Helen L. Anderson

The graveside service for Helen Laraine Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor John Mantisas will officiate.

Mrs. Anderson, 78, of Dallas, Ore., formerly of Medford, died Sunday (May 23, 1999) in Dallas.

She was born Helen Laraine Williams on March 25, 1921, in California. She lived in the Rogue Valley from 1935 to 1997.

On Sept. 22, 1940, in Oregon, she married Albert E. Anderson, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Child Evangelism.

Survivors include a daughter, Laraine Zurline, Salem,; two brothers, Glen Williams, Medford, and Keith Williams, Grapeview, Wash.; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

O. Grey Fairbanks Jr.

O. Grey Fairbanks Jr., 75, of Medford, formerly of Klamath Falls, died Monday (May 24, 1999) at his home. A private service has been held.

He was born May 11, 1924, in Franklin, Pa. He moved to the Rogue Valley several months ago from Klamath Falls.

Mr. Fairbanks was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1966.

He was a member of the Klamath Falls Senior Center, and was an ombudsman for the nursing homes in Klamath County.

Mr. Fairbanks enjoyed golf, reading and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Ann, Medford; five sons, Jeff, Medford, James, Klamath Falls, David, Weatherton, Okla., Ronald, Oroville, Calif., and Mark McClure, Rolling Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Jean Parkhill, Duvall, Wash.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Deronda G. Yarbrough

The graveside service for Deronda Isabell Griffin Yarbrough will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Yarbrough, 83, of Portland, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday, (May 25, 1999), in a Portland care facility.

She was born Deronda Blair, April 14, 1916, in Paragould, Ark. She moved to Medford in 1953.

Mrs. Yarbrough moved to Tacoma, Wash., in 1983.

In 1985, she married Larry Yarbrough, who died in 1994. In 1994 she moved to Portland.

Mrs. Yarbrough enjoyed traveling.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include six daughters, Wanda Currier, Riddle, Vada Banks, Portland, Merleen Ashworth, Soldotna, Alaska, Marlee Griffin, Erie, Mich., Shirley Lodge, Las Vegas, Jodie Griffin, Palm Desert, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Griffin, in 1982; a daughter, Gloria Dalbec, in 1997; and a grandson in 1976.

Eugene W. Anderson

Friends and relatives of Eugene W. Anderson will gather for a potluck celebration at 1 p.m. Sunday in his home in Trail.

Mr. Anderson, 73, of Trail, died May 20, 1999, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Barbara Belle Beebe

The memorial service for Barbara Belle Beebe will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church. The Revs. Quincy Angier and Jim Clifford will officiate.

Mrs. Beebe, 77, of Central Point, died Monday (May 24, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford Gospel Mission, 409 N. Front St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Barbara Lyon on Nov. 14, 1921, in Santa Barbara, Calif., a daughter of Elwood Perley and Cora Gertrude (Moore) Lyon. She moved to the Rogue Valley as a child in the early 1950s.

She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oregon in 1954. In 1961 and 1964, she studied at the University of Paris on a Fulbright Scholarship.

On July 26, 1969, in Salem, she married Kenneth R. Beebe, who survives.

Mrs. Beebe taught school for 26 years in Josephine and Jackson counties, retiring from the Medford School District in 1982. She and her husband also owned and operated Beebe Farms and Produce.

She belonged to the Providence Hospital Guild, and Delta Kappa Gamma, Epsilon Chapter.

Mrs. Beebe was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Darlene Lyon Kruse, Ashland, and Virginia Fairbanks, Dallas; a son, Howard Earl Tomlinson, Guyton, Ga.; two sisters, Lorraine Angier and Edna Lutz, both Portland; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, central Point.

Ronald F. Schafer

The memorial service for Ronald Frederick Schafer will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rogue Valley Christian Church in Medford. Kenne Horton will officiate.

Mr. Schafer, 59, of Rogue River, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (May 23, 1999) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Dimmick, in Grants Pass.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born July 15, 1939, in Portland.

On Nov. 20, 1981, in Jacksonville, he married Judith Coffman Greb, who survives. He moved to Rogue River two years ago from Medford.

Mr. Schafer was a landscape gardener. He worked for the Medford Parks and Recreation Department for the last nine years.

He was a 27-year member of the Eagles.

Mr. Schafer enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and traveling to Reno.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Michael Greb, Eagle Point, Christopher Greb, Sams Valley, Daren Schafer, Salem, and Andy Schafer, Portland; three daughters, Donya Greg, Medford, Kami Hemingway, Eagle Point, and Anita Havemann, Lake Oswego; three sisters, Eileen Limbaugh, Medford, Margie Tillett, Petaluma, Calif., and Linda Patterson, Lewiston, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Maryann Ruth Brewer

The graveside service for Maryann Ruth Brewer will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Brewer, 70, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (May 23, 1999) at her home.

She was born Maryann Ruth Robinson on Sept. 29, 1928, in San Francisco. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984 from Manteca, Calif.

Mrs. Brewer was a member of the Degree of Pocahontas.

She enjoyed ceramics.

Survivors include three sons, Dan, Medford, Lawrence Jr., San Jose, Calif., and Frank, San Francisco; five daughters, Nancy Brewer, Medford, Theresa Brewer, White City, Judy Keagy, Eagle Point, Cathy Alvarado, San Jose, Calif., and Jane Smith, Escalon, Calif.; three brothers, Jack Robinson, Walnut Creek, Calif., Jim Robinson, Daly City, Calif., and Bob Robinson, Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Jeannie, Central Point, and Gay Robinson, Eagle Point; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1989; a daughter, Donna Brewer, in 1983; and a son, James Brewer, in 1979.

Lillian Mary Higley

Lillian Mary Higley, 76, of Medford, died Sunday (May 23, 1999) at her home. A private service will be held. Inurnment will be in Riverview Heights Cemetery in Kennewick, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 236, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Lillian Mary Dart on July 27, 1922, in Barnstaple, England.

In 1945, in England, she married Donald Higley, who died in 1980. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Kennewick.

Mrs. Higley enjoyed knitting and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Staley, Medford; two sisters, Joan Penn, in England, and Audrey Johnston, in Scotland; three grandsons; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, John Higley; and a granddaughter, Julia Dawn Higley.
