Patricia Louise Monroe

The memorial service for Patricia Louise Monroe will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Monroe, 65, formerly of Medford, died Dec. 28, 1998, in Hillsboro, from complications of cancer. Her home was in Portland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation of Oregon, 1410 S.W. Morrison, Suite 760, Portland, OR 97205.

She was born July 10, 1933, in Medford, a daughter of Art and Bertha Guches. She was a descendant of Oregon pioneer Jesse Applegate.

Mrs. Monroe attended Medford and Phoenix high schools.

On Dec. 8, 1951, in Reno, Nev., she married L. Gerald Monroe, who survives.

They moved to Portland in 1975 from Ohio.

Mrs. Monroe enjoyed camping and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Gerald L., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; three daughters, Cathryn Smith, Cuyahoga Falls, and Carol DeCintio and Donna Lynn Mitchell, both Kent, Ohio; two sisters, Donna, Medford, and Betty Sparks, Estacada; two brothers, Alvin Guches and Merle Guches, both Medford; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements: Omega Funeral & Cremation Service, Portland.

W. Richard Erb

The graveside service for W. Richard Erb will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville.

A memorial service will be held later in Medford.

Mr. Erb, 50, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (Jan. 2, 1999) at the Veteran's Medical Center in Portland of heart failure while awaiting an organ transplant.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Dads Program, c/o OnTrack Inc., 221 W. Main St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Sept. 8, 1948, in Lander, Wyo. He attended Oregon schools, primarily in Prineville. He also attended Rogue Community College in Medford.

Mr. Erb was employed in home construction and the woodworking industries. For the past six years he had been employed as a certified alcohol and drug counselor for OnTrack Inc. in Medford.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1970, during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Erb enjoyed outdoor activities, including hiking and fishing, and was interested in eclectic studies, particularly Judaism and Native American studies.

Survivors include his fiancee, Judith Kurinsky, Jacksonville; two daughters, Jody, Prineville, and Brandy, Lebanon; two sons, Miles, Prineville, and Jason, Syracuse, N.Y.; his mother, Millicent Erb, Prineville; two sisters, Jennifer Jenkins, Bemidji, Minn., and Debra Erb, Prineville; a brother, Stephen, Prineville; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday at Autumn Funerals, 3000 S. Highway 97, Redmond.

Joyce M. Ross

The funeral for Joyce M. Ross will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Thomas Ledington of Washington will officiate.

Mrs. Ross, 76, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 3, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501, or Providence Community Health Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Joyce M. Robinson on June 2, 1922, in San Francisco. She graduated from George Washington High School and attended San Francisco Junior College.

On May 1, 1943, in Reno, Nev., she married Eli Ross, who died in 1989. They moved to Bonanza, and then on to Klamath Falls. In 1972, they moved to Medford.

Mrs. Ross worked for many years in the insurance field. She was a claims secretary for G.A.B. Business Services, retiring in 1997.

She enjoyed bowling, walking, gardening and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Lee S., Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Jeanne Marie Fortes, Fremont, Calif.; a brother, Warren Robinson, San Carlos, Calif.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

Lura Hull

The memorial service for Lura Hull will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Christian Church in Central Point. The Rev. Darold Hutsell of Hope Christian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Hull, 83, of Central Point, died Saturday (Jan. 2, 1999) in Medford.

She was born Lura M. Watkins on Sept. 4, 1915, in Hepler, Kan.

In 1936, in Fort Scott, Kan., she married Vance Hull, who died in 1980. They moved to California in 1940.

Mrs. Hull moved to Central Point in 1988 to live with her sister, Wilma Guss, who survives.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

John F. Zimmerlee

The graveside service for John Franklin Zimmerlee will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Cemetery in Shady Cove. The Rev. Jim Irwin will officiate.

Mr. Zimmerlee, 77, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 31, 1998) at his home.

He was born on March 19, 1921 in Flora, Oregon, and lived 75 years in the Rogue Valley.

On Oct. 22, 1940, in Shady Cove, Mr. Zimmerlee married Edna Sizemore, who survives.

He was a self-employed log truck driver and was also a rancher for almost 50 years. He loved horses and team roping, cow penning and was a member of the Rogue Valley Range Riders. He also enjoying hunting, trap shooting, fishing, boxing and baseball. He served in World War II in the Philippines. He was a Christian.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Dawn Barham, Medford, Charlotte Ayers, Eagle Point, and Teresa Zimmerlee, Portland; a son, John Zimmlee, Eagle Point; fifteen grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Zimmerlee, of Paradise, Calif.; and three sisters, Janet Kimmell, Eagle Point, Christine Cornelius, Mount Shasta, Calif., and Carrie O'Brian, Medford. Mr. Zimmerlee was preceded in death by daughter Juanita Copley; two brothers, Richard and Basil Zimmerlee; and both parents.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Dorothy I. Perl

The memorial service for Dorothy Irene Perl will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Perl Funeral Service-Siskiyou Chapel. The Rev. John Braund of First Presbyterian Church, Phoenix, will officiate. Interment will be at Siskiyou Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Perl, 92, died Friday (Jan. 1, 1999) at her home.

She was born Nov. 14, 1906 in Grants Pass, a daughter of Charles L. and Edna Irene Brown.

She grew up in Portland, where she attended Kenton Grammar School. The family moved to Medford in 1921. Mrs. Perl attended Medford High School, where she was art editor of the high school annual, the Crater.

She attended the University of Oregon for two years, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

On Nov. 17, 1928, in Roseburg, she married William Frank Perl, who died June 5, 1984. Mr. Perl's father founded Perl Funeral Home in 1908.

Mrs. Perl enjoyed traveling throughout the world. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the Nile, and the Rogue Valley Country Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Marianne Zundel, Medford; a son, William Jr., Lakeside; a sister, Helen Durham, West Port, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Donald and Richard Brown.

Nash Burrescia

The graveside service for Nash Burrescia will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Burrescia, 83, of Central Point, died Dec. 27, 1998 at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Medford Chapter, 6915 S.W. Macadam No. 130, Portland, OR 97219, or to the Parkinson's Disease Association, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Suite 2200, Portland, OR 97201.

He was born April 11, 1915, in Sopris, Colo.

On Nov. 21, 1951, in Quartzsite, Ariz., he married Dorothy Oyler, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1994.

Mr. Burrescia owned and operated a service station for many years in Chico, Calif., before his retirement.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed watching baseball.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four children, two brothers, three sisters and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Harold T. Bumpus

The memorial service for Harold Truman Bumpus will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Members of Central Point Masonic Lodge number 135, A.F.& A.M., will officiate.

Mr. Bumpus, 78, died Monday (Dec. 28, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Southern Oregon Chapter, 229 W. Main St., Suite E., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1920 in Bartholomew County, Ind.

On March 21, 1941, he married Dorothy Jean Crider, who died Oct. 18, 1994. They moved to the Rogue Valley from California in 1975.

Mr. Bumpus owned his own plumbing company.

He was a member of Ashland Masonic Lodge number 23, A.F.&A.M., Siskiyou chapter 21 Royal Arch Masons, the Cryptic Masons of Oregon Table Rock Council No. 15, and a master mason of the Blue Lodge. He also was a member of Rotary, the Royal Order of Jesters, and a member of the Supreme Council of M.O.V.P.E.R.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice Swindell, Van Nuys, Calif., Nancy Dussich, Carmel, Ind., and Fran Rosler, Lakewood, Calif.; a sister, Charlotte Meeks, Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
