James C. Wanamaker

A private service was held for James C. Wanamaker.

Mr. Wanamaker, 85, of Medford, died Friday (June 2, 2000) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Chicago, Ill.

On Jan. 23, 1988, in Medford, he married Dorothy Shuqart, who survives.

Mr. Wanamaker moved from Saudi Arabia to the Rogue Valley in 1972, when he retired from the Exxon Oil Corp. He worked there as an engineer.

He served in the U.S. Navy, designing armor for ships.

Mr. Wanamaker enjoyed fishing, golf and rock hunting.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Donna Yonash, Occidental, Calif., and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Wanamaker, in 1986.

Kathryn Olive Straube

The funeral for Kathryn Olive Straube will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Interment will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Straube, 81, formerly of Applegate, died Sunday (May 28, 2000) in Vancouver, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 33 N. Central Ave., Suite 330, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Kathryn Olive Fletcher on July 30, 1918, in Billings, Mont. Her family moved to the Applegate Valley when she was a teenager. She lived there until five years ago, when she moved to Vancouver, Wash.

On Nov. 11, 1937, in Medford, she married John William "Bill" Straube, who died in 1988.

Mrs. Straube was a homemaker.

She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. William D., Vancouver, Wash., and Dr. John Lee, Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Donna Jean McGrew, Richmond, Mich.; a brother, James Fletcher, Cupertino, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Carolyn Elizabeth Bogart

The memorial gathering for Carolyn Elizabeth Bogart will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1424 Avocado Lane, Medford. Interment will be in Silver Hill Cemetery, Frostproof, Fla.

Mrs. Bogart, 57, of Medford, died Saturday (May 27, 2000) at her home after a one-year battle with cancer.

She was born July 12, 1942, in Mobile, Ala., a daughter of Earl and Bennie (Smith) Lambeth. She moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Hawaii.

She married Arthur Bogart, who died May 22, 2000.

Mrs. Bogart was a licensed practical nurse at several hospitals. She also did freelance modeling, and attended college to study jewelry making.

She enjoyed flower gardens, children, and working with jewelry.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Napoleon, Medford, Clifford L. Napoleon, Arcata, Calif.; three daughters, Regina L. Cantere, Medford, Ramona L. Driggers, Central Point, and Roxanna L. Westlake, Fort Richardson, Alaska; two stepsons, Steven Bogart, Medford, and Adrian Dopson, in Texas; two brothers, Joel Lambeth, Tampa, Fla., and Douglas Lambeth, in Florida; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Bennie Lambeth.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Gladys Gresham

The graveside service for Gladys Gresham will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. The Rev. Richard Kirk of Medford will officiate.

Mrs. Gresham, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (June 1, 2000) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Gladys Penrod on Aug. 10, 1915, in Pinetop, Ariz.

On Aug. 19, 1934, in Miami, Ariz., she married Robert Gresham, who died in 1988. She moved to the Rogue Valley 41 years ago from Ukiah, Calif.

Mrs. Gresham was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford.

Mrs. Gresham enjoyed gardening, sewing, and fishing with her husband.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.

Arthur ‘Art’ McGonagle

The memorial service for Arthur "Art" LeRoy McGonagle will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Shady Cove Assembly of God. Pastor Jack Bacon will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. McGonagle, 65, of Medford, died Saturday (May 27, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Central Point, a son of Jess and Mabel (Haggard) McGonagle.

On Jan. 16, 1955, in California, he married Hazel Maude Alsop, who died in 1977.

Mr. McGonagle was a millwright.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

Mr. McGonagle enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding and camping.

Survivors include four daughters, Shelly Lee, Eagle Point, Jodi Murray, Medford, and Cindy McGonagle and Mona Calhoun, both White City; three sons, Jesse, Medford, Bret, Eagle Point, and Artie Jr., Sisters; two brothers, Dave, Plains, Mont., and Louis, Brookings; a sister, Hazel Shopp, Medford; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Ralph; and two sisters, Bertha Eisenberg and Vida Young.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Donald ‘Don’ Gene Upp

The graveside service for Donald "Don" Gene Upp will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Upp, 72, of Central Point, died Saturday (May 27, 2000) at his home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Lebanon, Kan.

On Jan. 19, 1970, in Reno, Nev., he married Lois Pearl Wray, who survives. He moved to Central Point from Brookings in the 1970s.

Mr. Upp was a heavy equipment operator for Hughes Brothers in Medford. He also worked for McGrew Brothers in Ashland and for Panther Crushing.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950.

Mr. Upp was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Brookings.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Dee W. Lee, Jacksonville, Willis W. Lee, Ashland, and Jimmie McKee Monroe, Wash.; two daughters, Lynda Fredrickson, Medford, and Tammie McKee, Central Point; two sisters, Shirley Samuel, Denver, Colo., and Irene Ware, Arvada, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Bill.

Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Mildred M. Trunnell

Mildred "Peggy" M. Trunnell, 95, of Medford, died Saturday (May 27, 2000) at her home. The memorial service was held May 29 at the First Christian Church in Medford. Timothy Tiffany officiated. Interment will be in Hemet-San Jacinto Valley Cemetery in Hemet, Calif.

She was born Sept. 20, 1904, in Healdsburg, Calif., a daughter of Lincoln W. and Britamart (Baisley) Pierce.

On July 8, 1923, in Santa Ana, Calif., she married Hugh C. Trunnell, who died in 1977.

Mrs. Trunnell was a maternity nurse for 10 years at Wilson Maternity Home in Hemet, Calif. She then worked at Hemet Valley Hospital for 15 years. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986.

She was a life member of the Taquitz Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, No. 241, and was Worthy Matron in 1954.

Mrs. Trunnell enjoyed reciting poems she had learned in elementary school to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends.

Survivors include a son, Donald B., Aguanga, Calif.; a daughter, Marjorie J. Hearrell, Medford; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters, two half-brothers; and one half-sister.
