Donna Marie Marusa
The funeral Mass for Donna Marie Marusa will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shady Cove. The Rev. William McHugh of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Rogue River will officiate.
Mrs. Marusa, 84, of Eagle Point, died Friday (April 23, 1999) at her home.
She was born Donna Marie Brand on April 1, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio.
On Nov. 20, 1939, in Cleveland, she married Martin Mark Marusa, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from Lemon Grove, Calif.
Mrs. Marusa was a registered nurse. She received her training in Cleveland, and worked at Mercy and Grossmont hospitals in San Diego, and most recently at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.
She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed traveling through the United States.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, David Martin, Santa Fe, N.M., and William Edward, Spring Valley, Calif.; two daughters, Marthajane Christensen, Alsea, and Linda Rose Stewart, Ramona, Calif.; a brother, Benjamin H. Brand Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Diane V. Peterson
Diane V. Peterson, 66, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (April 21, 1999) at her home. Celebrations of life will be held in Minneapolis, Minn., and Carlsbad, Calif.

She was born Diane Vermilyea on Jan. 12, 1933, in Omaha, Neb. She attended school in Carlsbad, Calif. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at California State University at Chico and a master's degree in English literature at the University of Minnesota.
Mrs. Peterson lived in Minneapolis for 31 years. She lived in Phoenix for eight years.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ashland.
Mrs. Peterson enjoyed reading, sports, live theater and opera.
Survivors include a daughter, Viva Lehman; two sons, Duncan and Nicholas Connel; stepchildren Jeremiah Peterson and Sarah Zacher, all of Minneapolis; four sisters, Joy Stewart, Phoenix, Gloria Freeman, Coronado, Calif., Laurel Cortes, Riverside, Calif., and Natalie Vermilyea, Bangor, Maine; three brothers, Scott Vermilyea, Big Bend, Calif.; and Gary and David Vermilyea, both San Diego; eight grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Bryan Peterson, in 1989.

`Bill' F. Patterson
Friends of William "Bill" F. Patterson will gather at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Sally's Kitchen, 515 S. Riverside Ave., Medford.
Mr. Patterson, 69, of Medford, died April 10, 1999, at his home.

Joseph T. Lopresti
The memorial service for Joseph Thomas Lopresti will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in Pioneer Hall, 59 Winburn Way, Ashland. A vegetarian (meatless/eggless) potluck is planned. Contact Lynn at 552-0852.
Mr. Lopresti, 75, of Ashland, died April 5, 1999, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to a drug and alcohol treatment center of choice.
He was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Tampa, Fla. At the age of 10 he moved to New York, where he was raised.
Mr. Lopresti was an actor and dancer in the 1950s. He later owned and operated an antique store in San Clemente, Calif. He moved to Ashland in 1991, where he continued dealing in antiques.
Survivors include two daughters, Ana Lopresti, Ashland, and Trina Lopresti, Portland; a son, Peter, Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Douglas H. Lawrence
Douglas Howard Lawrence, 81, of Medford, died Tuesday (April 20, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Feb. 1, 1918, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada.
On June 19, 1965, in Hillsboro, Calif., he married Mary Brown, who survives. He moved here one week ago from Palo Alto, Calif.
Mr. Lawrence earned a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Washington. He served as a commissioned clinical psychologist and statistician in the Army Air Force aviation psychology program from 1944 to 1946.
He earned a doctorate in psychology from Yale in 1948.
Mr. Lawrence went to Stanford in 1949, became a full professor in 1956 and professor emeritus in 1977. He studied animals and how they perceive their environments.
Mr. Lawrence enjoyed golf, his vegetable garden, playing Go and building inlaid furniture.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a brother, William, Bainbridge Island, Wash.

Verne Leon Forward
Private interment for Verne Leon Forward will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Forward, 76, of Ashland, died Saturday, April 24, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Colwich, Kansas, to George R. and Flossie (Demming) Forward. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Forward owned and operated Verne's 66 Service Station in Phoenix, Ariz., before moving to Ashland in 1972. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors and the company of close friends.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Forward and William Johansen, Fresno, Calif, Ron Forward, Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

C. Archie Brown
C. Archie Brown, 81, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 21, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service is planned.
He was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Minneapolis.
Mr. Brown was an assistant manager with Montgomery Wards in Medford from 1948 to 1949, and worked in retail sales for many years.
Mr. Brown was an independent business consultant from 1960 to 1998. He was also a private pilot for over 15 years, flying all over the United States, Canada and Mexico in his consulting business. He had recently returned to Medford from California.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in Guam.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence, Medford, Kirtland, Mount Shasta, Calif., and Peter, Poolesville, Maryland; three daughters, Kit Davitz, Santa Rosa, Calif., Laurie Rea and Amanda Freeman, both Roseville, Calif.; a sister, Nancy Brett, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay, in 1994; and by three brothers.
Florence Ann Cayford
The memorial service for Florence Ann Cayford will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Trail Christian Fellowship. Pastor Rick Booye will officiate.
Mrs. Cayford, 89, of Trail, died Thursday (April 22, 1999) at Hearthstone.

She was born Florence Ann Nelson on Dec. 1, 1909, in Minneapolis. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Southern California in 1962.
Mrs. Cayford was a school secretary with Elk Trail School until her retirement in 1975.
She was a member of Trail Christian Fellowship, and was a foster grandparent in Medford and Shady Cove.
Mrs. Cayford enjoyed arts and crafts and carpentry.
Survivors include a daughter, Meridee Webster, Trail; two sons, Gary Smith, Trail, and Bill Cayford, Columbia Falls, Mont.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Smith, in 1947; her second husband, Raymond Cayford; and a grandson, Jason Cayford.

Dorothy Kenyon Cline
Dorothy Kenyon Cline, 95, of Ashland, died Monday (April 19, 1999) at a Medford foster home. A private memorial service will be held later.

She was born Dorothy Kenyon on March 28, 1904, in Northville, Mich.
On May 31, 1929, in Northville, she married Clifford Cline, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cline worked for UCLA Medical Center until her retirement.
Following her retirement, she moved to Laguna Beach, Calif., where she volunteered as a dresser for 30 years with the Pageant of the Masters.
She enjoyed animals and walking. She chose never to have a driver's license.
Mrs. Cline was a student of the Church of Religious Science.
Survivors include a nephew, Richard Ambler, Northville, Mich; and two great-nieces, Leslie Kendall, Ashland, and Lynn Kendall, Fort Collins, Colo.
