Harvey James Gibson

The memorial service for Harvey James Gibson will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rogue Valley Christian Church. Pastor Don Calvert of New Beginnings Christian Church will officiate.

Mr. Gibson, 78, of Central Point, died Friday (April 14, 2000) at his home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Hardesty, Okla.

Mr. Gibson was a carpenter in residential construction. He spent most of his life in Auburn, Calif., before moving to Klamath Falls. He moved to Central Point three years ago from Klamath Falls.

During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps.

Mr. Gibson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles in Medford.

He made musical steel guitars, and enjoyed music and building things.

Survivors include a daughter, Lavetta Jane Murray, Medford; a brother, Jack, Loomis, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Gelso, in Florida; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and one sister.

Paul H. Wallwork

Paul H. Wallwork, 82, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Medford, died March 28, 2000, in Vancouver, Wash. A private service was held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, 2410 Broadway, Suite E, Vancouver, WA 98663.

He was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Portland. He graduated from Grant High School in Portland, and attended the University of Oregon at Eugene.

Mr. Wallwork was an architect. In 1974, he was hired as Jackson County's first building official and architect, retiring in 1990.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a first lieutenant. He was awarded the distinguished flying cross for flights over France and Germany.

Mr. Wallwork was a member of the American Institute of Architects.

He enjoyed golf and cross-country skiing.

Survivors include his companion, Mary Lou Mansfield, Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Medford; a son, P.K., Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter, Victoria Bage, Whidbey Island, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements: Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, Wash.

Denise A. McDonough

The memorial service for Denise Arlene McDonough will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. Pastor Marty Dorfner of Lake Shastina Community Bible Church will officiate. An open house will follow from 3 to 7 p.m. at 162 N. Front St., Central Point.

Ms. McDonough, 44, of Central Point, died Friday (April 14, 2000) in Medford.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1955, in Forks, Wash., a daughter of Ronald Oliver and Joan Arlene (Herd) Baarstad.

Ms. McDonough graduated from Harbor High School in Brookings. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Brookings in 1974, when she enrolled at what is now Southern Oregon University in Ashland.

On April 24, 1977, in Central Point, she married John C. McDonough. They later divorced. She was engaged to Jerry D. Green at the time of her death.

Ms. McDonough was a trucking dispatcher for L & S Trucking in Central Point.

She enjoyed riding motorcycles, cooking, homemaking and spending time with her children.

Survivors include two sons, Shane Wesley McDonough and Shandy Jacob McDonough, both Central Point; a daughter, Molly Jean Buell, Central Point; her mother and stepfather, Joan and Charles Layton, Lake Shastina, Calif.; three brothers, Randall Wade Layton, Scott Robert Layton, and Charles "Chip" B. Layton Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Baarstad, in 1964; and a brother, Bradley Allen Baarstad, in 1960.

Peggy Jo Cabler

The memorial service for Peggy Jo Cabler will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Liam Carey will officiate.

Ms. Cabler, 62, of Medford, died Thursday (April 13, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, 285 Lawrence St., Eugene, OR 97401.

She was born July 22, 1937, in Custer City, Okla., a daughter of Joseph and Juanita Cabler. She moved to the Rogue Valley 60 years ago from Oklahoma.

Ms. Cabler was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and enjoyed volunteering at the parish as much as possible.

She enjoyed calligraphy and sewing.

Survivors include two brothers, James O. Cabler, Medford, and Wayne Cabler, Phoenix.

Raymond L. McKnight

Raymond LeRoy McKnight, 74, of Medford, died Saturday (April 15, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Medford, a son of Joe and Alice McKnight. He attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1944.

On Aug. 12, 1951, in Grants Pass, he married Betty Louise Sparks, who survives.

Mr. McKnight worked in construction for 20 years. He then worked for Balteau Standard Transformer Company, now Alston in White City, for 25 years, retiring in 1994.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on aircraft carriers and received the Purple Heart. He was recalled to duty during the Korean War.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Brian, Merlin, and Gary, Bothell, Wash.; two brothers, Marvin, Medford, and Robert, Springfield; and three granddaughters.

Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Services.

Maude F. Stagg

The graveside service for Maude F. Stagg will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Mrs. Stagg, 88, of Medford, died Saturday (April 15, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Alliance of Oregon, P.O. Box 10051, Portland, OR 97296-0051.

She was born Maude Comstock on Aug. 7, 1911, in Helvetia, Ore. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1926 from Weed, Calif.

On Jan. 5, 1966, in Reno, Nev., she married Leroy Stagg, who died in 1998.

Mrs. Stagg was a minister with her husband. They helped churches in small communities get started.

She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Medford.

Mrs. Stagg enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Adella Schloss, Rogue River, Irene Bane, Eagle Point, and Charlotte Pope, Roseburg; three sons, Leonard Walch and Kenny Walch, both White City, and Leslie Walch, in Southern California; a sister, Hazel Overstreet, Grants Pass; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Walch; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Colleen Hampton

Colleen Hampton, 69, of Shady Cove, died Friday (April 14, 2000) at her home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 9320 S.E. Barbur Blvd., Portland, OR 97219, or to a favorite charity.

She was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Klamath Falls, a daughter of Joseph and Leona (Brewington) Halda.

In 1969, in Las Vegas, she married Donald R. Hampton, who survives.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include five sons, Michael Olson, Medford, James Olson, Lakeside, Rodney Olson, in Arizona, Doug Hampton, Pittsburg, Calif., and Michael Hampton, American Canyon, Calif.; a daughter, Janet Olson Skow, Hercules, Calif.; a sister, Ginger Lent, Medford; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Hampton.
