Helen M. Fitzsimmons

Helen Maunders Fitzsimmons, 80, of Medford, died Thursday (June 4, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service is planned.

She was born Helen Maunders on March 29, 1918, in Virgil, S.D.

On June 16, 1948, in Redding, Calif., she married Douglas Fitzsimmons, who survives.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 50 years.

A cook, for many years she ran the cafeteria at Southern Oregon Sales (SOS) packing house in Medford. In her earlier years, she worked at Eaton's Dinner House and Bateman's Restaurant in Medford and Mon Desir Dining Inn in Central Point.

She enjoyed writing poetry, rescuing animals, and tending her rose garden.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Douglas,

Yreka, Calif., and Dennis Wyatt, San Mateo, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela Fitzsimmons, Redlands, Calif.; a sister, Grace Paul, Medford; a brother, Darrell Maunders, Butte, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Cherry Ann Eddy

The memorial service for Cherry Ann Eddy will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the West Main Church of Christ, Medford. Lance Lake will officiate.

Mrs. Eddy, 71, of Gold Hill, died Tuesday (June 2, 1998) at her home.

She was born Cherry Ann Pelot on June 22, 1926, in Los Angeles.

On June 24, 1945, she married Frank Eldon Eddy, who died in October 1987.

Mrs. Eddy was a longtime resident of Gold Hill.

She enjoyed crafts and was active in league bowling for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Mike, Central Point, and Mark, Whittier, Calif.; a daughter, Patty Costa, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; a brother, Jim Pelot, Santa Maria, Calif.; a sister, Betty Kline, McKinleyville, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Robertson; and two brothers, Pat and Ed Pelot.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Grover H. LeBaron

The funeral for Grover Hunt LeBaron will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hillcrest Chapel. Reader Carol Kellinger, of Ashland Church of Christ, Scientist, will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. LeBaron, 83, of Ruch, died Friday (June 5, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ, Scientist, 100 Windsor Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

Mr. LeBaron was born April 18, 1915, in Mesa, Ariz.

He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1943 from Idaho.

Mr. LeBaron, a carpenter, worked in Jackson County for many years, and earlier worked on the Grand Coulee Dam. For 10 years he worked for the Jackson County Public Works Department.

He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his companion, Dee Daniel, Ruch; three sons, Clifford T., and Kirby L., both Medford; a daughter, Paula L. LeBaron, Blue Springs, Mo.; a brother, Owen, Boise, Idaho; and two sisters, Frances Hoffman, Portland, and Vida McClain, Tygh Valley.

A son, Lucien, and a daughter, Virginia McCarvel, preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Alce B. Lyons

Alce Benny Lyons, 57, of Applegate, died Saturday (June 6, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.

Mr. Lyons was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Fort Gibson, Okla. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1980 from California.

On Oct. 29, 1994, in Ruch, he married Deborah Devine, who survives.

He was a self-employed dog breeder.

Mr. Lyons was a member of Ruch Community Church and enjoyed fishing and hiking.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Susie, Deanne, and Starla; three brothers; and three sisters. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Violet W. Ayres

The funeral for Violet W. Ayres will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou Chapel. The Rev. George Nye of Eastwood Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Ayres, 80, of Medford, died Friday (June 5, 1998) at Hearthstone.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hearthstone HEART Team, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Violet Winifred Austin on Aug. 22, 1917, in Greve, Mont. The family moved to the Rogue Valley in the 1920s and she attended Ashland schools.

On May 29, 1943, in Hanford, Calif., she married Aaron J. Ayres, who died Jan. 15, 1998.

From 1960 to 1970 she was a sewing instructor and the author of the book "Simplified Stretch Sewing."

Mrs. Ayres, a cosmetician, owned and operated Violet's Beauty Shop from 1970 to 1997.

She was active in several bowling leagues and enjoyed eating out. She was a life member of the Star Promenaders square dance club.

Survivors include twin daughters, Judy Morris, Medford, and Jacque Brown, Eugene; three brothers, Elwin Austin and Orin Austin, both Medford, and Bob Austin, Yreka, Calif.; a sister, Rose Riner, Yucaipa, Calif.; and two granddaughters. A sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services.

Joe B. Stovall

The graveside service for Joe B. Stovall will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor Jeff Prosise of Keeneway Church of Christ will officiate.

Mr. Stovall, 85, of Medford, died Thursday (June 4, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Dill City, Okla.

On July 17, 1934, in Dill City, he married Clara Reynolds, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1936.

Mr. Stovall was a truck driver for Faber's Fuel and Supply in Medford for a number of years.

A member of Keeneway Church of Christ since 1936, he enjoyed gardening, walking, and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Charlotte Crowson, Ashland, and Alma Stevens and Marion Zook, both Medford; a brother, Jack, Fresno, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Brison; a sister; and a brother preceded him in death.

Friends may pay their respects from noon to 4 p.m. today at the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel.

Larry E. Wise

The memorial service for Larry Eugene Wise will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Lou Schneider will officiate.

Mr. Wise, 50, of Medford, died Friday (June 5, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 10, 1947, in Shenandoah, Iowa.

On Oct. 23, 1970, in Spring Valley, Calif., he married Kathleen Winkler, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley from Eugene in 1994.

Mr. Wise, a registered nurse, was at Scared Heart Medical Center in Eugene, then at Rogue Valley Medical Center the last four years.

He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Larry II, Medford, and Wayne, Dixon, Calif.; his father, Wilbur White, Ukiah, Calif.; three brothers, Dennie White, Spokane, Wash., Steven White, Monterey, Calif., and Terry White, Hopland, Calif.; a sister, Beverly White, Fort Bragg, Calif.; and four grandchildren. His mother, Betty White, preceded him in death.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, 550 Business Park Drive, Medford.

Daniel D. Silva

The funeral for Daniel D. Silva will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Central Valley Chapel, Central Point. Pastor Rodney Howell of the Central Neighborhood Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Silva, 56, of Medford, died Wednesday (June 3, 1998) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland.

He was born May 4, 1942, in Pomona, Calif.

On June 23, 1961, in Tulare, Calif., he married Elnora "Sue" Beesley, who survives.

Mr. Silva was a finish carpenter for several construction companies in California before moving to Oregon. In Salem, he worked for the Department of Transportation. After moving to the Rogue Valley in 1978, he was employed by Noah's World of Water.

Mr. Silva was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed bass fishing, bird watching, rafting and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Dan Jr., of Medford; two daughters, Elizabeth McBeth, Central Point, and Bridget Blackard, San Dimas, Calif.; four brothers, James, Gilbert and Richard, all Tulare, and Joe, Lancaster, Calif.; three sisters, Rosalie Silva, Janet Hicks, and Loretta Parker, all Tulare; and five grandchildren. A brother, Albert, preceded him in death.

Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.
