Charles C. Venard

The graveside service for Charles C. Venard will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Bill Kezer of Living Waters Foursquare Church in Medford will officiate.

Mr. Venard 77, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Dec. 12, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, P.O. Box 348, Warrenton, MO 63383-0348, or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

He was born June 26, 1923, in St. Joseph, Mo., a son of Chester L. and Lillie A. Venard. On Nov. 27, 1953, in St. Joseph, Mo., he married Elizabeth Agenstein, who survives.

Mr. Venard was an instrumentation engineer at various aircraft plants in Columbus, Ohio, Palmdale, Boron and Sunnyvale, Calif. He moved to Central Point in 1980 from Lancaster, Calif.

During World War II, he was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps. During the Korean War, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Venard was a member of Valley Bible Church in Lancaster Calif., the National Rifle Association, and American Legion, Post 15, in Medford.

He enjoyed hunting, traveling and camping, boating and NASCAR.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Adele Marie Williams, Central Point; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tracy Lynn.

Joseph Mark Marich

The graveside service for Joseph Mark Marich will be at noon Thursday at Auburn District Cemetery in Auburn, Calif.

Mr. Marich, 85, of Rogue River, died Friday (Dec. 8, 2000) at home while celebrating his birthday with his family.

He was born Dec. 8, 1915, in Chicago.

Mr. Marich worked most of his life in California. He moved to Rogue River from Auburn, Calif., following his retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Van Dusen, Astoria; two sons, Joe II, Puyallup, Wash., and Jim, Auburn, Calif.; and his companion, Thelma Johnson, Rogue River.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Homer E. Pursel

The funeral for Homer E. Pursel will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Perl Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Pursel, 88, of Talent, died Saturday (Dec. 9, 2000) at Hearthstone.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

He was born Dec. 10, 1911, in Kansas City, Mo., a son of Earl and Laura (Eddy) Pursel. On June 14, 1941, in Glendale, Calif., he married Mary E. Rich, who survives.

Mr. Pursel was a purchasing agent for Lockheed Aircraft for 35 years, retiring in 1973. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1974 from San Jose, Calif.

Earlier in life, he was an active Shriner and Mason.

Mr. Pursel enjoyed woodworking, fishing and participating in sports, especially bowling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, James, Talent, and Richard, Redding, Calif.; and a brother, Horace, Bakersfield, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis.

Helen S. Morgan

The memorial service for Helen S. Morgan will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Lewis Schneider will officiate.

Mrs. Morgan, 96, of Sutherlin, formerly of Medford, died Dec. 4, 2000, at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 2400 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR 97470, or the Zion Lutheran Church Stained Glass Window Fund, 516 W. Fourth St., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born July 30, 1904, in Medford, the daughter of Ewald and Mathilda (Pech) Schulz. She attended Medford High School.

Mrs. Morgan owned and operated a restaurant in Medford during World War II.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Medford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1833, the Medford American Legion, and the Redman-Pocahontas Lodge.

Mrs. Morgan enjoyed travel, fishing, camping and church activities.

Survivors include a son, Donald Blunkall, Medford; two daughters, Joan Osborne, Winchester, and Carol Messmer, Umpqua; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Morgan.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Leo Nathan Province

The funeral for Leo Nathan Province will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, in Orland, Calif.

Mr. Province, 71, of Phoenix, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000) at his home.

He was born July 1, 1929, on the family ranch at Ordbend, Calif., a son of Oscar W. And LaGrace A. (Martin) Province. He graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Calif.

Mr. Province was a rancher and farmer.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Province was a baseball fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking.

Survivors include three brothers, Oscar J., Phoenix, Wayne F., Lockford, Calif., and Leonard A., Fresno, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Fern Grube, on Oct. 6, 2000.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

William Keith Jackson

The graveside service for William Keith Jackson will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa, Ariz.

Mr. Jackson, 86, of Ashland, died Sunday (Dec. 10, 2000) at Linda Vista Care Center.

He was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Butler County, Kan., a son of William and Mary Jane (Bowman) Jackson. He was a 1936 graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

On June 11, 1939, in Olathe, Kan., he married Ada Ireland, who died in 1994. He moved to Ashland two years ago from Arizona.

Mr. Jackson was an avid golfer.

Survivors include a son, William, Ashland; two daughters, Barbara Jackson, Portland, and Bonnie Harris, Columbia, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary; and a brother, Hobart.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Violet Clark-Humphries

Violet Elizabeth Clark-Humphries, 78, of Cave Junction, died Thursday (Dec. 7, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Merlin, the daughter of Albert and Mary Tavis.

Mrs. Clark-Humphries was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Humphries, White City.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Elizabeth Rosa Albert

Elizabeth Rosa Albert, 77, of Butte Falls, died Sunday (Dec. 10, 2000) at her home. The memorial service will be held later.

She was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Medford, a daughter of Glen Albert and Essie Mae (Whaley) Poole. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.

Ms. Albert enjoyed cooking, baking and reading.

Survivors include three sons, Leon and Errol Todd, both Butte Falls, and Van Todd; two brothers, Glenn Albert and Francis Poole, both Medford; two sisters, Priscilla Hedgpeth, Baker City, and Norma Goertzen, Manitoba, Canada.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
