriage, raising four children.

Smith was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Herman Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Doris O. Smith, of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Peggy Smith of Prague and Dennis Smith of Oklahoma City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and David Harden of Prague and Janet and Kenneth Coffey of Oklahoma City; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Donna Smith of Prague, Herbert and Sue Smith of Prague, and Glen and Neta Smith of Enid; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends and family.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Prague with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in Prague Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Evelyn N. Gregory
Evelyn N. Gregory, 79, of Harrah died Saturday at a Harrah home.

Survivors include three sons, Gene Gregory, Joe Gregory and George Gregory; two daughters, Laverne Dethrow and Ginger McDermott; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Harrah Freewill Baptist Church, Reno and Dobbs Road, with the Rev. Jimmy Holbrook officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Patricia A. Randash
Patricia A. Randash, 63, of Shawnee died Monday at her home.

Jerry Ronald Austin Sr.
Jerry Ronald Austin Sr., 63, of Tecumseh died Sunday in Tecumseh.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Shawnee with the Rev. Clint Dawkins and the Rev. Wayne Cathey officiating.

Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Other arrangements are pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Karen S. Bramble
Karen S. Bramble, 38, Yukon, died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born Nov. 25, 1963, in Lafayette, Ind., to Hubert L. Bramble and Juanita (Calhoun) Bramble. She was reared in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Public Schools. She later graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford with a degree in French. She was a teacher and taught at numerous schools in the metro area. She also was a licensed real estate agent who worked with Marilyn Pryor Real Estate.

She lived several years in Yukon.

Preceding her in death were her father, Hugh Bramble and an aunt, Emma Pauline Clark.

Surviving are her mother, Juanita Bramble, Mustang, and numerous cousins and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. James Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Faye I. Stanwood
Faye I. Stanwood, 94, of Shawnee died Saturday at a local hospital.

She was born Feb. 3, 1908, in Gasville, Ark., to John and Nancy (Newton) Loman.

She attended school in Arkansas and worked as a beautician.

She married Robert Stanwood in 1927 in Aurora, Mo. She had lived in Shawnee since 1951 and was a member of Dale First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, five brothers, five sisters and three stepsons.

Surviving are two sisters, Ethel Slate of Shawnee and Bessie Jordan of Shawnee; a brother, Ed Loman of McLoud; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Foster of California; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Dr. Montie A. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Joseph Edward McClendon Jr.
Joseph Edward McClendon Jr., 78, Shawnee, died Saturday at his home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Farris to Joseph Edward and Ida (Johnson) McClendon.

He married Jackie Adams on Feb. 20, 1954, in Old Mexico. He was a construction contractor who also was a veteran of World War II. He received four Bronze Stars during his military service and was a member of the American Legion and the Assembly of God Church.

He lived in and around Shawnee all his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Bill Bell of Shawnee and Kaylene McClendon of Shawnee; a son, Jerome McClendon of Shawnee; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lois and LeRoy Buckmaster of Shawnee and Carol Herron of Texas; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Alma Crystal Campbell
Former Asher and Tecumseh resident Alma Crystal Campbell of East Bend, N.C., died Saturday, Sept. 20, in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was 99 years old.

She was born Aug. 24, 1904, in Pope County, Ark., to Henry and Dora Mae (Bagwell) Sartors.

She was a member of Asher First Baptist Church and was active with Asher Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Campbell; her parents, and her two sons, Ralph and Hoyt Campbell.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Betty Campbell of King, N.C.; Max and Bonnie Campbell of Winston-Salem; a brother, R.G. Sartors of Holdenville; a sister, Wilma Bratcher of Tecumseh, and many other family members.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Asher First Baptist Church with the Rev. J.D. Dowdell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dwayne Johnson. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home.

Wanda H. Roberts
Shawnee resident Wanda H. Roberts died Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Oklahoma City. She was 80 years old.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park of Shawnee. Clifford Craig will officiate.

Alma L. Taylor
Former Shawnee resident Alma L. Taylor of Seminole died Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the age of 93.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Shawnee.

Leroy Richard Ramsey
Leroy Richard Ramsey died Saturday, Sept. 22.

He was born in Shamrock, Okla., Sept. 22, 1920, to Richard Lang and Nellie Ramsey.

He was an Army veteran, retired from civil service work at Tinker Air Force Base, and a member of Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Anna; his parents, and a brother, Bud Ramsey.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ric Williams, Ann and Gerald Lovett; son and daughter-in-law, L.R. and Susan Ramsey; a sister, Irene Snyder; two brothers, Charlie Ramsey and Don Ramsey; six grandchildren and their spouses, Gina and Johnie Fredman, Scott and Sandra Burlison, Amy Ramsey, David Ramsey, Glen Lovett, Richard and Jennifer Lovett, and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Church of Christ, Tecumseh. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home of Midwest City.

Bob J. Blodgett
Bob J. Blodgett of Edmond died Friday, Sept. 12, in Shawnee. He was 79.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nellie (Pledger) Blodgett.

He is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Lorene Jordan of Tecumseh, sisters-in-law, Oweta Chaffin of Oklahoma City and Joan Pledger of California, and many other relatives.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at First Baptist Church of Tecumseh. The Rev. Tim Walker and the Rev. Larry Sparks will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Walter Kent
Walter "Walt" Kent, 88, of Tecumseh died Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Tecumseh.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Schumpert officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Randash
Patricia Ann Randash, 63, Shawnee, died Monday at her home.

She was born April 12, 1939, in Lemmon, S.D., to Steven Braun and Amelia (Heil) Braun.

She graduated from Lemmon High School and attended business college.

On Oct. 3, 1964, she was married to Larry L. Randash in Bismark, N.D., and spend most of her life as a homemaker.

She had been a resident of Shawnee since 1968.

Preceding her in death were her father, Steve Braun, husband Larry Randash; and sister Charlene Braun.

Surviving are her mother, Amelia Braun of Minnesota; three children and their spouses, Debra Kay Hembree and husband, Mitch, of Shawnee; Kent Steven Randash of Shawnee; and Zona LeAnn Storie and husband, Shane, of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Aaron and Noah Hembree, Baylee and Zane Storie; four sisters, Ilene Duncan and husband, Jim, of South Dakota; Ann Runnels and husband, Lynn, of Wisconsin, Kathy Seitz and husband, Carl, of Nevada; two brothers Eugene Braun of Nevada and Don Braun and wife, Betty, of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Memorial contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society, 4323 N.W. 63rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Frances Bell Thornton
Frances Bell (Charter) Thornton, formerly of Galena, Kan., died Monday in Choctaw.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Sue and Ray Ross and of Choctaw, Jerry Walter and Sharon Thornton of Raytown, Mo., four grandchildren and their spouses, seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, Okla., with services under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Fred L. Alexander
Fred L. Alexander, 74, formerly of Prague, died Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Jerry Ronald Austin, Sr.
Jerry Ronald Austin, Sr., 63, of Tecumseh, died Sunday morning at his home after a six month battle with cancer. He was born on May 10, 1939, in Shawnee, the son of Jesse Ronald and Ruby Elizabeth (Mangus) Austin. He grew up in the Shawnee area, attended Shawnee schools, and was a member of the Class of 1957. He married Wynell Hodges on October 9, 1959. They had three children; Jerry Austin, Jr., Terri Lynn, and Lisa Ann. Jerry began his working career in the grocery business in 1956 in Shawnee. In 1967, he opened Pratt Foods as manager, on Broadway and Main in Tecumseh. He relocated the store to the current site in 1973. He opened Stone's IGA as manager in Tecumseh Square Shopping Center in 1975. Jerry left the grocery business in 1981 and began working at White's ACE Building Materials Center in Shawnee. Upon his retirement in August 2001, he was Advertising and Purchasing Director. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church where he had served in many areas throughout the years, including chairman of the deacons, music director, building committee chairman throughout two building programs, and Sunday School teacher. He was also active in many professional organizations. He served on the Bison Federal Credit Union Board of Directors from 1990 - 1993. He served as zone chairman for Allied Building Stores for several years. He was a director for Oklahoma Lumber Association from 1997 - 1999 and he was a member of the Shawnee Ambassador's Club until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Wynell Austin, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Rhonda Austin of Tyler, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, David and Terri Williams of Macomb, Oklahoma and Chris and Lisa Davis of Warner, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Seth and Rachel Austin, Susan and Colter Williams, Jordan and Morgan Davis; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Delores Austin of Moore, Oklahoma and Phil and Kelly Austin of Oklahoma City; Four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Manie Roach of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Darryl and Delores Wilsie of Tecumseh, Bill and Geraldine Hodges of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Dr. E.L. "Skip" and Mary McNeal of Sanger, Texas; his dear friends from White's ACE Building Materials Center, and a host of other very special family and friends. A service honoring his life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Shawnee with the Rev. Clint Dawkins and Rev. Wayne Cathey officiating. Burial will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
