Dawn Elaine (Feather) Hetzler
July 7, 1946 – March 14, 2010

Dawn E. Hetzler, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away on March 14, 2010, at the age of 63. Dawn was born to Don and Mildred (Rolson) Feather on July 7, 1946, in Portland, Oregon. She was married to Charles Hetzler, who predeceased her. Dawn had two children: Daughter Michelle (Dean) Harris of Warren, Oregon, and son David Hetzler of Portland, Oregon, as well as two grandchildren: Lindsey and Jacob Harris.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope Community Church, 11731 SE Stevens Road, Portland, Oregon 97086. Arrangements were made with Crown Memorial Center at the Milwaukie location.

Joan Lee Miller

Joan Lee (Davison) Miller, passed away at her home in Oregon City, Oregon on March 13, 2010. She was 67. Joan was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to Carroll and Edna Davison on January 3, 1943. Her family moved to Oregon when she was barely a year old, and Joan grew up in the Hermiston suburb of Stanfield, Oregon. Joan married Michael Scott Miller on October 7, 1967 and the happy couple had two boys together, Geoffrey and Brady. Joan was a homemaker who had countless hobbies including gardening, antiquing, furniture finishing, singing, sewing and taking in Oregon’s beautiful landscapes. She also played a vital role in her church, Oregon City First Presbyterian, where she was a deacon.

Joan is survived by her husband, Michael Scott Miller, of Oregon City, Oregon; son and daughter-in-law, Geoffrey Scott Miller and Linda Thomas, of Taluka Lake, California; son and daughter-in-law, Brady Scott Miller and Valerie Miller, of Beaverton, Oregon; grandson, Ryan Scott Miller, of Beaverton, Oregon; sister, Carolyn Houle, of San Lorenzo, California; sister, Sharon Conner, of Portland, Oregon; sister, Jackie Bailey, of Silverton, Oregon; sister, Sandy Neustel, of Lebanon, Oregon; sister, Melissa Monkus, of Pendleton, Oregon; and brother, Ed Davison, of Standfield, Oregon. A Memorial Service will be held at the Oregon City First Presbyterian Church on April 9, 2010, at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon City First Presbyterian Deacons. Arrangements were entrusted to Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie.

Alan Leo Wilson
January 29, 1949 – March 11, 2010 Alan Wilson

Alan Leo Wilson, 61, passed away on March 11, 2010 at his home in Tualatin with family at his side. Alan was born on January 29, 1949 in Germantown, Pennsylvania to Franklin and Maxine Wilson. At the age of 7, Alan moved to Salem, Oregon with his family. He graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. On March 22, 1975, Alan married Connie Jane Harms in Dallas, Oregon and the couple had two children, Jeffery and Stacy.

Alan loved the outdoors and he began his career as a logger. He later worked as a writer and photographer at Capitol Press, a lobbyist at Associated Oregon Industries, and then he went on to own a public relations and advertising agency, Wilson, Donaldson and Associates. On his personal time, Alan sought out activities such as bicycling, fishing, hunting, hiking and camping. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, writing and reading. Alan was fortunate to retire early and spend time traveling with Connie, both in the United States and internationally.

Alan is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Connie Wilson; son Jeffery Wilson and fiancée Alexa Kinney of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter Stacy Wilson of Tualatin; mother Maxine Wilson of Salem; brother Wayne Wilson and wife Sally of Oak Hill, VA and nephew Kyle Wilson. He is preceded in death by his father Franklin B. Wilson.

A family memorial will be held. Charitable donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.

James (Jim) H. Classen

Jim, a well-known automotive machinist and mechanic, died peacefully Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home in Portland, Oregon surrounded by his family. He was 83.

A native Oregonian, Jim was born February 17, 1927 to Gerhard and Mary Classen, and raised in Beaverton, Oregon.

Jim married Betty Schell, April 24, 1949 and together they had five children: Dennis, Randy, Jim, Cindy and Sherri.

After retiring from West Bearing, Jim continued his love for fine machines and spent his retired years pursuing his passion for restoring antique cars. His 1936 Packard won many awards including 1990 Sweepstakes, and 1991 feature car at the Concours d’Elegance in Forest Grove. Jim’s expertise at restoring antique engines was in great demand among car enthusiasts. Jim proudly transported three of his children and one of his grandchildren to their weddings in his Packard.

Some of Jim’s other passions included fly-fishing. His favorite vacation spot was Camp Sherman on the Metolius River, where he spent many summers with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife Betty; children Dennis (Myra); Randy (Linda); Jim; Cindy (Michael) Durham; Sherri; grandchildren: Katie (Zachary) Carver; Kira; Kevin; Derek; Isabel.

A memorial service to remember and honor Jim will be held at 11 am Thursday March 25, 2010 at St. John Fisher Church, 7007 SW 46th Avenue, Portland, OR 97219. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.

Anthony (Tony) S. Marino
March 27, 1937 – March 11, 2010

Tony S. Marino, of Oregon City, Oregon, passed away at his home on March 11, 2010, at the age of 72. Tony was born to Tony S. and Edith (Nelson) Marino, in Banning, California, on March 27, 1937. He married Linda R. Kilander on December 27, 1970, in Portland Oregon, and they had 2 daughters: Kelly Hester of Bend, Oregon, and Karri Hardin of Portland, Oregon. Tony is predeceased by his mother, Lou Marino.

Tony graduated Jefferson High School in 1955 and later joined the Marine Corps. He was owner of Marino’s Furniture Store in North Portland and retired in 2002. He was a member of Pacific NW 4-Wheel Drive Association (PNW4WDA), as well as old car clubs and the old car swap meet.

A Memorial Service and pot-luck will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, 1 p.m. at the Museum of the Oregon Territory, 211 Tumwater Drive, by the Oregon City Falls.

Arrangements were made by Crown Memorial Center at the Milwaukie location.

Bradley “Bubba” Buck

Bradley “Bubba” Buck of Gladstone, OR passed away in the evening hours of March 9, 2010 at the age of 27. He was born to Gordon Taylor and Kelly Buck in Portland, OR on May 14, 1982.

Bubba was a construction contractor. He loved fishing, camping and being outdoors. He is survived by his mother Kelly Castillo and stepfather Carlos Lopez of Gladstone, sister Deanna Buck of Boston, MA; brothers Nicholas Castillo of Soldotna, AK and David Castillo of Kihei, HI; daughter Nevaeh Buck and partner Kayla Balkam of Kihei, HI.

A Remembrance Service will be held at 1:30 PM with visitation beginning at 12:45 PM at Clackamette Park in Oregon City, OR. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.

Frank “Pete” R. Peterson

Frank “Pete” Peterson passed away at the age of 64 at his home in Salem, OR. He was the son of Frank and Rosalie Peterson, born August 26, 1945 in Dallas, OR. He graduated from Central High School in Independence, OR where he was an excellent athlete. He was a 2 time state champion at football and basketball and he was voted most friendly in his class of 1963.

After High School, Pete joined the US Army where he served for 3 years, serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He went to work in the plywood industry, working many years for Boise Cascade in Independence. Pete was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and volunteered as a coach for middle school track. He had many, many friends, he loved people and people loved him.

Pete is survived by is spouse of 37 years, Carol; children Michael (Katherine) Montgomery of Salem, Scott (Denise) Montgomery of Terrebone; grandchildren Kayla Montgomery (Jordan Miller), Thomas Montgomery and Matthew Montgomery; brother Roy (Jackie) Peterson of San Diego, CA; sister Frances Weaver of Dallas, OR; mother in law Vera Robinette and sister in law Nancy Halhouli both of Salem. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elsie Kester.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Westgate Assembly of God, 1675 Wallace Road NW, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission of Salem, http://ugmsalem.org/ or Westgate Assembly of God missions, http://westgateag.com/. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Salem.
