Bill J. Anderson

The memorial service for Bill J. Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.

Mr. Anderson, 67, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born July 24, 1931 in Oklahoma.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr Anderson was employed as a cat skinner in the timber industry.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and crabbing.

Survivors include two sons, Bill, Brookings, and Kenny, Eugene; three daughters, Jackie Morgan, Klamath Falls, Peggy Arnett, Brookings, and Sandy Seibert, Eagle Point; two brothers, Boe and Buddy, both of Valiant, Okla; a sister, Gen Swisher, Elgin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford

Joseph P. Bradshaw Jr.

A private service for Joseph P. Bradshaw Jr. will be at 10:30 a.m. June 26, 1999 at the family cabin. Joseph Bradshaw III will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20037.

Mr. Bradshaw, 83, of the Applegate Valley, died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) in Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born Jan. 14, 1916 in Bernardsville, N.J.

On Dec., 7, 1940, in New York City, he married Vivian Olson, who survives. He moved to the Applegate Valley in 1955.

During World War II, Mr. Bradshaw served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Office of Strategic Services (OSS), secret military operations. While in the Army he received two Bronze Stars. He made more than 350 parachute jumps during a period including several years' service with Yugoslav partisans as well as the Rome-Arno campaigns.

He worked for Carrier and Clark Equipment Company as a regional manager for the Western Division, retiring in 1975.

Mr. Bradshaw was a member of the Applegate Lions Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Gay Arndt Bradshaw, Applegate; a son, Joseph Paul Bradshaw III, Sanibal, Fla.; a sister, Helne Bradshaw Billings, Morristown, N.J.; and a brother, John Tyron, Dallas.

Arrangements: Harvey Engelhardt Metz Funeral Home, Fort Myers, Fla.

Burleen Salmon Smith

The funeral for Burleen Salmon Smith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Valley Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Irvin Bostwick will officiate.

Mrs. Smith, 76, of Central Point, died Thursday (June 17, 1999) at her home.

She was born Burleen Beasley on June 22, 1922, at McCurtain, Okla. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1951 from California.

On Dec. 18, 1983 in Reno, Nev., she married John Smith, who survives.

Mrs. Smith worked for Reiter Cannery and fruit packing, and she was a homemaker.

She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, traveling and going to Crater Lake.

Survivors in addition to her husband include, a son, Richard Salmon, Central Point; three daughters, Wanda Woods Fipps, Medford, Arlene Woods Redden, Red Bluff, Calif., Betty Woods McCause, Martinez, Calif.; two sisters, Leslie Hicks, Dequeen, Ark., and Joyce Wilson, Mena, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Boaz Salmon; a brother, Buddy Beasley; and two sisters, Dell Hammond and Yvonne Simpson.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, 800 S. Front St., Central Point.

Freida Ellen Fontaine

The memorial service for Freida Ellen Fontaine will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home, in Lander, Wyo. The Rev. Ann Fontaine of St. David's Episcopal Church, Shoshone Mission, will officiate.

Contributions may be sent to American Diabetes Association, c/o Hudson's Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Drive, Lander, WY 92520.

Mrs. Fontaine, 87, of Lander, formerly of Medford, died June 10, 1999.

She was born Freida Ellen Heryford on Sept., 12, 1911, in New Pine Creek, Calif.

She graduated from Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing in 1932. At the time of her retirement she was the Director of Nursing at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Fontaine and her husband, Bill, who preceded her in death, moved to Lander after her retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. James Fontaine and John Fontaine, of Lander; a daughter, Susan Erickson, Georgia; two brothers, Fred Heryford, Lander, and Dr. Dan Heryford of Oregon; six grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Hudson's Funeral Home, Lander.

William Fujikawa

William Fujikawa, 74, died Saturday (June 12, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

He was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Burbank, Calif.

Mr. Fujikawa retired from Universal Studios and moved to Ashland in 1986.

He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a founding and active member of the Asian Arts Society here. He was a potter and ikebana floral arranger.

He enjoyed gardening, fly-fishing and bird-watching and was an organizer and sponsor of an annual neighborhood party at the end of summer.

During World War II, he served as a U.S. Army interpreter.

Survivors include his wife, Sachi, Ashland; two sons, David, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Bill, Escondido, Calif., a brother, Masao, Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Fujie Kato, Solvang, Calif., Kay Yokoyama, Newport Beach, Calif., and Chizuko Sanford, Berkeley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral Inc., Medford.

Chester R. Kamberg

The memorial service for Chester "Chet" R. Kamberg will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Central Point. Pastor Dwayne Brown will officiate. Inurnment will be at Jacksonville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deacons Memorial Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 456 W. Pine St., Central Point, OR 97502.

Mr. Kamberg, 83, of Central Point, died Tuesday (June 15, 1999) in Medford.

He was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Union, in Union County.

On Aug. 21, 1942, in Reno, he married Lois L. Matheny, who survives. He was a Rogue Valley resident since 1927.

Mr. Kamberg attended Central Point High School. He worked as a retail salesman.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Ashland Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing and was a collector of memorabilia.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Valerie Elbert, Central Point; a brother, Paul, Prescott, Ariz.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Burton and Kenneth.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Milton Emmit Lewis

Milton Emmit Lewis, 77, of Grants Pass, died Monday (June 14, 1999) in Grants Pass. No service is planned.

He was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Dallas, Texas.

In September 1950, in Las Vegas, he married Alice Elizabeth Root, who died in 1996. He moved to the Rogue Valley 27 years ago from California.

Mr. Lewis completed four years of college and worked as an electrical engineer.

He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1940.

Survivors include two sons, Ritchie M., Carmel, Calif., and Thomas M., Los Angeles; two daughters, Nadine Ballard, Fort Worth, Texas, and Mary Sharlene Liguori, Carson City, Nev.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Richard D. Kromminga

The memorial service for Richard D. Kromminga will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Silverton High School gymnasium in Silverton. A private interment is planned in Pleasant Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Northwest area office, 161 High St. SE, Suite 208, Salem, OR 97381.

Mr. Kromminga, 55, of Salem and formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Saturday (June 12, 1999) in Salem.

He was born March 8, 1944, in Eugene.

On May 19, 1989, he married Naomi J. Shackleton, who survives.

Mr. Kromminga graduated from North Bend High School in 1962. He received a bachelor's degree in social science and secondary education and a bachelor's degree in geography from Southern Oregon State College. He received a master's degree from the University of Oregon.

He taught school for the Bethel School District in Eugene. He taught, counseled and coached football, baseball and basketball at Ashland High School. He taught in the education psychology department at SOSC and was director of alumni for three years and an assistant coach for seven. He was assistant principal at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham for two years and principal at Silverton High School for nine years.

Mr. Kromminga was a member of the Silverton Rotary Club, Elks and the Northwest Accreditation Association.

He enjoyed traveling the back roads of Oregon, discovering the many small, rural schools.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Dianda L. Parsons, Wilsonville, and Shawn N. Waite, Albany; a sister, Gayle J. Martin, North Bend; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.
