Ruth Ann Halstead

The graveside service for Ruth Ann Halstead will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jacksonville Cemetery. Pastor Don Calvert of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship will officiate. The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. in the Veterans of Foreign Wars lounge.

Ms. Halstead, 63, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 1, 2000) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 1211, Eagle Point, OR 97524.

She was born April 24, 1936, in Tacoma, Wash. She moved to the Rogue Valley 35 years ago from Olympia, Wash.

Ms. Halstead was a bar manager at the VFW lounge in Medford for 15 years, retiring in 1997.

She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1833.

Ms. Halstead enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her companion, Joseph Shaver, Medford; a daughter, Kari Pomeroy, Medford; three sons, LeRoy, Fullerton, Calif., and Rusty and Richard, both in Germany; a brother, Dale Craig, Waukegan, Ill.; three sisters, Bonnie Zink, Tigard, Helen Geertson, Milwaukie, and Mary Dungan, Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Richard Craig.

Jack M. Marbury

The memorial service for Jack Montgomery Marbury will be at 11 a.m Tuesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.

Mr. Marbury, 83, of Medford, died Feb. 27, 2000, at the home of Evelyn Marbury in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to AMRA, P.O. Box 8656, San Jose, CA 95155.

He was born June 25, 1916, in Madisonville, Ky., a son of Robert H. and Verda (Oates) Marbury.

On Sept. 30, 1944, in Milwaukee, he married Evelyn Brekke, who survives. They later divorced.

Mr. Marbury was an engineer for United Airlines in Chicago from 1945 to 1948. He then moved to Redwood City, Calif., where he worked in San Francisco until his retirement in 1977. He moved to Gold Hill in 1994 from Redwood City, Calif., and had recently moved to Medford.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Marbury was a member of the American Legion in Redwood City and Rogue River. He was a member of the United Airlines Retirees, Parent's Association of Retarded Children and Adults (PARCA) in San Mateo, Calif., AMRA and many other organizations.

He enjoyed fishing, computers and writing.

Survivors include four daughters, Claudia and Roberta Marbury, both Medford, Jane Erbeck, Angels Camp, Calif., and Janet Marbury, Redwood City, Calif.; a son, David, San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Evelyn Marbury, Medford.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Harry L. Thompson

Harry L. Thompson, 90, of Medford, died Friday (March 3, 2000) at his home. A private service has been planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Community Health Foundation Hospice, 111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford 97504.

He was born Aug. 25, 1909, in Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, Medford; son Tom, Ashland; daughter Katy Thompson Taft, Beaverton; sister Jane Place, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements have been made by Perl Funeral Home.

Margradelle Sellers

A memorial service for Margradelle Sellers, 74, of Central Point, a former Prospect School District teacher, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 607 W. Main St., Medford. The Rev. Darey Burkhalter and William McDonald will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the church, or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, Ore.

She was born June 10, 1925, to William and Ethel Lincoln McCullough, in Lincoln, Neb.

She moved to the Rogue Valley from Nebraska in 1943.

On Sept. 3, 1966, in Medford, she married Don Sellers.

Mrs. Sellers taught at Prospect Elementary School for many years. She also was a licensed Christian educator and was in charge of education at the First United Methodist Church.

She retired in 1981.

Mrs. Sellers a member of the church and United Methodist Women.

She enjoyed fishing, volunteer work with her church and square dancing.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a brother, Jim McCullough, Oregon City.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Hiatt, and brothers William Ray and Robert Lincoln McCullough.

Roger Paul Gratsinger

The memorial service for Roger Paul Gratsinger will be at 4 p.m. today at Eagle Point Community Bible Church.

The Revs. Dick Bull and Cass Schreib will officiate.

Mr. Gratsinger, 64, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (March 2, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Point Community Bible Church, P.O. Box 192, Eagle Point, OR 97524, or the Medford Gospel Mission, 125 W. Jackson St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born April 24, 1935, in Butternut, N.Y., a son of Frank and Gladys (Cline) Gratsinger. He moved to Oregon in 1961.

On Oct. 1, 1961, in Eagle Point, he married Jane Westover, who survives.

Mr. Gratsinger was a self-employed cabinet maker.

He enjoyed working and serving his church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Scott Gratsinger, Newberg; a daughter, Connie Lowe, Bend; three brothers, Glenn, Medford, Frank, White City, and Richard, Monroe; and one grandson.

Patricia Pauline Overby

A gathering of the family and friends of Patricia Pauline Overby will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Overby, 72, of Bend, formerly of Medford, died Jan. 10, 2000, in Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Oregon, 9320 S.W. Barbur Blvd., Suite 140, Portland, OR 97219-5481.

She was born Jan. 22, 1928, in Twin Falls, Idaho, a daughter of Harold H. and Erma Faye (Thuma) Kerfoot.

On Oct. 27, 1945, in Klamath Falls, she married Dewey Franklin Yates II, who died in 1973. She then married Marion Hal Overby. They later divorced.

Mrs. Overby was a former member of Medford Emblem Club No. 420. She lived in Medford in the late 1970s and 80s.

Survivors include a son, Dewey Franklin III, Terrebonne; a daughter, Cherese Faye Bond, Redmond; three sisters, Arlene Shepard, Hill City, Kan., Laurene Cone, Medford, and Jacqueline Kinion, Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and her former husband, Marion Hal Overby, Medford.

Arrangements: Autumn Funeral Home, Redmond.

Michele V. A. Shamblin

The memorial service for Michele Virginia Ann Shamblin, will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodville Cemetery in Rogue River. The Rev. Gregory Moys will officiate.

Mrs. Shamblin, 57, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (Feb. 29, 2000) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 400 N.E. E St., Grants Pass, OR 97526.

She was born March 9, 1942, in San Jose, Calif. She attended Santa Clara High School.

On Nov. 4, 1961, in San Jose, Calif., she married Larry Gene Shamblin Sr., who survives. They moved to Rogue River in 1971 from Gilroy, Calif.

Mrs. Shamblin enjoyed her yard, especially her roses.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Larry Jr., Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Jill Stickler, Rogue River; her mother, Elizabeth Martin, Santa Clara, Calif.; a brother, Dennis Martin, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Mary Zimmerman, San Jose, Calif.; and six granddaughters.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.
