Barbara Ann Howard
April 12, 1956 – October 2, 2009

Barbara Ann Howard, 53, passed away in Portland, Oregon on October 2, 2009. Barbara was born in Fort Worth, Texas on April 12, 1956 to Charles Brady and Marion Howard. She was raised in a military family and was lived many places such as Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, England; Mobile, Alabama; Del City, Oklahoma, Barbara moved to Oregon in 1981. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1980 with a master’s in Regional and City Planning and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Barbara married Thomas Michael Kehoe on February 29, 2000 in Portland, Oregon. Barbara worked as a planner as a Regional Planning Council for Clark County, Washington in 1981, she than worked for Nike as a Forecas Analyst form 1982 to 1993, and than a small business owner for Pets in the City from 2005-2009.

Barbara loved the outdoors in any way that fulfilled her love of the Pacific Northwest is way such as hiking, running, and birding. Barbara was involved in organizations such as the Oregon Pet Sitters Association and Oregon Humane Society.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas Michael Kehoe of San Francisco; parents Charles Brady and Marion Howard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Brenda Howard of Portland, Oregon; brothers, Derek Howard of Del City, Oklahoma and Darryl Howard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and companion, Dennis Mitchell of Portland, Oregon.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1o, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the Audubon Society of Portland, 5151 NW Cornell Road, Portland, Oregon.

Bill Macfarlane

Bill Macfarlane was born on August 22nd, 1929 in Gresham, Oregon. He was the second of three children born to William Courtland Macfarlane and Ida Mae Patterson Macfarlane. His family had emigrated from Ayr in Scotland to New Zealand and later part of the family came to the United States. He was always proud of his Scottish heritage and all important family gatherings featured kilts and bagpipes. He lived by his Clan motto, “This I’ll Defend”. Bill died on June 27th, 2009. Burial mass was held, with final interment at Willamette National Cemetery.

Bill served in the 16th Signal BN Corps from 1951 to 1953. He married Sydney Aleson on October 18th, 1958 and with their five children another branch of the Macfarlane Clan was started. He is survived by his wife, Sydney, his daughters, Karen Eckhard, Aleson Macfarlane (Lisa Miosi), and Marci Macfarlane (Chris Radcliffe), his sons, Bill Macfarlane (Stephanie Macfarlane), Michael Macfarlane (Sandra Macfarlane), and his granddaughter Tessa Eckhardt, all of Portland. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law, Jim and Arlene Macfarlane, of Vancouver. He had several nieces and nephews.

During his career, Bill worked for American Can, Griffith Rubber Mills, and Empire Rubber & Supply. He was active in G.E.A.P.S. He was always supportive of his family’s church and school activities. He served as both treasurer and president of St Philip Neri Parents Association and as both secretary and president of St Philip Neri Holy Name Society. He attended all of his children’s ball games and was frequently the only father present at the girl’s games. He participated in fund raising and other activities at his children’s schools, including St Stephens, All Saints, St Mary’s Academy and Jesuit High School.

One of his proudest achievements was his work with the Portland Highland Games. He was president of the PHGA in 1983, 1984 and 1987. He was Chieftain of the Day in 2001 and was honored at the 2009 Games in July.

Some of his long term goals were met following his retirement in 1994. Hammer in hand, he built his own retirement home. He and Sydney traveled the country pursuing the dream of playing golf in every State. He and Sydney also visited Scotland. Recent winters were spent in Winterhaven, California. He was admired and appreciated by his family and will be missed by many.

Robert “Bob” Joseph ConeJuly 8, 1943 - June 25, 2009

Robert “Bob” Joseph Cone, 65, died on June 25, 2009 was a resident of West Linn for 30 years. Bob was born on July 8, 1943, in Santa Ana, California. As a child, his family moved to Vernonia, Oregon where he graduated from Vernonia High School. Bob attended Oregon State University and studied Civil Engineering and belonged to Chi Phi Fraternity. He met Margaret A. Mott in Astoria and the couple married on August 14, 1965. They had two daughters Mary and Jill.

Bob began his career in the Kitchen Cabinet Industry in 1964. He worked for Noble Craft, which later became Diamond Industries in Hillsboro, Oregon before moving his family to Oahu, Hawaii in 1973. Bob started his own business, Total Building Products in Tigard, Oregon in 1979. It soon grew to include warehouses in Kent, Washington and Waipahu, Hawaii. From 1980 to 2004, Bob was on the Executive Committee for the National Kitchen and Bath Association. In 2004, Bob sold his company and he and Margaret retired to West Linn, Oregon and enjoyed wintering in Palm Desert, California.

Bob and Margaret loved to go on motorcycle trips around the United States, and they were fortunate enough to have ridden in every state in the U.S. with Alaska as their only exception. Bob loved to go hunting, fishing and boating, and he was a member of the Portland Yacht Club from 1985 to 1995. Bob was a great OSU Beavers Fan, often traveling to bowl games to support the football team.

Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret Cone; daughters, Mary Cone of West Linn and Jill Cone of Clackamas; mother Peggy Cone of Vernonia; sister Patty Cone of Vernonia; and his faithful dog Joey.

A BBQ celebration of Bob’s life will be held at The McLean House on Saturday July 11th from 12-4pm located at 5350 River St. West Linn. Please send donations in remembrance of Bob Cone to Oregon State University Beaver Athletic Student Fund (BASF, 123 Gill Coliseum, Corvallis, Oregon 97331).

Laura Jean Kost
July 8, 1958 – June 22, 2009

Laura Jean Kost, 50, passed away on June 22, 2009 in Portland, Oregon. Laura was born in Oakland, California on July 8, 1958 to Jerry and Pauline (Stewart) Dusek.

Laura is survived by her husband, Glen Livingston; step children Michael and Kellee Livingston; brother, Steven Dusek; sisters, Carol Robinson and Cindy Holland.

Brandi Michelle Dyer

Dyer, Brandi Michelle (Campoamor), 33, passed away on June 22, 2009 in Portland, Oregon. Brandi was born in Plainview, Texas to Edwardo and Debra Kay (Burt) Campoamor. She was a customer service representative for PGE.

Brandi is survived by her parents, Eddie and Teresa Campoamor, and Debra Kay Burt; and son, Joseph Campoamor.

John Franklin Walker
April 5, 1926 – June 8, 2009

John Franklin Walker, 83, passed away on June 8, 2009 in Portland, Oregon. John was born in Ailica, Oklahoma on April 5, 1926 to George and Frankie (Tucker) Walker.

John was a manager for the Safeway store in SW Portland for 33 years.

John is survived by his wife Wilda Walker; son, John Jr., and sister in law Opal Lewis.

Evelyn D. Weaver

Evelyn D. Weaver, 92, died on July 30, 2009 in Molalla, Oregon. Evelyn was born on November 17, 1916 to Maximilian and Bertha Dorfman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was raised in Philadelphia and in 1941, she married Roland W. Weaver. Roland and Evelyn moved to San Diego while Roland worked for the Mayflower. Evelyn would accompany Roland on many of his trips for work, and she otherwise worked as a homemaker and mother. Roland retired in 1979, and then the couple began traveling around the United States in their motor home. In July of 1982, Roland Weaver passed away. Evelyn moved to Oregon in 1993 to be near her daughter and family. She loved drawing, painting, crocheting, playing BINGO, and traveling.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Tim Weaver and wife Leslie of Kelso, WA; daughters, Arlene Evans and husband Bill of Woodburn, Jan Hall of Camarillo, CA; sisters, Rose Kurtzburg of California, Sally Bicionne of Florida, Pearl Galaida of New Jersey; brother, Abe Dorfman of Florida; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband in 1982; daughters, Rosalinda Lord (’72), Robertalynne Weaver (’54); sister, Dorothy Krupnick; and brothers, Bernard and Sam Dorfman.
