Janet R. Anderson
Janet R. Anderson, of Oregon City, Oregon passed away on Sunday, August 8th, 2010 at the age of 78. Janet was born in Astoria, Oregon to Peter and Lillie (Nutter) Carlson on September 16, 1931. In 1973, Janet wed James John Anderson in Reno, Nevada. She worked as a secretary for many insurance companies over the span of her career, most notably Stewart & Tunno and All-State. She also played a very active role in the lives of her grandchildren as she got older. Janet enjoyed helping out with the SMART program and volunteering her time at Woodland Park Hospital. She was a member of the congregation at Milwaukie Covenant Church.
Janet is survived by her son Leslie Holdiman; daughter Kathy Kahler; brother Donald Carlson; 10 grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James John Anderson, and her son, Daniel Holdiman. A Memorial Service was held at Milwaukie Covenant Church on August 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.
Leonard J. “Buzz” Eide
1938 – 2010
Leonard J. Eide, more commonly known by his lifelong nickname, Buzz, passed away in the morning hours of Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the age of 72.
Buzz was born to Thelma and Jake Eide on April 19, 1938, which just so happens was his sister’s 3rd birthday. He grew up in Portland, OR where he attended St. Rose elementary school and Central Catholic High School. As a youngster, he was an avid roller skater and won the 1948 national boys speed skating championship at the age of 10. As a teenager, he grew to love golf and became a caddy at Colwood Golf Course. In 1956 Buzz joined the US Marine Corps, in which he served honorably for 10 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his service in the Marine Corps, he went to work as a grocery checker, eventually becoming a store director for Albertson's at the Cully neighborhood store. In the early ‘80’s, Buzz started a firewood business that would grow to be one of the largest in the Portland area. His strong work ethic and attention to detail showed in all of his endeavors and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to those most in need.
Buzz leaves behind his wife Bonnie, sister Margaret, son John, daughters Bridget and Amy, 7 grandchildren, niece Holly and nephew Butch. He was preceded in death by his son Leonard Eide, Jr.
Services will be held with full honors at Willamette National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
Harry G. Beerman
Harry G. Beerman, 92, passed away of natural causes on August 4, 2010 in Portland, OR. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beatrice M. Beerman. He is father of Lori V. Chriest in Seattle, WA, H. Garth Beerman (Sally) in Castle Rock, CO, and Kristie L. Martz in Portland, OR, Grandfather to Darren Chriest, Jeff (Shelley) Chriest, Amanda Martz, Zach Beerman, and Kaleb Beerman, and Great-grandfather to Cody and Cassie Chriest and Sonja Furney.
Harry was born on March 22, 1918 to George J. H. Beerman and Edna Anna (Goldfuss) Beerman in Clatskanie, OR. He graduated from Canby Union High School in 1936. In 1941-42, he attended OSC at Corvallis, OR. He worked during WWII as an aircraft mechanic and received his pilot license. Harry piloted airplanes during his career for Morrison Knudsen Co. (Boise, ID), Boeing Aircraft (Seattle, WA), Peter Kiewit & Sons Co.(Omaha, NE), and Rea Magnet Wire Co. (Fort Wayne, IN). After retirement, Harry and Bea moved from Indiana to Salem, OR where they lived for 20 years.
A private service will be held later in August. Memorials to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of choice.
Wing S. Lee
January 29, 1916 – July 27, 2010
Wing Lee was born in Taishan, China on January 29, 1916. In Portland, he was a member of the Suey Sing Association, worked in many different restaurants, and was in the jewelry trade for many years. Wing died of natural causes. He is survived by a son, numerous grandchildren in Hong Kong, and a niece in Portland; Deborah Lee. He was sharp and wise until the end; he will be missed.
Clifford Vernon Vick
Clifford Vernon Vick passed away in Aurora, Oregon on August 4th, 2010. He was 87 years of age. Born August 3rd, 1923 in Mekinock, North Dakota to Ole & Mary Vick, Clifford entered the Navy at age 17 where he served his country during WWII. A machinist by trade, he went on to work on aircraft and race cars for many, many years. He moved to Los Angeles in 1953, and retired to Apache Junction, AZ in 1998, before making his last move to Oregon in 2006. He enjoyed golf, bowling, shooting pool and hunting. His children want him to know that they forgive him for his various attempts at cheating during their many family games of Scrabble.
Clifford is survived by his daughters Julie Waddell of Woodburn, OR and Janet Griffin of Aurora, OR. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Wind and Myrtle Rummel, both of Minnesota. He is further survived by his ex-wife Gloria Vick of San Pedro, CA. A grandfather of two and great-grandfather of eight, Clifford was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Vick, and by his sisters Alice May, Louella and Evelyn.
No services are planned at this time.

Mary Evelyn Callaway
1939-2010
Mary (Evelyn) Callaway, 71, passed away on August 3, 2010. Evelyn was born on February 4, 1939 in Formosa, Arkansas. She was raised in California and in 1987, moved to Oregon. Evelyn enjoyed helping others and worked as a Caregiver at Good Shepherd Homes. She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and on her personal time, she enjoyed crafts, gardening and most of all, her family.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Thomas Golden of Longmont, CO and Kevin Scott of Charleston, SC; daughters, Pam Dämm and Teresa Stuck of Forest Grove, and Jennifer Madison of Cornelius; granddaughter Denise Lancaster of Cornelius; and her biggest joy was her granddaughter Mellissa Lea.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 8th at 2:00 pm at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Forest Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Douglas McKinley Hewitt
December 29, 1952 - August, 1, 2009

Moved to Oregon from: Chino, California in 1973
Fiancee: Catherine Koenig
Hobbies/Activities: U.S. History, especially the Civil War period, cooking, music and genealogy.
Church/Organizations/Clubs: A long-time attendee of David’s Harp in Portland where he gained great support and friendship from friends and staff. He was at one time awarded a “Certificate of Appreciation For Recognition Of His Valuable Contributions”. He recently began attending the program LifeWorks in Gresham where he continued gaining deep friendships among both staff and other participants in the program.
He also attended the Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he planned on marrying the love of his life, Catherine. The warmth of the congregation’s fellowship and Minister brought Doug much peace and comfort as well as reading the Bible before going to sleep each night.
Survived by three sisters and two brothers.
Service type: Cremation. Ashes will be scattered along with his mother’s ashes in the beautiful Great Northwest which they both dearly loved. Memorial Contributions: Gifts can be made either monetarily or in the form of volunteering or advocacy to the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI).
