William H. Smith

The graveside service for William H. Smith will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodville Cemetery in Rogue River. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rogue Valley Community Church, 623 Pine St., Rogue River. The Rev. Dan O'Donell will officiate at both services.

Mr. Smith, 74, of Rogue River, died Wednesday (Dec. 2, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Community Church Memorial Fund, 623 Pine St., Rogue River, OR 97537 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born April 12, 1924 in Vineland, N.J.

On July 8, 1950, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Gloria Holmes, who survives.

Mr. Smith served in both World War II and the Korean War. He joined the Marine Corps in 1943 and retired as a gunnery sergeant in 1963.

In 1968 he moved to Grants Pass from Santa Ana, Calif.

Mr. Smith was a TV technician with Sears until his retirement in 1988.

He was a member of the Rogue Valley Community Church.

Mr. Smith was an avid fisherman.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Paul Smith, Rogue River; three daughters, Debbie Berntson and Janis Brotherton, both Rogue River, and Deanna Smith, Apache Junction, Ariz.; a sister, Laurajean Zauner, Vineland, N.J.; a brother, James Smith, Brick, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

June D. Bromstead

Friends and family of June Delores Bromstead will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at 333 Mountain View Road, No. 99, Talent. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Bromstead, 78, of Talent, died Thursday (Dec. 3, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Advocacy Center, 816 West 10th St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born June Delores Wise on June 14, 1920, in Berkeley, Calif.

On June 11, 1960, in Palo Alto, Calif., she married John B. Bromstead, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Huntington Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Bromstead was a restaurant manager in the San Jose area for several years, retiring in 1965.

She enjoyed crafts and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to her spouse, include a daughter, Carol Evans, Medford; and a son, Ronald Rogers, Las Vegas, Nev.; five grand-children; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Wise, in 1965.

Randy W. Palmer

Randy W. Palmer, 41, of Huntington, formerly of Baker City and Butte Falls, died Sunday (Nov. 29, 1998) in Huntington. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made the the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon Chapter, 1650 N. W. Front Ave., Suite 190, Portland, OR 97209.

He was born Aug. 16, 1957, in Baker City. He received his education at Corvallis, La Grande, Chiloquin and Butte Falls, and graduated from Prineville High School in 1975.

Mr. Palmer was employed in mobile home manufacturing by Champion Mobile Home in Weiser, Idaho.

He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years.

Mr. Palmer enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Shawn, in California; his parents, Orin & Betty Palmer, John Day; three brothers, Jerry, Lincoln City; David, Burley, Idaho; and Joseph, Germany.

Arrangements: Coles-Strommer-Monroe Funeral Home, Baker City.

Alfred R. Boileau Jr.

Alfred R. Boileau Jr., 65, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 27, 1998) at the Ashland Community Hospital. A private service is planned. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born March 22, 1933, in Klamath Falls.

Mr. Boileau graduated from Medford High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Boileau lived in Long Beach, Calif., for five years before returning to the Rogue Valley in 1968.

For the past 30 years he was disabled with Parkinson's disease.

He enjoyed painting and other artistic activities.

Survivors include two sisters, Janet Thompson, Medford, and Hazel Sheehan, Reading, Pa.; and his stepmother, Mabel Boileau, Medford.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

David W. Richards

The graveside service for David Woodrow Richards will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Turlock Memorial Park, Turlock, Calif. Turlock Lodge No. 395 Free and Accepted Masons will officiate. Interment will be in Turlock Memorial Park.

Mr. Richards, 82, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 2, 1998) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Steinman.

Mr. Richards was a railroad engineer for Western Pacific Railroad.

He was a life member of Masonic Lodge No. 103 in Oroville, Calif., the Elks Lodge in Elko, Nev., and the Moose Lodge No. 2101 in Gold Beach.

Survivors include his companion, Constance Schaver, Medford; three daughters, Patricia, Sharon and Davida; a son, Jack Young, in California; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services, Medford.

Faith `Annie' Yowman

The memorial service for Faith "Annie" Anne Yowman will be at 11

a.m. today in First Christian Church, 1900 Crater Lake Ave., Medford. Interment will be in Jacksonville Cemetery.

Faith, 17, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Dec. 1, 1998) from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Douglas County.

She was born Aug. 22, 1981, in Alvin, Texas.

Faith enjoyed monster trucks, writing poetry and animals.

Survivors include her mother, Darlene Yowman, Phoenix; her father and stepmother, Jerry Yowman and Jackie Newby, Central Point; three sisters, Bonnie Yowman and Debbie Yowman, both Phoenix, and Christy Fisher, Central Point; a brother, Eddie Yowman, Phoenix; two stepbrothers, Josh and Chris Newby, Central Point; and her grandmothers, Daisy Kersten, Medford and Rachel Hodges, Fernwood, Miss.

Friends may pay their respects at 10 a.m. today at the church.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Faith Anne Yowman

The memorial service for Faith Anne Yowman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church, 1900 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.

Faith, 17, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 1, 1998) from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Douglas County.

Friends may pay their respects at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Roger George Ellis

The memorial service for Roger George Ellis will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hope Presbyterian Church, 515 Broadway, Rogue River. Pastor Robert Greathouse will officiate.

Mr. Ellis, 80, of Rogue River, died Nov. 25, 1998, at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, P.O. Box 356, Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born May 10, 1918, in Mesa, Ariz.

On Oct. 1, 1950, in Lafayette, Calif., he married Marilyn Davis, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1988 from San Rafael, Calif.

Mr. Ellis was a self-employed government contractor, working on military bases throughout the United States.

Mr. Ellis loved music and was a drummer. He formed the Walnut Creek Band with Mickey Riley in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five sons, Gray, Colton, Ore., Gary, Fulton, Mo., Gordon, Washougal, Wash., Mike, Solvang, Calif., and John, Browns Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Elaine Andrus, Davis, Calif., and Jeannie Stjern, Santa Rosa, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives.
