Michael Ross Skillman
A celebration of the life of Michael Ross Skillman will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland. The Rev. William Kirkman will officiate. A reception will follow at 1:30 in Calvin Hall at the First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Skillman, 43, formerly of Ashland, died Friday (April 6, 2001) at Queen Anne Healthcare in Seattle.

He was born Jan. 9, 1958, in San Jose, Calif. He attended grade school in Wimer and Ashland, and was active in Future Business Leaders of America at Ashland High School. He graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls.
Mr. Skillman worked as a master mechanic in the Seattle area.
He was an avid motorcycle rider and competed in numerous races. He also enjoyed boating and snowmobiling.
Survivors include his father, Don Skillman, Ashland; his mother Lolly Skillman, Apache Junction, Ariz.; and a sister, Cindy Skillman, Grass Valley, Calif.
Jennie C. Deckman
Jennie C. Deckman, 100, of Ashland, died Monday (April 9, 2001) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, Medford. The funeral was held Tuesday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Chapel, Ashland. The Rev. Michael Powell, of the First United Methodist Church in Ashland, officiated. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, New Jersey.
She was born April 18, 1900, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Daniel and Jennie Buckley. She was raised and graduated from high school in Woodlynne, N.J., and attended business college.
On Aug. 16, 1922, she married George Deckman, who died in 1961. They lived in Trenton, N.J. from 1922 to 1961.
Mrs. Deckman was a legal secretary.
In Trenton, N.J., she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, the Girl Scouts of America and numerous youth activities. She moved to Ashland in 1970 and became involved in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Tudor Guild, the Ashland Garden Club and the Ashland First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Gary Tyran, Pleasant Hill, Calif., Cindy Tyran, Orangeville, Calif., and Craig Tyran, Corvallis; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Tyran.

Violet Wilson Reeder
Violet Wilson Reeder, 70, of Shady Cove, formerly of Happy Camp, Calif., died Sunday (April 8, 2001) in Central Point. A private service is planned.

She was born July 14, 1930, in Portola, Calif., a daughter of Charles and Abby (Durham) Lawson. On June 2, 1944, she married Wayne Wilson, who died in 1998. She lived in Happy Camp, Calif., from 1963 to 1998, when she moved to the Rogue Valley.
Mrs. Reeder enjoyed crocheting, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth D. Wilson, Medford, and DeWayne L. Wilson, Olympia, Wash.; a daughter, Charlotte M. Grieve, Trail; a brother, Wesley Lawson, Happy Camp, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Williams, Jackson, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Bob and Charles Lawson; and a sister, Marie.

Beulah Irene Bishop
Beulah Irene Bishop, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (April 7, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service was held.

She was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Roscoe, S.D., a daughter of Joseph and Inda Huck. On Sept. 4, 1934, in Ipswich, S.D., she married Leone Bishop, who died in 1980. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from Renton, Wash.
Mrs. Bishop was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford.
She enjoyed jokes, quilting and square dancing.
Survivors include a son, Roger, Medford; a daughter, Loris Hanks, Medford; a sister, Hazel Goodspeed, Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Reed.

Garrel Marilyn Millard
The memorial service for Garrel Marilyn Millard will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Butte Creek Baptist Church in Eagle Point. Pastor Ed Graham will officiate. Interment will be in Brownsboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Millard, 89, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (April 8, 2001) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

She was born April 6, 1912, in Kerby. On July 17, 1933, in Medford, she married Arlin Millard, who died in 1996. A native Oregonian, she lived in the Rogue Valley most of her life.
Mrs. Millard was a devout Christian.
She enjoyed oil painting.
Survivors include eight sons, John, Wayne, Larry and Steve, all Eagle Point, Kenny, Phoenix, Dick, Shady Cove, Wes, Talent, and Gary, Central Point; five daughters, Marilyn Bandfield, Eagle Point, Bonnie Nutter, White City, Hazel Siebrecht, Medford, Nancy Lilly, Grants Pass, and Ruth Woolley, Shady Cove; five sisters, Opal Monia, White City, Clarabel Storm, Central Point, Ruby Pruett and Eunice Richardson, both Medford, and Rose Young, Talent; two brothers, Lincoln and Clint Charley, both Central Point; 41 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David; and two brothers, Boyd and Wes.

Enid Rhea ‘Nicky’ Brown
Enid Rhea "Nicky" Brown, 59, of Merlin, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at Three Rivers Hospital, Dimmick Campus. No service is planned.

She was born May 4, 1941, in Los Angeles. She graduated from Moorpark High School in Moorpark, Calif., in 1959. She received her beautician’s license from Oxnard Beauty College. On Sept. 24, 1960, in Camarillo, Calif., she married Larry Brown, who survives. They moved to Medford in 1977, where they lived for 14 years before moving to Merlin.
Mrs. Brown was a dietary aide at Rogue Valley Medical Center for 10 years. She also worked for Hearthstone in Medford for 11 years.
She enjoyed skiing at Mount Bachelor, wildlife, knitting and reading.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Shelly Butler, Medford, and Carol Arnold, Grants Pass; a son, Ronald, Medford; a brother, Kenneth Kover, San Diego; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Charlotte Kover.

Ada Elizabeth Mayfield
The funeral service for Ada Elizabeth Mayfield will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel. Pastor W.D. Turnbull, who is retired from Calvary Assembly of God, will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Mayfield, 84, of Medford, died Saturday (April 7, 2001) in Medford.
She was born May 26, 1916, in Cleveland, the daughter of John and Carrie (Burckholter) Patterson. On Sept. 10, 1939, in Colorado Springs, Colo., she married George Mayfield, who died in 1989. They moved to Jacksonville from Carlsbad, Calif., in 1945.
Mrs. Mayfield was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Jacksonville and was president of the Women’s Missionary Council for many years.
Mrs. Mayfield enjoyed music, gardening, reading and mission work.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn L. Moore, Medford; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.

Grizelda ‘Kay’ Vandewall
Grizelda "Kay" Vandewall, 86, of Medford, died Thursday (April 5, 2001) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Grizelda Ferguson on Dec. 25, 1914, in Rosslind, British Columbia, Canada. In 1931, she married Jack Moon, who died in 1971. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1945 from Burbank, Calif. In 1975, in Eagle Point, she married George L. Vandewall, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vandewall was a cook at the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary, retiring in 1977.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and socializing.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Moon, Las Vegas; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Moon.
