Else M. Grossman

The memorial service for Else M. Grossman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ashland Christian Fellowship. Pastor Steve Bright will officiate. Private interment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mrs. Grossman, 88, of Ashland, died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland.

She was born Else Grunewald on March 3, 1913, in Berlin, Germany. On March 2, 1935, in Berlin, she married Henry Grossman, who died in 1980. They moved to the United States in 1958, four years after their daughters had arrived, and bought a home in Ashland.

Mrs. Grossman enjoyed growing roses, baking and swimming and was active in church activities.

Survivors include two daughters, Hilde Kent, Ashland and Lotte Coggins, Sheridan; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Harold O. Parsons

A celebration of the life of Harold O. Parsons will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Escalon United Methodist Church in Escalon, Calif. The Rev. Dick Shrader of Hughson United Methodist Church and the Rev. John Broad of Escalon United Methodist Church will officiate.

Mr. Parsons, 64, of Gold Hill, died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501, or the Gold Hill United Methodist Church, 416 Fourth St., Gold Hill, OR 97525.

He was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Stockton, Calif., a son of Horace O. and Iola H. Parsons. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.

On Sept. 14, 1996, in Escalon, Calif., he married Jeanette Turner, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley four years ago from Escalon, Calif.

Mr. Parsons was a real estate appraiser for the California Division of Highways and had a real estate broker’s license. He started Parsons Ag Minerals in the Modesto/Escalon area 29 years ago.

He attended the Gold Hill United Methodist Church and was a member of the Escalon United Methodist Church in California.

Mr. Parsons enjoyed Dixieland jazz and old Oldsmobiles.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Barbara Massey, Jacksonville, Karen Lundholm, Monterey, Calif.; two sons, Howard and Hugh, both Phoenix; a stepson, Mark James, Central Point; two stepdaughters, Michael James, Citrus Heights, Calif., and Michele Faning, Modesto, Calif.; his mother, Iola H. Parsons, Escalon, Calif.; two brothers, Henry, Orcas, Wash., and Herb, Yosemite National Park, Calif.; three sisters, Nancy Galloway, and Mary Panero, both Escalon, Calif., and Susan Weaver, Alexandria, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Edna Mae Miller

The graveside service for Edna Mae Miller will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Miller, 86, of Central Point, died Friday (March 9, 2001) at Hearthstone.

She was born Dec. 8, 1914, in Wirth, Ark., a daughter of Tom Lewis and Gertrude Wilmoth Risner.

On Jan. 13, 1934, in Lone Grove, Okla., she married T. Donald Miller, who died in 1986. They moved to the Rogue Valley from Southern California in 1947.

Mrs. Miller worked as a sales clerk for the Grange Co-op in Central Point and the Monarch Store in Medford.

She was a charter member of the Central Point Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Miller enjoyed playing games, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include a son, Tom, Central Point; two daughters, Donna Higginbotham, Central Point, and Ruth Lisac, Mount Shasta, Calif.; three sisters, Ruth Young, Durant, Okla., Margaret Rasmussen, Tumwater, Wash., and Fannie Elmore, Lawton, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Lawrence and Olen; and two sisters, Jewel Jones and Faye Richards.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Road, Medford.

Ben L. Conley

The memorial service for Ben L. Conley will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday (March 14, 2001) at the interment shelter at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point. Chaplain Wayne Bell of the Veteran’s Affairs Domiciliary in White City will officiate.

Mr. Conley, 73, died Thursday at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 1211, Eagle Point, OR 97524.

He was born May 7, 1927, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, a son of Lewis and Mina Conley.

On June 7, 1952, in Reno, Nev., he married Audrey Monroe, who survives.

He attended Jacksonville schools and sold mobile homes.

Mr. Conley served in the U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II and the wars in Korea and Vietnam, and later became a vice president of the Merchant Marine veterans’ group.

He enjoyed piloting small planes, mushroom hunting, gardening and repairing things.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kathryn Huddleston, of Medford; a son, Gary Conley, of Medford; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Conley.

Sally Marie Grissom

The funeral for Sally Marie Grissom will be held at River Valley Fellowship, 4922 Crater Lake Ave., 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Sam Pacheco will officiate. Interment will be at IOOF Cemetery, Central Point.

Miss Grissom, 50, of Medford, died Friday (March 9, 2001) in Medford.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Association of Oregon, c/o Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Feb. 12, 1951, to Everett and Adalene Grissom, and lived in the Rogue Valley her whole life.

Miss Grissom worked as a live-in caregiver in private homes. She enjoyed visiting the coast, reading her Bible, cooking, and was active in her church.

Survivors include her father, Everett, Gresham; three sisters, Nina Skinner and Jo Carol Robinson, both Central Point, and Dorie Smith, Medford; four brothers, Donald, Prospect, Wayne, Tualatin, David, Banks, and Harvey, Red Bluff, Calif. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Conger-Morris.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.

Marion Bradley Post

The memorial service for Marion Bradley Post will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National Cemetery Interment Shelter. The Rev. Scott Delgarno of the First Presbyterian Church, Ashland, will officiate.

Mr. Post, 77, of Medford, died Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504, or the American Diabetes Association, 380 S.E. Spokane, Suite 110, Portland, OR 97202.

He was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Sheridan, Wyo., the son of William and May Post. On Oct. 4, 1945, in Sheridan, Wyo., he married Jean Elizabeth Corley, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from San Diego.

Mr. Post worked in the Federal Civil Service until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Post enjoyed fishing, golf, leather crafts and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Jean E. "Betty" Post, Medford.

Audine Tumey

Audine Tumey, 80, of Medford, died Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

She was born July 9, 1920, in Oklahoma. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948.

Ms. Tumey was a member of Parents Without Partners.

She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Hendrix, Wanda Tumey and Terry Davis, all Medford; a son, John, West Point, Calif.; two brothers, Carl and Buddy, both in California; five sisters, Juanita, Myrtle, Ruth, Dorothy and Carol, all in California; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Donnell; and a brother, Bill.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
