Michelle Angelique Patrick

The funeral for Michelle Angelique Patrick will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Ms. Patrick, 20, of Phoenix, died Thursday (Jan. 18, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, of cystic fibrosis.

Memorial contributions may be made to The National Office of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 5331 S.W. Macadam, Suite 265, Portland, OR 97201.

She was born April 21, 1980, in Roseville, Calif., the daughter of Judy (Gier) Ridner and Ken Patrick. She lived in the Rose-ville/Sacramento area for eight years, in the Reno/Tahoe area for three years, and in the Eureka/McKinleyville area for three years. She moved with her mother to Phoenix in 1997 and graduated from Phoenix High School in 2000.

Ms. Patrick worked as a volunteer with the kindergarten class at Phoenix Elementary School.

She enjoyed crafts, writing poetry and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her mother, Judy Ridner, Phoenix; two brothers, Brian Patrick, U.S. Army, Germany, and Darren Morgan, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; and her grandmother, Nancy Gier, Hearthstone, Medford. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bill Gier.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Dessie T. Noland

The memorial service for Dessie T. Noland will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.

Mrs. Noland, 91, of Medford, died Jan. 9, 2001, at her home.

She was born June 6, 1909, in Walla Walla, Wash., the daughter of Fred and Carrie (Purcell) Tighe. On April 7, 1935, in Walla Walla, she married Ray Noland, who died in 1999. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986 from Carmel, Calif.

Mrs. Noland was a homemaker.

She enjoyed music and playing the organ, especially at Rogue Valley Manor.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen J., North Hills, Calif., and William R., Park City, Utah; and two grandchildren.

James Lester Madden

James Lester Madden, 52, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. The service has been held. Interment was in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born March 5, 1948, in Grants Pass and lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.

Mrs. Madden enjoyed fishing, hot chili and being a grandparent.

Survivors include a son, Bill; two daughters, Wendy Madden, Portland, and Sharon Reeder, Marysville, Calif.; his father, Charles, White City; three sisters, Christine Moore, Central Point, Debe Madden, Tualatin, and Cheri Lewis, in Canada; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evafaye Madden.

Nelda Arlene Heath

Nelda Arlene Heath, 79, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 21, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Medford, a daughter of Oval and Yada McClanahan. On Oct. 23, 1939, in Reno, Nev., she married Roy Heath, who survives. She was a lifetime resident of the Rogue Valley.

Mrs. Heath was a member and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary Club and a former member of the Lady Elks.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed boating, dancing, swimming and yard work.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Jim, Eugene; three brothers, Richard McClanahan, Phoenix, Stanley Dale McClanahan, Central Point, and Floyd McClanahan, Butte Falls; three sisters, Kay Mulhollen, Medford, Sandra Workman, Phoenix, and Anne Haggard, Brackettville, Texas; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nadene Ellis; and a brother, Lloyd McClanahan.

Margaret Kirstin Hansen

The memorial service for Margaret Kirstin Hansen will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jackson House, 300 Suncrest Road, Talent.

Mrs. Hansen, 91, of Talent, died Monday (Jan. 22, 2001) at Ashland Community Hospital.

She was born July 28, 1909, in Berkeley, Calif., the daughter of John and Katherine Holst. On Jan. 20, 1934, in San Francisco, she married Martin Hansen, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hansen was a salesperson in the retail industry. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Cottage Grove.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Righter, Ashland, and Kathleen Hoffman, Cottage Grove; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Augusta H. Kershaw

The funeral service for Augusta H. Kershaw will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Medford. Pastor Joyce DeGraaff will officiate.

Mrs. Kershaw, 97, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at Farmington Square.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 85 S. Holly St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born April 23, 1903, in McGregor, Iowa, a daughter of George and Alma (Brown) Heilman. She received a degree in education from the University of Iowa in 1925. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1927 from Iowa, making the trip alone, by train. On July 28, 1928, in Bremerton, Wash., she married Gordon Kershaw, who died in 1979.

Mrs. Kershaw was a first-grade teacher at the old Lincoln Grade School in Medford for three years. She also assisted in the family pear orchard business.

She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rheems Chapter, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Medford.

Mrs. Kershaw enjoyed gardening and square dancing, which she taught as well.

Survivors include a son, Pete, Sisters; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Betty K. Carlos

The graveside service for Betty K. Carlos will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. The Rev. V. Lee Gregory of the Medford Neighborhood Church will officiate.

Mrs. Carlos, 80, of Central Point, died Friday (Jan. 19, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Tulare, Calif., the daughter of Thomas and Ella Sullivan. On Feb. 15, 1943, in Reno, Nev., she married Joseph Francis Carlos, who died in 2000. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1945 from Chico, Calif.

Mrs. Carlos worked for Montgomery Ward in Medford, and later for Bear Creek Corp. as a sorter and line worker, retiring in 1983.

She attended the Catholic church.

Mrs. Carlos enjoyed bingo, playing cards and raising her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Sellars, Central Point, and Joann Fagan, Medford; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wilcox; and a grandson.

Morris W. Fraser

Morris W. Fraser, 87, of Talent, died Sunday (Jan. 21, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

He was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Kearney, Neb. On Oct. 28, 1960, in Las Vegas, he married Dorothy, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Fraser owned and operated a meat-cutting business. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959 from California.

He was a member of the Star Foundation.

Mr. Fraser enjoyed traveling and reading.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon, Las Vegas; a son, Wayne, Fresno, Calif.; and a sister, Lucille Hazelbaker, Central Point. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
