Sherrie L. Stockebrand

The memorial service for Sherrie L. Stockebrand will be at 4 p.m. June 24, at the Lost Creek Lake Picnic Area. The Rev. Dennis Holcomb of the Prospect Assembly of God will officiate.

Ms. Stockebrand, 57, of Prospect, died Tuesday (May 16, 2000) at Oregon State Hospital in Salem.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1311 N.W. 21st St., Portland, OR 97209.

She was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Iola, Kan., a daughter of William and Gladys Dillman. She graduated from high school in Yates Center, Kan.

In June 1960, in Yates Center, Kan., she married Keith L. Stockebrand. They later divorced. She moved to Prospect from Kansas in 1969.

Ms. Stockebrand was a homemaker.

She enjoyed quilting, horseback riding, and telling limericks and jokes.

Survivors include a son, Lon D., Prospect; a daughter, Joy L. Young, Gold Beach; two brothers, Kenneth L. Dillman, Eagle Point, and Larry W. Dillman, Prineville; two sisters, Patricia L. Karmun, Prospect, and Sally S. Smith, Medford; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Dillman.

Arrangements: City View Funeral Home, Salem.

Josephine E. Flanagan

Josephine Elinor Flanagan, 82, of Medford, died Thursday (May 18, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. The service will be held at a later date.

She was born Josephine Smith on Dec. 28, 1917, in Trinidad, British West Indies.

On Dec. 28, 1939, in Hollywood, Calif., she married Christopher J. Flanagan, who survives.

Mrs. Flanagan taught in the Los Angeles school system for 17 years, and at private schools for six years.

She belonged to a garden club in Pacific Grove, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Pebble Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Flanagan was an avid gardener. She enjoyed traveling, oil painting and cooking.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Joseph E., in Washington; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ray Offord Jr.

Ray Offord Jr., 82, longtime owner of Ray Offord Logging, died May 3, 2000, in Jacksonville.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford. The officers of the Elks Lodge will officiate.

He was born April 18, 1918, in Alberta, Canada. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1920, and graduated from Medford High School in 1936. He was selected to the all conference football team in 1936 under coach Bill Bowerman.

In 1940, in Carson City, Nev., he married Frances N. Wakefield, who died in 1995.

Mr. Offord owned Ray Offord Logging for 48 years. He began his career in logging in 1936, when he went to work for Weyerhauser Corporation, falling timber by hand with his father, Ray Offord Sr. He also constructed and owned Bear Creek Golf Course.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a company commander for 100 radar specialists for one year, and as a "Specialist A" athletic instructor, teaching boxing, wrestling and hand-to-hand combat.

Mr. Offord was on the Board of Directors of the Eugene Logging Conference for three years, was chairman of the Oregon State Loggers, Southern Oregon Division for five years, and was on the Board of Directors of Southern Oregon Timber Industries for three years, serving as president for one year. He was also on the board of trustees of the Medford Elks Lodge No. 1168 for three years.

His civic activities included serving on the board of directors and board of trustees of the Medford YMCA for three years, as chairman of the Athletic Committee for five years, and as chairman of the Mill and Loggers Division of the United Medford Crusade for three years. He was also on the funding committee for Rogue Valley Medical Center, and was a major contributor.

Survivors include three sons, Lynn, Medford, Steve, Jacksonville, and Gene, Eugene; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Al and Bill; and five sisters, Jesse, Mary, Shirley, Evelyn and Ruth.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Deborah E. Ondesko

Debbie Elaine Dodge Ondesko, 46, of Amity, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) in McMinnville. A private service was held in Amity. No local memorial service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Center, 228 N. Holly St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Oct. 15, 1953, in Medford, a daughter of Steven J. and Jo Ann Dodge. She grew up in Medford and graduated from what was then Medford High School.

On April 7, 1972, she married Paul Craig Ondesko, who survives.

Mrs. Ondesko was a member of Rogue Valley Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Laurie Novac and Teresa Ondesko, both Salem; two sons, Craig and Jon Ondesko, both Salem; her mother, Jo Ann Dodge, Medford; her grandmother, Mrs. Arnold Gosnell, Medford; four sisters, Ginny Hinrichs, Newberg, Paula Chapman, Trail, Montella Lopez, San Jose, Calif., and Mary Scheutt, Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Jim Dodge, Santa Clara, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul John; her father, Steven J. Dodge; and her grandparents, Arnold Gosnell, and John and Mary Dodge.

Arrangements: City View Funeral Home and Cemetery, Salem.

Clyde 'Johnny' Jones

Clyde "Johnny" Edward Jones, 76, of Medford, died Wednesday (May 10, 2000) at his home. A private service was held.

He was born March 14, 1924, in Hendersonville, N.C., a son of Allen LeRoy and Addie Mae (Case) Jones. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959 from Klamath Falls.

Mr. Jones owned and operated an electronics business.

He was a member of Harvest Baptist Temple

Mr. Jones enjoyed CB radios, auto racing, bingo and hunting.

Survivors include three sons, A.C. "Tom, " Central Point, Roy Allen, Roseburg, and James, Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Jean Jones Duncan, Idaho City, Idaho; a brother, Garland "Bud, " Sumpter; a sister, Hazel Lee Nelson, Central Point; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Howard 'Lee' Clark

The graveside service for Howard "Lee" Clark will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Jean Semrau of Rogue Valley Medical Center will officiate.

Mr. Clark, 67, of Medford, died Thursday (May 11, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson County Animal Care and Control, 5595 S. Pacific Highway, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Feb. 25, 1933, in New Castle, Colo.

On Dec. 21, 1974, in Rockland, Maine, he married Pat Olson, who survives.

Mr. Clark retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he was a long-haul truck driver. He spent the majority of his life in the Rogue Valley, alternating between Maine and Oregon. He lived in Medford for the last three years.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserves.

Mr. Clark enjoyed traveling in his RV and driving his truck.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four stepdaughters, Carol Kelley, Owls Head, Maine, Charlene Ward, Colville, Wash., and Joan Small and Jane Brown, both Tenants Harbor, Maine.; his mother, Rosa Oliver, Medford; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Elmer J. Stephenson

Elmer James Stephenson, 85, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at a Medford foster care home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary Clinic Memorial Fund, 8495 Crater Lake Highway, White City, OR 97503.

He was born June 20, 1914, in Detroit, a son of Elmer and Mary Stephenson.

Mr. Stephenson was a security officer for Hughes Electronics. He moved to Oregon in 1993 from Nevada.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Stephenson enjoyed his pets (birds, cats and dogs), letter writing and socializing.

Survivors include a son, Terry B., Central Point; a daughter, Karen Stephenson, Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
