Isobel R. Brown

Isobel R. Brown, 83 of Honesdale died June 26, 2007 at Julia Ribaudo
Home in Lake Ariel. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter
H. Brown who died June 24, 2003.

Born Feb. 18, 1924 in Buffalo, NY she was the daughter of the late
James and Isobel Adams Riddock. A housewife and loving mother, she
was a former missionary for the Baptist Church in the US and South
America. Isobel enjoyed music and was the organist at her church. She
loved her cats and all animals and loved shopping with her granddaughter.
Isobel was a member of the Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle.

She is survived by her son James Brown of Hawaii; grandchildren Wendy
Donnelly, Wayne Brown, Edward Rhinesmith, Leslie Rhinesmith, and Holly
Edwards; a great-grandson Ford Van Wert.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Janice Rhinesmith who died in
2006 and a brother Leslie Riddock.

As per her request, cremation was held at Maple Hill Crematory in
Archbald. A memorial service will be held at the Honesdale Gopel
Tabernacle by Partor Paul Williamson on Saturday July 14, 2007 at 11
AM. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.

Dorothea E. Thorbjornsen

Dorothea E. Thorbjornsen, 86 of Galilee, died Sunday June 24, 2007 at
Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband
Andrew Dorna and 2nd husband Harry Thorbjornsen.

Born June 24, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, she is the last surviving member
of the Philip and Wilhelmina Winter family. She was a graduate of
Grover Cleveland High School of which she wrote the school song. A
loving housewife and mother, Dorothea was a very friendly , outgoing
person who would give a helping hand to all who needed it in Glendale
and in Florida. She resided most of life in Glendale, and the past 8
years in Galilee. A very caring mother, she was the caretaker for
her late son Dennis during his illness. She will be greatly missed by
her family and friends.

Surviving are her sons Douglas Doran and wife Josephine of New Port
Richie, Fl and Andrew Doran and wife Ana of Palm City, Fl and a
daughter with whom she resided in Galilee, Doreen McDonald and husband
Jeffrey who she thought more like a son; grandchildren Douglas,
Richard, and Lisa Doran, 5 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death is her son Dennis Doran, brothers Walter,
Henry, and Philip and sisters Grace and Helen.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Mary
Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Cremation will follow at Maple Hill
Crematory in Archbald. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home,
428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Ashes will be
interred in Hill Crest Cemetery in Galilee at the families convenience.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138
Miller Rd. Honesdale, PA 18431.

Joseph Nicola Leogrande

Joseph Nicola Leogrande, 93 of Honesdale and a resident of The Laurels
Health and Rehab Center in Peckville, died Sunday June 24, 2007 at Mid
Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years,
the former Clara Coletta Cutrone who died January 5, 2007. The couple
married May 26, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY.

Born November 18, 1913 in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, he was the son of the
late Vincent and Constance DiNapoli Leogrande. A proud US Army
Veteran, he served during WWII and was involved with the invasion at
Normandy attached with the Airborne Trooper Carrier Command, 9th
Airforce. He achieved the rank of Private First Class. Along with
being a veteran, Joe was a member of VFW Post 1582 in Inwood, NY. A
man who liked to try a little of everything, Joe had several jobs. He
worked for many years as a Sanitation Engineer for the town of
Hempstead, NY, was a custodian at Peninsula National Bank in Inwood,
NY, and had several seasonal moving and trucking jobs. Joe was also
an entrepreneur who started his own Ice, Coal and Kerosene Business in
Rockaway Beach, NY. He was a member of the CSEA Sanitation Union and
was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale.

A music lover, Joe enjoyed singing, dancing and listening to music.
He also enjoyed gardening, antique cars and trucks, horses and
painting signs.

Surviving are 2 sons Vincent Leogrande and wife Katherine of Miller
Place, NY and Joseph Leogrande and wife Cathy Jo of Auburn, NY; 2
 daughters Maria Zarcone and husband Frank of Bethany and Ida
Leone-Segui and husband Ben of FL; sisters Antoinette Musso, Mary
Cassano, Celia Colletta and Frances McGurk; 14 grandchildren and 4
great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Dominic Leogrande and sisters
Lillian Dinelli and Margaret Savino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Mary
Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 7 PM. Interment will be Wednesday at
1:30 at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Middle Village, NY. Friends
may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Tuesday
from 3-6:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers
Association-Greater PA Chapter, 100 West Station Square Dr. Ste. 500,
Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Francis J. Motichka

Francis J. Motichka, 86 of Honesdale, died Sunday June 17, 2007 at
Hershey Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50
years the former Elsie L. Janus who died Aug. 7, 2001. The fact that
his death was on  Father's Day highlighted the roles that were most
central to his life.

Born January 9, 1921 in Lake Ariel, he was the son of the late Andrew
and Anna Puhalla Motichka and was a graduate of Lake Consolidated High
School in Lake Ariel. After working on the family farm he was
employed at the Honesdale Catholic School, Moore Business Forms and
retired from Chroma Tube Co. in White Mills. He was a member of St.
John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and loved St. Mary Magdalen
Church.

A Beekeeper for 70 years, he was the founding  Father of the Wayne Co.
Beekeepers Association. Over the years he was a selfless mentor to
scores of aspiring beekeepers. His passion for beekeeping filled his
life with a particular sweetness.

Surviving are his sons Francis R. and wife Cindy of Lake Ariel,
Stephen and wife Jennifer of Tyler Hill, Joseph and wife Patti of
Waymart, and James and wife Anna Maria of Honesdale;  daughters Diane
Popovich of Honesdale, Mrs. James (Joanne) Reagan of East Fallowfield,
PA, Mrs. Richard (Susan) LaTournous of Harrisburg, Dolores Motichka
and husband John Kasht of Honesdale and Teresa Motichka of San
Fransico, CA. sisters Margaret Shestok and Anne Motichka both of
Union, NJ, Kathryn Stankiewicz of Dickson City and Cecelia Motichka of
Honesdale; 8 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death is his infant son Paul, infant
granddaughter Jennifer Reagan, 6 brothers Andrew, John, Cyril, Method,
Thomas and George and 2 sisters Helen and Mary Motichka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at St. Mary
Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St.
Mary's Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428
Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday from 4-8.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Rachel Elizabeth Abraham-Mader

Rachel Elizabeth Abraham-Mader, 21 of Honesdale died June 12, 2007
from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born October 20, 1985 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of
Elizabeth Abraham of Honesdale with whom she resided and Carson Lee
Mader of Ocala, FL. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's School in 8th
grade and a class of 2003 graduate of Honesdale High School. She
would be a senior at Penn State University in State College studying
Biobehavior Health - Epidemiology of which she was on the Dean's List
and received high honors. She was employed at Woodloch Springs when
home. Rachel was a kind and caring person that loved her siamese cats
and lived life to the fullest.

Also surviving is her maternal Grandmother Shirley Abraham and
paternal Grandfather Stanley Mader; her boyfriend Ricky Edelmann of
Lakeville; aunts Shirley Posner of Gettysburg, Dr. Suzanne Abraham of
New York City, and Bonnie Abraham of Honesdale; uncles William Abraham
and Mark Abraham both of Honesdale; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death her maternal Grandfather William Abraham Sr.
and paternal grandmother Elizabeth A. Mader.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in St. Mary
Magdalen Church in Honesdale. The family will receive friends at
the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday from 2-4
and 6-8. Cremation will be at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138
Miller Rd. Honesdale, PA 18431.

Joseph Woodrow Schneider

Joseph Woodrow Schneider, 88 of Honesdale, died Monday June 4, 2007 at
his home. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Mary
Demasco. The couple married Sept. 15, 1940.

Born August 8, 1918 in Baldwin, NY, he was the son of the late John
and Magdalene Saverwein Schneider. He was a US Navy Veteran serving
during WWII. Before retiring Joe was a US Letter Carrier for the US
Postal Service in West Hempstead, NY Nassau County. He was a member
of St. John the Evangelist Church and attended St. Mary Magdalen
Church. A kind man, Joe always enjoyed the company of children.

Also surviving are his sons Joseph A. Schneider of Hancock, NY and
Michael A. Schneider of New York City;  daughters Marie and husband
John Scicutella of Cherry Ridge and Diane M. Schneider of Damascus; a
grandson Christopher Scicutella and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters Catherine Rankin, Madaline
Rafferty, and Margaret Braver; brothers Stephen, Henry and John
Schneider.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at St. Mary
Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St.
Mary's Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428
Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm.

Marguerite A. Kneise

Marguerite A. Kneisel, 100 of Honesdale died Saturday, June 2, 2007 in
Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton.

Born in Dyberry Twp., Honesdale, Marguerite celebrated her 100th
birthday October 31, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Albert
and Elizabeth Farrell Paynter. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen
Church in Honesdale, a former member of the Wayne Memorial Hospital
Ladies Auxillary and was a retired clerk for FW Woolworth in Scranton.

Surviving are two granddaughters Lynn Hiza, Clarks Summit and Marcee
Kneisel Adams, Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren David and Jason
Hiza, Clarks Summit; Elena Kneisel Matuszewski of Dickson City, Ashley
Kneisel Bush, Charlotte, NC and Mitchell Kneisel Davis of Charlotte NC
and great great grandchildren Abigail Hiza, Morgan Hiza and Zackary
Hiza.

She was preceded in death by her son beloved David Kneisel in 1982, a
brother Louis Paynter, and a sister Julia Megivern.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am at
St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment will follow in St.
Cecelia's Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may visit the Hessling
Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA on Friday from 9 to 10 am.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Evangelist Parish
414 Church St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
