Dorothy L. Bell Palmer

The funeral for Dorothy Lea Bell Palmer will be at 1 p.m. today at Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. Pastor Leonard Murphy will officiate. Interment will be in Medford Eastwood Cemetery.

Ms. Palmer, 68, of Medford, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, 2424 Delta Waters Road, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Florien, La., a daughter of William and Mary (Stringer) Ross. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968 from Louisiana.

Ms. Palmer was a waitress.

She was a member of Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church.

Ms. Palmer enjoyed canning, reading and her family.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Stevenson, Medford, and Terry Stevenson, Bryant, Ark.; two daughters, Tammy Palmer-Nava, Medford, and Sherry Bleeker, Twin Falls, Idaho; a brother, Chuck Belgarde, Grants Pass; a sister, Sue Belgarde, Grants Pass; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, in 1985; and two brothers, Ralph and Frank Ross.

Friends may pay their respects at noon today at Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church.

Grady T. Rabjohn

The graveside service for Grady T. Rabjohn will be at 11 a.m. today at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mr. Rabjohn, 84, of Williams, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at his home.

He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Pike County, Ark., a son of Lela and Luther Rabjohn.

On Oct. 7, 1937, at Amity, Ark., he married Nellie Bryant, who survives.

Mr. Rabjohn was a millwright in the timber industry for 30 years. He lived in the Roseburg area for 10 years before moving to Talent in 1977. He moved to Williams in 1978.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Jesse L., Ashland, Charley B., Williams, and Thomas D., Tolleson, Ariz.; a daughter, Rebecca N. Harrison, Eugene; a brother, Grover, Carnesville, Ga.; three sisters, Verla Migliacciao, Klamath Falls, Verna Arter, Lonoke, Ark., and Velma Merritt, Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Lucky Myers

The funeral for Lucky Myers will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens. Interment will be in Columbia Memorial Gardens in St. Helens.

Mr. Myers, 57, of Pendleton, formerly of Medford, died Thursday (April 20, 2000) at his home.

He was born March 14, 1943, in Sterling, Colo., a son of Earl Wesley and Sylvia Colleen (Williams) Myers. He graduated from St. Helens High School, and attended Portland State College for four years.

On Sept. 14, 1984, in Longview, Wash., he married Linda Ellen Colcord, who survives.

Mr. Myers was a hotel manager in Pendleton for the past six years.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Korea.

Mr. Myers lived in Medford for six years and was an avid member of the Medford Gun Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jerry G., Central Point; his mother, Colleen Armstrong, Canby; a stepdaughter, Jamie Miller, Portland; five brothers, Daryle and Earl Jr., both Scappoose; Dennis, Salem, Robert, Portland, and Jack, Sterling, Colo.; a sister, Karen Liebe, St. Helens; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl; a brother, Lanny; a daughter, Debbie Myers; and his grandparents, James and Marie Myers.

Arrangements: Burns Mortuary, Pendleton.

Roderick 'Bob' Stevens

Roderick D. "Bob" Stevens, 74, of Medford, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Hearthstone. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 236, Medford, OR 97504, or the Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Canon City, Colo., a son of Fred W. and Viola Lane Stevens.

On May 18, 1947, he married Shirley Jean Routh, who survives. They moved to Medford in 1949.

Mr. Stevens joined his father in business at Stevens Auto Sales in Medford.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific for three years.

He enjoyed his friends, golfing, keeping up with sports, and helping his wife and neighbors with home projects.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister, Beverly Covillo, Golden, Colo.; and his stepmother, Eva Lee Anderson, Medford.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Vernon 'Rick' Hand Jr.

The memorial service for Vernon "Rick" De Richard Hand Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Hand, 55, of Springfield, formerly of Eagle Point, died Friday (April 21, 2000) in Springfield.

He was born Dec. 20, 1944, in Eugene, a son of Vernon and Ruby Hand.

On July 25, 1987, in Springfield, he married Linda Ulsted, who survives.

He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene in 1989. He then received a certificate of education from Western Oregon State College in Monmouth and a master of arts degree in history from Western Oregon State College in 1998.

Mr. Hand served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam and Germany from 1963 to 1985. He then joined the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring as a captain in 1994. He received the Bronze Star in Vietnam in 1968.

In Medford, Mr. Hand was general manager for the Rogue Valley Transit District. He also taught history at Gilchrist High School. He worked in numerous other occupations, including as a peanut roaster at Hoody's Peanut Roasters.

Mr. Hand was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the National Education Association.

He enjoyed history, computers, photography and coaching baseball and football in junior high and high school.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Kyle, Portland; his parents, Vernon and Ruby Hand, Springfield; four stepdaughters, Naomi Ulsted, Portland, Ila Reimer, Seattle, Tanya Ulsted, Trail, and Leah Poulin, Springfield; a stepson, Adrian Ulsted, Ashland; and a brother, Larry, Sacramento, Calif.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

George L. Moreland

The graveside service for George Larson Moreland will be at 1 p.m. today at Granite Hills Cemetery, Grants Pass.

Mr. Moreland, 74, of Rogue River, died April 19, 2000, at Three Rivers Hospital, Washington Campus, Grants Pass.

He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in West Virginia.

Mr. Moreland was a roofer in construction. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968 from Florida.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a son, Robert F.; two daughters, Billie Jean Perez, Hayward, Calif., and Vera Marie Short, Marysville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, George Larson III, in 1992.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Sigrid T. Fort

The memorial service for Sigrid T. Fort will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Mrs. Fort, 86, of Medford, died Sunday (April 23, 2000) at Hearthstone.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 2424 N. Pacific Highway, Medford, OR 97501, or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1207, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Sigrid T. Unger on April 16, 1914, in Torsby, Sweden.

On Nov. 28, 1936, in Indianapolis, she married Charles Fort, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Indianapolis in 1945.

Mrs. Fort was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mrs. Fort enjoyed gardening, animals, farming and knitting.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Joe, Medford, Erik, Azalea, and Jim, Kennewick, Wash.; a daughter, Barbara McFarland, Medford; a sister, Alice Pearson, Santa Maria, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
