Timothy Jackson
May 27, 1951 - May 27, 2007

Timothy “Tim” Vernon Jackson of Brownsville, Oregon died Sunday. He was born to Robert Vernon and Dorothy Mae (Mulkey) Jackson in Los Angeles, California. Through his life Tim resided in Los Angeles, California, Bison, South Dakota, and Portland, Oregon, and since 1982, he lived in Brownsville.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, backpacking, and vegetable gardening.

He is survived by daughter, Amy Jo Daniels of Estacada; father, Robert Vernon Jackson of Apple Valley, CA; granddaughter, Alexis Faye Daniels of Estacada; Sister, Julia Jackson of San Diego, CA; brothers, Michael Jackson of Los Angeles, CA, Randall Jackson of Bishop, CA, and Philip Jackson. Tim was preceded in death by spouse, Nancy Elaine Jackson; brother, Christopher Jackson; mother, Dorothy Mae Jackson, and grandson, Glenn Jackson Daniels.

Viewing will be Saturday, June 2, from 9 am to 12 pm. Services will follow at 2 pm at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Patricia Ann Craver
Dec. 21, 1956 - April 20, 1999

SWEET HOME - Patricia Ann "Tricia" Craver, 42, of Sweet Home died Tuesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.

She was born in Safford, Ariz., the daughter of Edward and Mary (Sanders) Rivas. She lived in Arizona, Klamath Falls and California.

Mrs. Craver worked as a cashier and clerk for K-Mart in California. In 1998 she moved to Sweet Home, where she worked for Wal Mart.

She enjoyed gardening, cross stitching and being with her family. She was an avid reader and fond of animals.

Surviving are son Gary Rivas of LaHabra, Calif.; mother Mary Gilman of Sweet Home; brothers Phillip Rivas of Sweet Home, Ruben Rivas of Enid, Okla., and Alfred Rivas of La Habra, Calif.; and grandmother Mary Saunders of Safford, Ariz.

Her father died before she did, and sister Mary Katherine "Kathy" Rivas died May 12, 1998.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Highway 20 Church of Christ, with Pastor Dave Redick officiating. Workman & Steckly Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Mae Thomas
December 4, 1925 - April 22, 2007

Dorothy M. (Neal) Thomas, 81, of Sweet Home, died Sunday April 22, 2007 at The Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. She was born in Elmira, OR, the daughter of Elmer and Veleta (Deadman) Neal.

She was a life-long Oregon resident, living in Eugene and later raising her daughter in Sweet Home. She enjoyed hunting all her life. She was already thinking of what tags to put in for next year.

Dorothy is survived by son-in-law, Derrell W. Larsen, Sr.; grandsons, Derrell W. Larsen, Jr., Harold Larsen, and Andrew Larsen; granddaughter, Suzan Sexson; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by daughter, Hazel Larsen; husband, Woodrow W. Thomas; seven brothers, and one sister.

No Services are planned at this date. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

Berenice Kizer
May 29, 1902 - April 20, 1999

Berenice "Grandma B" Kizer, 96, of Albany died Tuesday at Albany General Hospital.

She was born in Camp Creek in rural Lane County to Ranzo and Margaret (Ground) Rust. She grew up in Albany and Brownsville and lived in Oregon all her life.

She was married to Hugh Kizer and Carl Warren, who died earlier.

When Mr. Kizer became ill in 1931, she took over his job driving a dump truck. She continued driving the truck through the mid-1940s, mostly for Linn County Road Maintenance.

She graduated from Open Bible Standard College in Eugene in 1960 and began missionary work for the Hopi and Navajo tribes in Arizona.

While married to Mr. Warren, she lived in Scio, where he owned a garage. She moved to Albany in 1974.

Mrs. Kizer was an active member of the First Assembly of God, where she ministered to others and helped with transportation and meals. She liked being called "Grandma B."

In 1996, she was named Retired Senior Volunteer of the Year.

Surviving are son-in-law Randy Gates of Albany; sisters Mary Lee Brady of Springfield and Della Barrett of Hood River; and grandchildren Randy and Evan Gates and Janice Fortier. There are four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Brother Custer Rust died before Mrs. Kizer and daughter Margaret Gates died June 12, 1998.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, at the Albany First Assembly of God, with Pastor Lew Shelton officiating.

Contributions in Mrs. Kizer's memory may be made to the First Assembly of God or to Home Life of Corvallis, where her handicapped grandson lives. They may be sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore. 97321.

Joseph M. Ropp
April 16, 1918 - April 20, 1999

Joseph M. Ropp, 81, of Albany died Tuesday at home.

He was born in Albany to Daniel and Barbara Ropp and attended Price School. He ran a seed cleaner for more than 50 years and enjoyed his work.

A member of Fairview Mennonite Church, he was known for his friendliness and ability to recognize faces. He was talented in mathematics, especially calculations.

Surviving are sisters Eva Ropp and Anna Mitchell, both of Albany; and 24 nieces and nephews, 67 grandnieces and grandnephews and 42 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Brothers Samuel, Aaron and Daniel Jr. died earlier.

Mr. Ropp's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview Mennonite Church, followed by burial at Fairview Mennonite cemetery. Pastors Al Birky, Dwight Ropp and Rick Showalter will officiate.

Contributions in Mr. Ropp's memory may be made to Fairview Mennonite Church for the Mennonite Central Committee Relief Fund.

Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Eugene A. Sitton
Nov. 28, 1914 - April 19, 1999

Eugene A. Sitton, 84, of Albany died Monday at Heart of the Valley Care Center in Corvallis.

Born in Stonington, Colo., to John and Drucilla (Lappin) Sitton, he lived in Stonington and in Hood River, Tillamook and Albany as a child. He graduated from Albany High School in 1936.

He married Helen Ann Sanders May 24, 1947 in Portland. They lived in Albany, on a farm near Jefferson and in Tangent before returning to Albany in 1967. Mrs. Sitton died this year on Jan. 12.

Mr. Sitton played football for Albany College (now Lewis and Clark College in Portland) and played professional football for the Portland Rockets. He returned to Albany after the team disbanded.

He and brother Charlie boxed at the Salem Armory in the 1940s, and he was named the top fullback in Albany's history in the 1950s.

Mr. Sitton was head custodian at South Albany High School before retiring, and he coached Babe Ruth baseball and softball and Amateur Athletics Union basketball. He also coached Boys & Girls Club sports.

He belonged to the OSU Beaver Club and was a past member of the Linn County Sheriff's Posse.

Surviving are sons Rocky and John, both of Albany, Terry of Sweet Home and Bruce of Salem; daughter Diane Gieber of Reedsport; brother Leroy of California; and sister Betty Grice of Albany. There are 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Brothers Woody and Charles and sister Lucille Finch died earlier.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home. Mr. Sitton's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Donna Pritchard officiating. Private entombment will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Mausoleum.

Contributions in Mr. Sitton's name may be made to the South Albany High School Athletic Fund or the Beaver Athletic Scholarship Fund, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore. 97321.

Mary Louise Bauman-Mirhady
July 16, 2007

Mary Louise Bauman-Mirhady passed away in Newport Beach, California on July 16, 2007 after several years of declining health.

Mary was born in Stayton, Oregon and was the daughter of Henry and Lera Snoddy. Four sisters and two brothers predeceased her.

Mary was married for 25 years to William Bauman, an Oregon lumberman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. They made their home in Lebanon, where they raised their family.

For the last 17 years Mary lived in both Portland, Oregon and Corona Del Mar, California. From 1990 she served as Chairman of The William H. and Mary L. Bauman Foundation. Here she provided leadership in supporting social and health agencies, the arts, educational institutions and faith based organizations.

Mary had a keen interest in contributing to organizations benefiting women and children. She provided assistance to the Dougy Center, Trillium Family Services, Boys and Girls Aid Society, The Salvation Army West Women's Shelter, Doernbecher Children's Hospital's Childhood Diabetes program and OHSU-Casey Eye Clinic for autoimmune disease.

As a patron of the arts, Mary supported The Oregon Ballet, The Portland Art Museum, The Portland Opera, The Oregon Symphony and The Oregon Historical Society. Mary encouraged educational institutions like George Fox University, George Fox Evangelical Seminary and Lewis and Clark College with her interest and funding. A long time member of the Pacific Conference of The Evangelical Church, Mary was influential in providing major donor support for various conference programs in education, church extension, coaching, clergy assessment and natural church development.

Mary's 77 years were filled with wonderful interests and activities that enriched her life and others. Of her many hobbies, she thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world, playing piano and oil painting. She loved watching the sunsets from her second home in Corona Del Mar with her husband, Farhad.

Mary is survived by her husband of 17 years, Farhad Mirhady, four children, Bruce Schwindt, Paul Schwindt, Gay Schwindt-Salo and Julietta Bauman-Freres, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her family, Mary leaves many friends who have benefited from her passion for life and thoughtful kindness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Private services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 in Sweet Home, Oregon. A celebration of her life will take place at The Arlington Club in Portland, Oregon on August 8th.

Joseph H. Folz
Feb. 8, 1927 - April 18, 1999

LEBANON - Former Lebanon resident Joseph H. Folz, 72, of Graham, Wash., died Sunday at Tacoma General Hospital.

He was born in Tomahawk, Wis., the son of Joseph and Amanda (Maug) Folz. He married Dorothy E. Bauer July 5, 1947, in Tomahawk. She died April 23, 1997.

Mr. Folz served in the Navy during World War II as a submarine electronics technician. After the war he homesteaded near Anchorage, Alaska, operated a commercial fishing boat out of Seward, Alaska, and studied geology at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.

He worked many years in Alaskan real estate development and construction. For several years he owned and operated a gold mine above the Arctic Circle. After his retirement, he and Dorothy moved to Lebanon in 1975. He moved to Graham in 1997.

Mr. Folz belonged to the Lebanon Chapel Christian Fellowship and attended Cedar Springs Community Church in Graham. He enjoyed traveling, being involved in his church and monitoring his investments. He especially liked cutting fire wood and donating it to those who needed it.

Surviving are daughters JoEllen Hilmo of Castro Valley, Calif., and Pamela Brannan of Graham, Wash.; son Dan of Fairbanks; sister Nola Bragg of Wasilla, Alaska; and brothers Dick Folz of Anchorage, LeRoy of Texas and Bob of Tok, Alaska. There are six grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lebanon Chapel Christian Fellowship, 2900 South Main Road, with Pastor Keith Stroup officiating. Burial will follow at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.

William “Bill” Duane Partch
April 23, 1924 - February 3, 2007

William “Bill” Duane Partch, 82, of Sweet Home died Saturday. He was born to Elmer and Cecile Partch in Castle Rock, Washington.

Bill moved to Sweet Home as a young boy and attended Sweet Home area schools. He served for 3 1/2 years in the Army during WWII. He was a logger in the local area his whole life. Jan. 8, 1997 he married Helen Deckard.

He is survived by step child, Lori Palmer; grandchildren, Jody William, Oma Winter, Sherry Thein, and Melissa Wassel; great-great-grandchildren, Autumn, Christopher, Sherry, Josh, Jordan, Nick, and Sherriah; Aunt Debbi; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by wife, Helen Partch, and sister, “Denny”.

Services will be Wednesday, April 4, at 2 pm at Gilliland cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Rachel A. Hulery
May 30, 1914 - April 17, 1999

CORVALLIS - Rachel Annette Hulery, 84, of Corvallis died Saturday at Heart of the Valley Care Center in Corvallis.

She was born in Harrisburg and grew up in Albany. She married Bill F. Hulery June 25, 1933. They moved to Corvallis in 1939, and Mr. Hulery died in March of 1967.

Mrs. Hulery worked for MacGregor's Variety Store before retiring in 1979. She was a former member of the Lady Elks. Her hobbies included sewing and other needlework, cooking and making candy.

Surviving are daughters Sandra Hulery of Philomath, Inez Jones of Junction City and Billie Anne Steimer of Albany; companion Bill Walker; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Mrs. Hulery's life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Albany Senior Citizen's Center, 489 Water Ave., Albany. A potluck supper will follow the service.

McHenry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Edna M. Porter
Feb. 19, 1912 - April 20, 1999

BROWNSVILLE - Edna M. Porter, 87, of Brownsville died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

She was born near Halsey to Louis and Anna (Drone) Falk. She married Justice Arthur "Jud" Porter Feb. 9, 1935, in Brownsville, and they were farmers. He died April 17, 1985.

Mrs. Porter lived in the Brownsville-Halsey area all of her life. She enjoyed gardening and working outside and was fond of flowers.

Surviving are son Terry L. Porter of Portland; daughters Betty Dorsing of Salem and Alta Herr of Eugene; brothers Louis Falk of Halsey and Delmer Falk of Sisters; sister Betty Jean Alexander of St. David, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Daughter Joyce Hopla died in 1991, and two brothers and three sisters died before Mrs. Porter.

A private, family graveside service will be at Overton cemetery in Brownsville.
