Nadine Drysdale Kelly

Nadine B. Drysdale Kelly, 91, of Beaverton, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 31, 1999) in Beaverton. No service is planned. Her ashes will be scattered at Lake of the Woods.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice, 9205 S.W. Barnes Road, Portland, OR 97225.

She was born Nadine Brearcliffe on Nov. 2, 1907, in Red Bluff, Calif. She graduated from what is now Southern Oregon University in Ashland.

In 1972, she married James Kelly, who died in 1991. She lived in Mesa, Ariz., for 14 years, and in Medford for 35 years.

Mrs. Kelly was a second- and third-grade teacher in Eagle Point and Phoenix. She retired in 1971.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the National Education Association. She was a past president of the Oregon Education Association.

Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Episcopal church.

Survivors include two sons, David Shaffer, Mount Shasta, Calif., and Gary Shaffer, Beaverton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Autumn Funerals & Cremations, Tigard.

Lorraine J. Bobbett

Lorraine J. Bobbett, 78, of White City, died Saturday (Oct. 30, 1999) at her home. No service is planned. Interment will be in Valley of the Sun Memorial Park, Phoenix, Ariz.

She was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Enid, Okla., a daughter of Edward and Bessie (Shepard) Johnson. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Kansas in 1938, and lived here on and off.

On Sept. 2, 1939, in Medford, she married James R. Bobbett, who survives.

Mrs. Bobbett, was an office administrator for St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., and at Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. In the Rogue Valley, she worked for Bear Creek Orchards for seven years.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Ron, Corrales, N.M., and Jim P., Mindinoa, Philippines; a daughter, Jan Bobbett, Oracle, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Christina Mary Buck

The memorial service for Christina Mary Buck will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Ashland Christian Fellowship. Pastor Andy Green will officiate.

Ms. Buck, 63, of Talent, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Self Help Enterprises Building Fund, P.O. Box 351, Visalia, CA 93279.

She was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Northfield, Vt., a daughter of Bradley and Ruth Buck. She graduated from high school in Northfield, Vt. She attended San Diego City College and Rutgers University in Camden, N.J., where she majored in accounting. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Visalia, Calif., in 1994.

Ms. Buck was a secretary for WAVES National, Oregon Webfoot United No. 46. She was also a volunteer for the Oregon State Police Disabled Parking Patrol.

She served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-58.

Ms. Buck enjoyed fishing, theater, cross-country skiing and reading.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Buck, Northfield, Vt., and Donald Buck, Montpelier, Vt.; and two sisters, Bernice De Felice, Northfield, Vt., and Phyllis Spaulding, Jeffersonville, Vt. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Buck.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Shirley G. Langstaff

The graveside service for Shirley G. Langstaff will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. The Rev. Charles Symmank will officiate.

Mrs. Langstaff, 78, of Harrison, Ariz., formerly of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 1, 1999) at her home.

She was born Shirley Korterud on Nov. 30, 1920, in Chicago.

On Sept. 1, 1941, in Chicago, she married Conrad W. Langstaff, who died in 1998. She moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago from Oakland, Calif. She moved to Harrison, Ariz. a year ago.

Mrs. Langstaff was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Medford.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Allan, Harrison, Ariz., and Glen Regan, Suisun, Calif.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Linda MacGregor.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Hayzel Mildred Pagel

Hayzel Mildred Pagel, 83, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.

She was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Lowell, Idaho.

On April 9, 1961, in Las Vegas, she married Ronald R. Pagel, who survives. She moved to Oregon from California in 1965.

Mrs. Pagel was a homemaker.

She enjoyed camping, fishing and flowers.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Elwon LeBow, Charleston, Gerald LeBow, Sheridan, and Darrel LeBow, Myrtle Creek; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a son, Melvin Jenkins, in 1993.

E. Miona Schmunk

The graveside service for E. Miona Schmunk will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hayfork Cemetery in Hayfork, Calif. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Veteran's Hall in Hayfork.

Mrs. Schmunk, 76, of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 1, 1999) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, while visiting family in the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hayfork Hospice Foundation, c/o DeMoss-Durdan Garden Chapel, 815 N.W. Buchanan, Corvallis, OR 97330.

She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Monterey, Calif., a daughter of Ira and Mary Elizabeth (Grant) Deakin. She graduated from high school in Monterey.

In Westwood, Calif., she married David Fredrick Schmunk, who died in 1994. She lived in Wildwood, Calif., for 31 years, and moved to Medford in 1994.

Mrs. Schmunk was a member of the Redondo Beach Mothers of Twins Club. Of her 10 children, there were two sets of twins, and a set of triplets. In Wildwood, she belonged to the Wildwood Fire Bell Club, the volunteer fire department's women's auxiliary. In Medford, she volunteered with Call-A-Ride as a respite care provider and driver.

Survivors include six sons, Bob and Art, both Albany, Charlie, Philomath, Roy, Aumsville, Jim, Yreka, Calif., and Doug, Kennewick, Wash.; three daughters, Cindy Broughton, Pasco, Wash., Wanda Helmick, Petersburg, Alaska, and Susan Mullinax, Shasta Lake City, Calif.; a sister, Lou Hochberger, Carmel Valley, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous adopted sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ray Schmunk, in 1975; two brothers, Robert and Wayne Deakin; and two sisters, Betty Deakin and Louise Wolfenden.

Arrangements: McDonald-Files Funeral Chapel, Weaverville, Calif.

Lois C. Mellelo

The memorial service for Lois C. Mellelo will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church of Ashland. Pastor Dwayne Robinson will officiate.

Mrs. Mellelo, 71, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Chicota, Texas.

In 1958, in Virginia City, Nev., she married Salvatore Mellelo, who died in 1980. She moved to the Rogue Valley 16 years ago from Tracy, Calif.

Mrs. Mellelo was a waitress at several restaurants.

She was a member of Faith Tabernacle.

Mrs. Mellelo enjoyed cats, sewing, cooking and craft work.

Survivors include four sons, Barney Northcutt and Sal Mellelo, both Medford; Jac Van Art, Ashland, and Jim E. Bristow, Salida, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Scaife, Ashland; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Bert Bristow; and a granddaughter.

Arrangements: Ashland Funeral Care.
