Christoff
Jane Ellen Christoff, 52, died Dec. 21, 2010. She was born on April 12, 1948, to Florence H. (Craig) Zepernick and Elmer R. Zepernick on a farm near Green Springs, Ohio.
She attended Green Springs School, graduating in 1966.
An honor student, she was a member of the National Honor Society, took part in Buckeye Girls State program and participated in after-school sports through the Girls Athletic Association.
She was active in band, chorus, various school and community clubs and church youth group.
She married Dave Christoff, of Willard, Ohio, on March 11, 1967. The couple moved to Woodburn in 1968, where they raised their two children.
She was known for her love and acceptance of people. Many of her children’s friends treated her as their honorary mom.
She touched the lives of many of them as a kindergarten teacher in the Woodburn Christian Kindergarten held at the Woodburn Assemblies of God Church.
She later worked as a librarian’s assistant at Woodburn Middle School.
She and her husband supported many community youth activities. After she left the school district, she worked as office manager at Hallmark Properties, which she owned with her husband Dave.
She belonged to the Woodburn Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, was active in the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce, served on the Woodburn Livability Committee and was active in the Relay for Life.
Her many interests included reading, flower gardening, collecting hummingbird memorabilia, scrapbooking and her passion was her family and God.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Dave Christoff, son Craig Christoff and daughter Melissa Bible, all of Woodburn; sisters Jeanne Cleveland and Beth Butzin of Green Springs, Ohio, and Ruthann Audritsh of Woodburn; brother Kenneth Zepernick of Green Springs, Ohio; and two granddaughters.
She was interred in a private family service at Adams cemetery on Christmas Eve. A celebration of life for Jane Christoff will be Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Mid-Valley Community Church, 591 Gatch St. in Woodburn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jane E. Christoff Memorial Fund at any West Coast Bank branch.

Alvarez Ceballos
Jose Alvarez Ceballos, 76, of Woodburn died on Dec. 24, 2010.
He was born July 6, 1934, in Michoacan, Mexico.
He worked as a farm laborer for NorPac in Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Celia Alvarez, of Woodburn; brother Adan Alvarez, of Keizer; sisters Maria Morfin, Ester Alvarez and Guadalupe Alvarez; children Ernesto Alvarez of Woodburn, Rufino Alcazar and Socoro Alcazar, of California, Edelmira Booth, of Salem and Maria Nosack, Graciela Martinez and Hilda Hernandez, of Beaverton; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jose Alvarez, in 2004.
Visitation hours were on Monday. A rosary service at Cornwell Colonial Chapel was scheduled to be held Tuesday. A funeral mass will be held at noon today, Dec. 29, at St. Luke Catholic Church.
Interment will be at St. Luke Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Galvin
Hazel Galvin, 82, of Woodburn died Feb. 12, 2002 in Tualatin.
Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Norwood, Mo., she was a retail clerk at JC Penney's. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn, Catholic Daughters and Sacred Heart in Portland. She lived in Portland before moving to Woodburn, where she lived for 15 years.
His interests included sewing, cooking and quilting.
She married Robert Galvin Aug. 12, 1950, in Walla Walla, Wash.
Survivors include her Robert Galvin of Woodburn; son, Daryl Blain Ferriel; brother, Bud Saladin, both of Hartville, Mo.; sisters, Rudy Moors of Auburn, Wash., and Emogene Hoy of Swartz Creek, Mich.; two grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 19 in St. Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery, Portland.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Corey
Helen Philyaw Corey, 75, of Woodburn died Feb. 12, 2002.
Born April 24, 1926, in Durham, Calif., she was a business office supervisor for the U.S. Government. She lived in Woodburn for 10 years.
She married Wayne Corey, in New London, Calif.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Cynthia Ann Rotter of Santa Rosa, Calif.; son, Jason Scott Corey of Ontario; sister, Sarah Schooling of Grass Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date in California.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Vivar-Lopez
Ruben Silvino Vivar-Lopez, 52, of Molalla, formerly of Woodburn died Feb. 10, 2002.
Born Nov. 12, 1949, in San Juan Diquiyu, Oaxaca, Mexico, he was an agricultural laborer and nursery worker. He lived in the Woodburn area for 10 years. He was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maria T. Garcia-Cortes; daughters, Elisa Veronica Vivar-Garcia and Xochitl Monica Vivar-Garcia; son, Hugo Vivar-Garcia, all of Molalla; brohters, Francisco Vivar-Lopez and Camerino Vivar-Lopez; sisters, Zoila Vivar-Lopez and Aurora Vivar-Lopez, all of Mexico; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 16 in Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Interment was in San Juan Diquiyu Municipal Cemtery, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Haser
Irvin Adolph Haser, 90, of Woodburn died Feb. 15, 2002 in Salem.
Born April 11, 1911 in Woodworth, N.D. he was a self-employed farmer, farming small grain, beef, pigs and sheep. He moved to Oregon in 1967 and settled in Woodburn 15 years ago.
He married Pearl Rosemore Sept. 30, 1932 in Jamestown, N.D.
He enjoyed golfing, billiards, playing cards, fishing, camping, and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Ardene Phyllis Wear of Woodburn and Sandra Rae Lengkeek of Hazelton, Idaho; son, Douglas Irvin Haser of Belfair, Wash.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment was Feb. 19 at Evergreen Memorial Garden, Vancouver, Wash.
Memorials may be sent to Hope Lutheran Church.
Arrangements by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Haser
Pearl Marie Haser, 92, of Woodburn died Feb. 17, 2002 in Salem.
Born Aug. 17, 1909, in Pingree, N.D., she was an elementary school teacher in North Dakota. She lived in Woodworth, N.D. before moving to Woodburn, where she lived for 15 years. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Her interests included gardening, vegetables, ceramics, knitting, sewing and crafts.
She married Irvin Haser Sept. 30, 1932, in Jamestown, N.D.; he died Feb. 15.
Survivors include her daughter, Ardene Wear of Woodburn; son, Douglas Haser of Belfair, Wash.; daughter, Sandra Rae Lengkeek of Hazelton, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 19 in Hope Lutheran Church, Woodburn. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Garden cemetery, Vancouver, Wash.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.

Hanson
Helen Hanson, 62, of Woodburn died Feb. 17, 2002.
Born March 3, 1939 in St. George, Utah, she graduated from high school in St. George.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a relief society greeter.
She married Ramon Harmon Schmutz in 1955. She later married Edward J. Hanson on Dec. 2, 1978 in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death in September 1998.
She moved to Woodburn in 1966 and worked as a waitress and cook. She owned the Club Cafe in Woodburn until 1991.
She was a member of the Woodburn Eagles and Elks lodges. She enjoyed golfing and quilting.
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Menghini of Reno, Nev., Mitzie Schmutz of Honolulu, Hawaii, Chris Schmutz of Woodburn; sister, Barbara Mountford of St. George, Utah; brothers, Clare L. Reber and Clark L. Reber, both of Santa Clara, Utah, Mac. R. Reber of Hanna, Utah; ; step-children, Larry, Kenneth and Edward Hanson, all of Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, K.C. Menghini.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Woodburn. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation.
Arrangements by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Kent
Mary A. Kent, 78, of Silverton, formerly of Woodburn, died Aug. 18, 2002.
Born Feb. 8, 1924, in Alberta, Canada, he was a homemaker. She was a member of the Silverton Living Waters Church. She lived in Woodburn before moving to Silverton in 1997.
She married Roscoe Kent Oct. 17, 1957, in White Salmon, Wash.; he died in 1987.
Survivors include her sons, Albert, David and Roscoe, all of Salem, and John of Portland; sister, Mabel Johnson of Canada; eight granchildren; and three great-granchildren.
Services are pending at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
