Everett Henry McGee

The graveside service for Everett H. McGee will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland. Pastor Jim Larsen of the Christian Church of Ashland will officiate. A light lunch and sharing time will be at noon at the Christian Church of Ashland, corner of Second and B Streets. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church of Ashland.

Mr. McGee, 93, of Ashland, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland.

He was born July 27, 1909 in Ashland to James H. McGee and the former Olive Wing, and lived here throughout his lifetime. He married Donzella Neill on June 20, 1931 in Ashland. She preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 1995.

Mr. McGee became a grocer after operating the Lake of the Woods Store one summer, and purchased the East Side Grocery on the corner of Iowa and Morse Streets in Ashland. In 1942, he built the Market Basket building on the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Beach Street, and with his brother-in-law, Dick Neill, operated that store for several years. In the early 1950s, he purchased the Fridegar Building located just below the Old Ashland Armory between Pioneer and Oak Street and with Dick Neill operated that store until his retirement.

In 1931, Mr. McGee became a Christian and was baptized in the old Christian Church. In 1936, Everett and Donzella entered the Northwest Christian College in Eugene and graduated in 1940. In 1942, he became minister of the Phoenix, Ore. Church of Christ and ministered there for 10 years. Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Raymond and Vernon.

Those who wish may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory.

Iris Christel Tyner

The memorial service for Iris Christel Tyner will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at First Church of the Nazarene, 1974 E. McAndrews Rd., Medford. Joe McManhan, director of pastoral care, Asante, will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions for breast cancer awareness and research may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, 2825 E. Barnett Rd., Medford, Ore. 97504.

Iris Christel Tyner, 62, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at her home.

She was born Dec. 9, 1940 in Berlin, Germany. She worked as a phlebotomist at a military hospital in Germany before coming to the United States in 1965. She attained her U.S. citizenship and continued her health care education, becoming a certified nurses assistant, licensed practical nurse and following graduation from SOSC in Ashland in 1978, a registered nurse. She began her career at Rogue Valley Medical Center in 1979, where she eventually became director of patient services. Her current position was that of critical care unit manager.

On Dec. 31, 1965 in Albany, Ga., she married W. T. (Wayne) Tyner, whom she had met in Germany. They moved to Ashland in 1970 and built a home on the Greensprings, where they moved in 1971.

Survivors include three daughters, Corina Noah of Frederick, Md.; Patricia Gutschmidt of Jamestown, N.D.; and Pamela Taylor of Frederick, Md.; one brother, Peter Friedrichs of Schwedt, Germany; one sister, Sylvia Hoffman of Frankfurt, Germany; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild. Her husband, Wayne, preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2000.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Mildred D. Long
Mildred D. Long, 87, of Medford, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Margaret Cochran

Margaret Cochran, 83, of Phoenix, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at her residence. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Warren "Rod" Roderick

Warren "Rod" Roderick, 81, of Ashland, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 at Heartstone Manor, Medford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Horace E. Wilds

Horace E. Wilds, 91, of Talent, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Ashland Community Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Caroline Marie Langlois

The graveside service for Caroline Marie Langlois will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. The Rev. Joseph Betschart of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church will officiate.

Caroline Marie Langlois, 88, of Ashland, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 at Skylark Assisted Living, Ashland.

Mrs. Langlois was born to Louis and Anna (Wagner) Schweikl, May 19, 1914 in Park Falls, Wisc. In 1931, she married Leo Langlois in Park Falls. They lived in Milwaukee, Wisc. and moved to Ashland in 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Langlois were owners of the Emigrant Lake Cafe for seven years before it was moved to make way for the Emigrant Lake recreation area.

Mrs. Langlois was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and was past president of the Ashland Senior Club.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tony DeMartini of Ashland; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Leo, preceded her in death in 1988; three brothers also preceded her.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Kathleen Still

Kathleen Still, 83, of Ashland, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at her residence. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Joshua Lyle Fichtner

Joshua Lyle Fichtner, 3 months, of Gold Hill died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at Doernbecher's Children's' Hospital Portland, Ore. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at Trail Christian Fellowship, 18881 Hwy. 62, Eagle Point. Pastor Doug Higuera will officiate. A Graveside service and interment will follow at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Parents desire to purchase a brick with Joshua's name as a fundraiser at Doernbecher's Children's Hospital: The Joshua Fichtner Fund c/o Rogue Federal Credit Union, 1123 Royal Ave., Medford, Ore. 97504.

Joshua, son of Wesley and Suzanne (Olson) Fichtner, was born Sept. 18, 2002 at Doernbecher's.

Joshua will be missed by: his parents, Wesley and Suzanne Fichtner of Gold Hill; grandparents, William and Jan Olson of Medford, E. Richard Fichtner of Eagle Point and Larry and Mary Neel of Sams Valley; great grandparents, Lyle and Elmer Sharp of Medford, Cecilia Fichtner of Medford and Vonnie Fichtner of Medford; aunts and uncles, William Olson, Jr., Francisco and Karen Zuniga, Jeremy and Kaiti McIntosh, Jason and Yronda Neel, Ian and Stacy McIntosh, David Neel and Adam and Jolene Williams; sisters, Jasmine and Alexis of Sams Valley, Ore.

Arrangements are held by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Jeffrey Craig Martin

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at Havurah Shir Haddash Synagogue in Ashland for Jeffrey Craig Martin, who died Dec. 24, 2002 at age 48.

Mr. Martin was born Jan. 11, 1954 to Alene and Virgil Martin. He grew up in Portland and Fairview, Ore., graduating from Reynolds High School.

Mr. Martin was a self-employed auto wholesaler for the past 15 years. He moved to Ashland in 1999 and worked as a development assistant and consultant.

He enjoyed salmon fishing in Alaska and rafting the Rogue River.

Survivors include his mother; stepfather, Len Edwards; uncle, Bill Martin of Central Point; cousin, John Schleining of Ashland; extended family and friends. His father passed away in 1994.
