Robert E. Daggett

A service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Forest Grove for Robert E. Daggett, who died April 2 at 81. Mr. Daggett was born Oct. 10, 1919 in Eureka, Mont. He graduated from St. Helens High School and earned a degree in education at Willamette University; he later earned a master's degree at Willamette. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a teacher and coach in Charlo, Mont., then in Dallas and St. Helens. He was a teacher, coach and principal at David Douglas High School. He served in the Job Corps in Astoria for a year, then became principal at the new Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park, Calif.. In 1943, he married Dorinda Brakke.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Robert Jr. and Peter; daughters, Dorinda Holloway, Nancy Osborne and Amy Petti; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Remembrances to the Robert E. Daggett Scholarship Fund at Rancho Cotate High School. Arrangements by Columbia Funeral Home.

Delores May Donegan

Delores May Donegan died March 27, 2001, at age 67. Mrs. Donegan was born Delores Birchard on June 28, 1933, in Portland. She worked as an assembly supervisor at Tektronix Inc., retiring in 1984.

Survivors include her daughters, Tamra Sue Howard and Stephanie Sue Donegan; mother, Esther K. McMoran; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

No service. Arrangements by Alpine Cremation and Burial Services.

Lewis Elenbogen

A service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Holman's Funeral Service for Lewis Elenbogen, who died April 1 at age 81. Mr. Elenbogen was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Portland, where he lived all his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a driver and superintendent for Radio Cab for 44 years. In the early 1950s, he married Esther Angelos; she died in 1983.

Survivors include his daughters, Patricia A. and Louise M.; sister, Alta Weinberg; brother, Marvin; one grandchild; and friend Susie Mosley.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to Hopewell House or Diabetes Association.

L.G. Hellweg

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at Skyline Memorial Gardens for L.G. Hellweg, who died April 1 at age 78. Mr. Hellweg was born April 3, 1922, in Carroll, Neb. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. In 1946, he moved to Portland, where he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired in 1981. In 1944, he married Betty Spillman; she died in 1989.

Survivors include his son, Gary; brother, Duane; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Interment in Skyline Memorial Gardens.

Bernerd Glenn Hoggatt

A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home in Kelso, Wash., for Bernerd Glenn Hoggatt, who died April 3 at 78. Mr. Hoggatt was born May 21, 1922, in Kalama, Wash. He graduated from Kalama High School in 1940 and served in the Army in the Pacific campaign during World War II. After the war, he lived in Kalama, in California Portland, then Longview, Wash.. He worked in the grocery business, logging, construction and apartment management before retiring in 1991. He married Margaret LaCroix on June 18, 1941.

He is survived by his wife; sons Robert, Daniel and David; daughters Jeannie Storedahl, Candice LaCroix and Debra Holmes; brother, John Hoggatt; sister, Darlene Saban; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. An infant son, Ricky, died in 1960.

Interment will be at the International Order of Odd Fellows cemetery in Kalama. Remembrances to Community Home, Health & Hospice in Longview. Arrangements by Dahl-McVicker.

Walter R. Holmstrom

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Lake Oswego United Methodist Church for Walter R. Holmstrom, who died April 2 at age 87. Mr. Holmstrom was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Faribault, Minn. He graduated from the University of Minnesota. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in China and Burma. Before and after the war, he was a civil engineer for U.S. Steel in the American bridge division for 35 years, first in Minnesota and Denver, then transferring to Portland in 1970. He retired the same year. In 1938, he married Clarice Parkin.

Survivors include his wife; son, Robert; daughter, Holly Henry; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Interment in Lake Oswego Pioneer cemetery. Remembrances to Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements by Riverview Abbey.

Clyde Frederick Jabin

A service will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Clyde Frederick Jabin of Salem, who died in a car crash April 2 at age 73. Mrs. Jabin was a former newsman for United Press International.

Leta O. Johnson

A service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hillsboro for Leta O. Johnson, who died April 1 at age 82. Mrs. Johnson was born Leta O. Wilson on May 19, 1918, in Owatonna, Minn. She moved to Beaverton in 1938 and worked for Tektronix for 27 years, retiring as a technician in about 1984. In 1938, she married Donald E. Johnson; he died in 1978.

Survivors include her son, Boyd; daughter, Monica Rencher; sister, Lorraine Huberg; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Remembrances to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Pegg, Paxson & Springer.

Durwood Daniel Meskel

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Young's Funeral Home for Durwood Daniel Meskel, who died March 31 at age 70. Mr. Meskel was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Seneca, S.D., and was raised in Portland. He graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Fulton Meat for 19 years, retiring in 1995. He coached Little League Baseball in Tigard for eight years. In 1954, he married Dorothy "Jody" Muir.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Duke, Tim, Scott and Patrick; daughter, Karen Mayer; sisters, Ardice Larson and Beverly Braaten; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Remembrances to any hospice.

Diana Grace Skidmore Meyer

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship for Diana Grace Skidmore Meyer, who died March 29 at age 67. Ms. Meyer was born Diana Grace Skidmore on Aug. 28, 1933, in Los Angeles. She graduated from the University of Oregon in 1956 and moved to Portland from Medford in 1983. An elementary school teacher, she most recently organized private foreign-language classes for IES Corp. until about 1995. Her artwork was exhibited at many galleries, including the Doll Gardner Gallery and the Jacksonville Art Gallery.

Survivors include her daughters, Jeanne and Carol; brothers, Harold E. Skidmore Jr. and Daniel Skidmore; sister, Gayle Schilling; and three grandchildren.

Rita I. Moran

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Portland for Rita I. Moran, who died April 1 at age 82. Mrs. Moran was born Rita I. Hogan on Sept. 20, 1918, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She immigrated to Portland in 1928 and graduated from St. Stephen's High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Astoria. She was a homemaker and periodically a nurse at St. Joseph's Care Center. She was a 72-year member of the church. In 1945, she married John Moran.

Survivors include her husband; sons, John, James, Joseph, Francis, Anthony, Philip, Brian and Michael; daughters, Teresa M. Wikander and Ellen M. Wood; sisters, Florence Dolan and Noreen Hite; 28 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Interment in Mt. Calvary Catholic cemetery. Remembrances to her church. Arrangements by Zeller.

Esther Morris

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Neveh Zedek-Rose City Lodge cemetery for Esther Morris, who died April 4 at age 83. Mrs. Morris was born Esther Slimovsky on Feb. 27, 1918, in Glasgow, Scotland. She moved to Portland in 1978. She married Manuel Morris in 1938; he died in about 1966.

Survivors include her sons, Lewis B. and Michael; daughter, Shirley; sister, Cecelia Lewis; brothers, Joseph Samuels and Alex Samuels; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Virginia Satterlee

Virginia Satterlee died March 28, 2001, at age 78. Mrs. Satterlee was born Virginia Hamilton on April 28, 1922, in Yuma, Colo., and was raised there and in Bedford, Iowa. She worked in production for Sunstrand Data in Seattle before moving to Milwaukie in 1998. She married Robert Springer in 1942; they later divorced. She married Neil Satterlee in 1964; he died in 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Masser; sister, Doris J. Parsons; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

No service. Arrangements by Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
