Ruanna J. Harrison

The graveside service for Ruanna J. Harrison will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodville Cemetery in Rogue River. Pastor Mike Fieguth of Evans Valley Bible Church will officiate.

Mrs. Harrison, 82, of Rogue River, died Sunday (Dec. 24, 2000) at her home.

She was born Ruanna Josephine Harris on March 30, 1918, in Vida. On June 20, 1935, in Grass Valley, Calif., she married Wilbur Earl Harrison, who died in 1999. They lived in Redding, Calif., until 1963, when they moved to Rogue River.

Mrs. Harrison was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Evans Valley Garden Club.

Mrs. Harrison was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed trips to the coast.

Survivors include four sons, David, Rogue River, Wesley, Grants Pass, Duane, Glendale, and Steven J., Redding, Calif.; a brother, Del Harris, Grass Valley, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Al L. Claibourn

The graveside service for Al L. Claibourn will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Mr. Claibourn, 80, of Medford, died Saturday (Dec. 24, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born July 27, 1920, in New Albany, Kan. On Sept. 7, 1968, in Grants Pass, he married Doris O. Thompson, who survives.

Mr. Claibourn was an airplane mechanic at Boeing in Seattle. He was also a farmer in Washington. He moved to the Rogue Valley 34 years ago from Washington.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II as a crew chief in France, England and Belgium.

Mr. Claibourn enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and mechanic work.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Thomas, Entiat, Wash.; a daughter, Kendra C’atty, in the San Francisco Bay area in California; a stepson, Larry DeMontegre, Charlotte, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Celeste Zimmerman, Jacksonville, Cindy Freeman, Medford, and Shuree McKinney, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Email "Bud, " Renton, Wash.; three sisters, Edna Reid, Edmonds, Wash., Esther Miller, Santa Maria, Calif., and Erma Manley, Northridge, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin; and a sister, Evelyn Bott.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Carolyne Leslie Johnson

Carolyne Leslie Johnson, 85, of Grants Pass, died Friday (Dec. 22, 2000) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Washington Campus. Private cremation services were held at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

She was born July 4, 1915, in San Francisco, the daughter of John and Josephine Blanton. She married Albert Johnson, who died in 1995.

Mrs. Johnson worked as a civilian employee for the U.S. Army for several years in Santa Rosa, Calif. She moved to Grants Pass in 1995 from Crescent City, Calif.

Survivors include a daughter, Wynona Moore, Grants Pass.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley, Grants Pass.

Ruby Georgia Jorgensen

The memorial service for Ruby Georgia Bartlett Jorgensen will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Glen Chinn will officiate. Private interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Merlin.

Mrs. Jorgensen, 90, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Dec. 24, 2000) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Washington Campus.

She was born June 7, 1910, in Devils Creek, Mich., the oldest child of Horace and Pearl Bartlett. On July 11, 1936, in Anoka, Minn., she married Joseph "Joe" Jorgensen, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1944.

Mrs. Jorgensen was a bookkeeper for Parkview Nursing Home, now Oak Lane, for several years.

She was a member of the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Jorgensen enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, LaVella Jorgensen, Grants Pass; a sister, Patricia Crowell, Portland; and two granddaughters.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley, Grants Pass.

William E. Turner

William E. Turner, 74, of Medford, died Monday (Dec. 25, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No local service is planned.

He was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Los Angeles. On June 16, 1994, at Lake Tahoe, Nev., he married Patricia Rose, who survives.

Mr. Turner worked for Pacific Bell, retiring in 1984. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Redondo Beach, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Turner enjoyed snow skiing, fishing and sailing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Sheila Nasch, Pacific Palisades, Calif.; a son, Tom, Santa Monica, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Arda Ruth Turner

The memorial service for Arda Ruth Turner will be at 2 p.m. today at Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass. Pastor Brett Strobel will officiate.

Mrs. Turner, 94, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Dec. 23, 2000) at Royal Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Newman United Methodist Church, 132 N.E. B St., Grants Pass, OR 97526.

She was born Arda Isham on June 12, 1906, in Cottage Grove, the youngest of three children of J.M. Isham, who was a Southern Pacific agent in Grants Pass for 40 years. She came to Grants Pass in 1909 and lived there all her life. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1924, and was one of the oldest living alumni. In 1926, she married Ray O. Turner, who died in 1985.

Mrs. Turner worked at Chet’s Pet and Garden Center for a short period of time when it was owned by Chet Tompkins.

She was active in community affairs and held many positions. She was a 90-year member of Newman Church, and a 50-year member of the Zuleima Temple White Rose Nile and Eastern Star. She was also a 50-year member of the Community Concert Association and past chairwoman of the Tuberculosis Association when it was active in Grants Pass. She was PTA president at her children’s schools, and volunteered for many school events.

Mrs. Turner was an avid gardener. She enjoyed being involved in her family’s activities and growing roses.

Survivors include four daughters, Pat Wills, Mary Knight and Joyce Loomis, all Grants Pass, and Sallie Parrnelli, Central Point; a son, John, Gainesville, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Edwin C. Nolte

Edwin C. Nolte, 90, of Ashland, died Sunday (Dec. 24, 2000) at his home in Mountain View Retirement Residence, Ashland. No public service is planned.

He was born March 20, 1910, in Dazey, N.D. On Sept. 16, 1932, in Nampa, Idaho, he married Virginia Jane Smith, who died in 1995. They moved to Roseburg in 1944.

Mr. Nolte was a manager for Montgomery Wards for more than 40 years in Missouri, California, Idaho, Washington and Oregon, including more than 20 years in Roseburg.

He was active with the Roseburg Chamber of Commerce, was exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge and president of the Roseburg Country Club.

Survivors include three sons, Paul, Ashland, Ed, Culver, and Ray, Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Fern Nolte Davidson; three brothers, John, Glen and Paul; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

Arrangements: Taylor’s Family Mortuary, Winston.
