Leona Barnhouse

Leona Williams Barnhouse, 69, of Houston, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) in Houston. A private memorial service will be held. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Leona Sweet on Feb. 24, 1932, in Centralia, Wash. She lived in Medford from 1952-1975. In 1975, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, she married Cecil Barnhouse, who died in 1978.

Mrs. Barnhouse was a homemaker.

She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953.

Survivors include seven sons, Tim Williams, Denver, Jim Williams, Redmond, Jerry Williams, Salem, Larry Williams, Central Point, Monte Williams, John Williams, Medford, and Troy Williams, Seattle.; two daughters, Theresa Norton, Red Bluff, Calif., and Cynthia Jenkins, Houston; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Williams; two brothers; and a sister.

Arrangements: Miller Funeral Home, Houston, Texas.

Louise Sybil Ford

Louise Sybil Ford, 86, of Butte Falls, died Saturday (Feb. 24, 2001) at her home. The memorial service will be held later.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Ukiah, Calif.

Mrs. Ford was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and canning. She moved to the Rogue Valley nine years ago from Napa, Calif.

She was a member of the 4-H and the Rebekahs.

Mrs. Ford enjoyed doll-making and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Mike Stritenberg, Butte Falls; a daughter, Christine Williams, Napa, Calif.; two brothers, George Kruse, San Leandro, Calif., and Bill Kruse, Sonora, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters; and a son.

Lester Noel Robbins Sr.

Lester Noel Robbins Sr., 73, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 26, 2001) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born March 19, 1927, in Midland, Ark. In August 1955, in Santa Barbara, Calif., he married Mary Anderson, who survives. They lived in Santa Maria, Calif., from 1963 to 1987, when they moved to the Rogue Valley.

Mr. Robbins was a member of the Santa Maria Country Club.

He enjoyed golf, fishing and gambling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five sons, Mark Farrell, Medford, Thomas Michael, Sams Valley, Lester Noel Jr., Canyon Country, Calif., Donny Roy, Northridge, Calif., and Bruce Lee, Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Tonya Lynn Robbins, Central Point; a brother, James Farrell Sr., Central Point; a sister, Wilma Annis, Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Othel Lee.

Ralph E. Hulse

Ralph E. Hulse, 75, of Thermopolis, Wyo., formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Saturday (Feb. 24, 2001) at his sister’s home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Interment will be in the family plot at Monument Hill Cemetery, Thermopolis, Wyo.

He was born in Jonesboro, Tenn. He graduated from Medford Senior High School and attended what is now Southern Oregon University. He married Helen Grafton. They later divorced.

Mr. Hulse worked at Montgomery Wards, and became a lounge manager for Valentine’s, Mark Antony, Wooden Shoe and The Red Lion Inn. He moved to Thermopolis in 1991 to manage a family-owned mobile park.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include two brothers, Vernon and Harold, both Medford; and a sister, Lucille Fonnesbeck, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Arrangements will be handled by a funeral home in Thermopolis, Wyo.

Helmuth ‘Jim’ Seydlitz

Helmuth "Jim" Seydlitz, 99, of Grants Pass, died Monday (Feb. 26, 2001) at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass. A private service was held at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

He was born Jan. 17, 1902, in Hamburg, Germany. His family came to the United States in 1906, and moved to the Los Angeles area.

On June 23, 1927, in Reno, Nev., he married the former Adeline Sunna, who died in 1995. They moved to Grants Pass in 1969 from Newport Beach, Calif.

Mr. Seydlitz was a self-employed lumber broker until his retirement.

He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 15, telling them he was 19. He was the oldest World War I veteran in Oregon.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley, Grants Pass.

Annette Dale

The funeral service for Annette Dale will be at 10 a.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Don Baker of Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mrs. Dale, 95, of Ashland, died Friday (Feb. 23, 2001) at a Medford foster home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born March 14, 1905, in Kiev, Russia. Her family moved to Hawaii when she was 10. On Oct. 18, 1924, in Honolulu, she married Michael Dale, who died in 1977. They moved to Ashland in 1952, where she lived until moving into a Medford foster home in 1996.

Mrs. Dale enjoyed sewing and shared many friendships through senior citizen activities.

Survivors include her son, Michael B., Kaneohe, Hawaii; a brother, Walter Enberg, Honolulu; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Clara Mae McCarley

The memorial service for Clara Mae McCarley will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Applegate Christian Fellowship in Ruch. Pastor Web Staunton will officiate.

Mrs. McCarley, 51, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 26, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born May 18, 1949, in Eureka, Calif.

Mrs. McCarley was a housekeeper in the commercial cleaning business. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1980 from Fontana, Calif.

She enjoyed fishing, movies, oldies music and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Elbert Wilborn, Medford; three daughters, Diana Dunlap, Medford, Ella Wilborn, Forest Grove, and Christina Wilborn, Tigard; her father, Alfred Dunlap, Eureka, Calif.; three brothers, Edward Moore, Shasta, Calif., Lester Dunlap, Redding, Calif., and Don Moore, Benjamine, Minn.; two sisters, Rosemary Williams, Tigard, and Phyllis Early, Seattle; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother; and a brother.

Beverly Elaine Johnson

Beverly Elaine Johnson, 56, of Central Point, died Friday (Feb. 23, 2001) at her home. A private service was held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born April 7, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas, a daughter of Tom and Vera Haggard. On Aug. 23, 1962, in Crescent City, Calif., she married Ernest Johnson, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Modesto, Calif.

Mrs. Johnson enjoyed helping people.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Vince, Modesto, Calif.; two daughters, Paige Armentrout and Stacie Leandro, both Central Point; a sister, Margie Johnson, Sams Valley; and five grandchildren.
