Zastoupil
Jean L. (Emogene) Zastoupil, 86, of McMinnville, formerly of Woodburn, died Nov. 1, 2006.
Born March 3, 1920 in Anna, Texas, she moved with her family to Oregon in 1935. She graduated from Woodburn High School in 1936.
She married
Philip Zastoupil on Oct. 31, 1939 and the couple lived in Woodburn. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1996.
She enjoyed reading, painting, writing, and her family. She moved to McMinnville several years ago.
She is survived by her sons, David of Lebanon, Ladd of Medford, Lorin of Leaburg, and Daniel of Wasaw, Wis.; and five grandchildren.
A private service will be held at Belle Passi Memorial Mausoleum, Woodburn. Remembrances may be made to the Life Care Center in McMinnville.
Bantly
Van Hawkins Bantly, 88, of Woodburn, died April 9, 2008.
Born June 12, 1919 in Clinton, Mo., he had lived in California and Canby for several years before retiring and coming to Woodburn 10 years ago.
He is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had worked in the supply department for Union Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing, traveling, theater, camping, horseshoes and lawn bowling.
He was married
to Julia Melzer on Dec. 1, 1945 in New York City. She preceded him in death in 2006.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Burnett of Oakland, Calif., Trisha Davis of Sonora, Calif., Barbara Busch of Lyons; brothers, Rev. Marvin Van Cleave of San Antonio, Texas, John Bantly of Concord, Calif., Jim Bantly of Norco, Calif.; sister, Greta Head of Escalone, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by granddaughter, Kristin in 2007.
A graveside service with military honors was held April 16 at Willamette National cemetery. A celebration of life followed at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Ballweber
Arnie Ballweber, 69, of Aurora, died April 17, 2008.
Born Feb. 1, 1939 in Mt. Angel, he graduated from Silverton High School and was the football running back. He was also the "Yell King."
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Reserves and then started a cleaning service in the Woodburn/Monitor area. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the American Legion Canby Post No. 01222, and the Woodburn Eagles Lodge No. 3284.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather Sickler of Miami Beach, Fla., Jessica Opitz of Silverton; brothers, Donald of Albany, James (Chip) of Hubbard, Richard of Portland, Patrick (Pat) of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters, Florence Fleskes of Portland and Jeanne Jackson of Silverton.
A private family memorial was held April 20. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life April 24 at 2 p.m. at the Woodburn Eagles Lodge, 371 S. Pacific Hwy.

Joncich
Sarabelle I. Joncich, 88, of Woodburn, died April 19, 2008.
Born April 14, 1920 in Redondo Beach, Calif., she was a longtime resident of San Pedro, Calif. where she had worked as a production supervisor for Lido Knitting Mills in Torrence, Calif., and moved to Woodburn in 2001.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.
Her turkey dinners, special cakes and "dunkers" were a delight for family and friends. She has been one of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1934. She attended Aurora Kingdom Hall.
A highlight in her life was her special friendship with Honey, her cockatiel.
She was married
to Michael Joncich. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by niece and nephew, Joycelee and Richard Ullery of Woodburn; and many extended nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in California.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. April 26 at the Kindom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Aurora.

Colvin
Dorothy L. Colvin (Jeskey), 97, of Mt. Angel, died April 17, 2008.
Born March 26, 1911 in Ophir, Calif., she came to Aurora at age 10 and lived in Aurora and Woodburn before moving to Mt. Angel one year ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of Aurora Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Maplewood Grange and was active with the Cascade Singers and Greeters at Cascade Park Retirement Community in Woodburn.
She was married
to Henry Colvin on Oct. 29, 1929 in Salem. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She is survived by son, Ward Colvin of Portland, daughters, Doris Blakeley of Woodburn, Marilyn Fisher of Hubbard, Lucille Bailey of Huddleston, Va.; step-daughter Perle Haek of Aberdeen, Wash.; sister, Eleanor Bonn of Mt. Angel; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 24 at the Aurora Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at the Aurora Community cemetery. Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Nagl
Ruth Nagl (Lewis), 82, of Woodburn, died April 19, 2008.
Born Aug. 10, 1925 in Pendleton, she graduated from Pendleton High School, moved to Portland and attended nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital where she had worked as a surgical nurse.
She moved to Aurora and was founder of Nagl Floor Coverings in 1958. She moved to Woodburn six years ago. She enjoyed gardening and finches.
She is survived by sons, Phillip Nagl of Alaska and Bruce Nagl of Aurora; daughter, Carey Nagl of New York, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Carol.
Services will be private.

Munson
Craig Munson, 53, of Silverton, died April 17, 2008.
Born April 20, 1954 in Menomonie, Wis., he grew up in West Linn through his high school years and graduated from West Linn High School in 1972. He lived in Oregon City and settled in Silverton with his wife, Esmeralda.
He worked as a contractor and a developer. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fishing, cross country skiing, flying and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He was a member of the Captain Morgan Golf League, where he enjoyed golfing with life-long friends.
He is survived by his wife, Esmeralda; daughter, Torrey Munson; son, Hunter Munson; mom, Adele Munson; siblings, Brian, Jurt, Eric, Reed and Drew Munson, Kris Carroll, Marylee Oddo and Marylinn Johnson; and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 26 at the Silverton United Methodist Church with a reception following.
Lienkaemper
Elizabeth "Betty" Lienkaemper, 92, of Philomath, died April 10, 2008.
Born Oct. 14, 1915 in Nanty-Glo, Penn., she grew up in Nanty-Glo and graduated from high school there in 1933.
She attended both Bloomsburg and Indiana State Teachers Colleges before returning to Nanty-Glo where she learned bookkeeping in the Hiseley Coal company store. She was married
to Sam Laporte in 1941 and after his death, moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1944. She was then married
to George Lienkaemper in 1945.
When her husband's career as a school administrator progressed, she moved from Riddle to Maupin. In 1952 the family moved to Bandon and in 1953 she returned to college at Oregon College of Education in Monmouth to earn her bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate. During a career of over 20 years, she taught elementary school in Coquille, Wilkes, Welches and Estacada.
In 1957, the family moved to the Mt. Hood area, living in the towns of Brightwood, Rhododendron, and Welches over the next 17 years. She loved living in the mountains and during summer breaks from teaching at Welches and Estacada she kept books and managed the front desk at Bowman's Mt. Hood Golf Club.
After retirement, she and her husband lived in Portland for four years before moving to Woodburn Senior Estates in 1978.
She enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing and learned word processing on the personal computer. She was a skilled practitioner of the fabric arts.
She was a hand weaver; she crocheted, braided wool rugs and sewed cathedral window coverlets and necktie vests.
She loved to travel and she and her husband made trips to Australia, Hong Kong, the U.S.S.R. and several visits to Europe.
In 1995, she moved to Corvallis to live with her son. She moved to Quail Run Assisted Living and then to His House Adult Foster Care.
She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, J. Milton Carlisle, Luther Carlisle, Charles Carlisle, and Jim Carlisle, and sister, Catherine Cogan.
She is survived by son, George Luenkaemper of Corvallis; and sister, Nancy Polski of Albuquerque, N.M.
No services will be held.
