Gladys V. Thompson

June 21, 2005

Gladys V. Thompson, Lake Ariel, died early Tuesday morning in the Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Sr Care Center, Lake Ariel. She was preceded in death by two husbands John Dow & Norman Thompson.

She was born in Warm Beach, Wa. She was the daughter of the late James and Caroline Hayes Lewis. She graduated nursing school in Standwood, Washington and also attended Humbolt State University in California where she earned a bachelor of science degree. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a registered nurse and also served as the Director of Nursing for the  daughters of Jacob Hospital in the Bronx for 20 years.

Surviving are a son John Dow of California; a daughter Marilyn Dimas of St. Petersburg, Fl.; a sister Edith Norden of Colorado; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister Lilly Gunderson and a brother Albert Lewis.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Deborah F. Belk

June 15, 2005

Deborah F. Yackobovicz Belk, Lake Ariel, died Wednesday in Scranton. Her husband is Theodore Belk, Jr.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Ronald Yackobovicz of Scranton and Rosemary Staff Yackobovicz and her fiancé Mark Sauers of Lake Ariel. She was a graduate of Scranton High School and was employed as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Albert Stofko. She served in the United States Army Reserves 317th Dental Unit as a Dental Hygenist.

Surviving are sisters Elizabeth Yackobovicz of Lake Ariel and Jennifer Yackobovicz of Throop; maternal grandmother Mildred Staff of Scranton; paternal grandparents Roman and Victoria Sokoloski Yackobovicz of Taylor; her mother and  Father in law Theodore and Susan Belk; aunts and uncles; cousins.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Interment, Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery with full military honors by the 317th Dental Unit of the United States Army Reserves.

Terese A. Williamson

June 16, 2005

Terese A. Williamson, 224 The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Thursday at the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit after an illness. Her husband is Hugh Williamson.

Born in Paterson, N.J. son of the late Edward and Anne Grant Haeussler. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church, the Red Hat Society of the Hideout, and the Staff Sgt. Paul Sweeney American Legion Post 708 Auxillary. Prior to retirement she worked as a Real Estate Agent.

Surviving are sons Hugh J. and his wife Susan Williamson of New York; Phillip E. and his wife Lisa Williamson of Lake Ariel; John R. and his wife Sharon Williamson of New Jersey;  daughters Anne Patricia Williamson and Catherine Terese Williamson both of Florida and Jean Marie Brown and her husband Al of New Jersey; a brother Robert Haeussler of Missouri; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9am from the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass to be celebrated at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9.

Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ledgedale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the America Cancer Society.

Keith Alton Ohlson

June 15, 2005

Keith Alton Ohlson, Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, Lake Ariel died early Wednesday morning in Wayne, New Jersey. His widow is the former Joan Truswell.

Born in Brooklyn, son of the late Alex and Esther Birkenes Ohlson. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a licenced jet airplane mechanic for United Airlines. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Surviving are  daughters Stymie Ohlson and her husband Kevin Graham of San Diego, Karen Ohlson Howe and her husband Skip of Wayne, NJ and Kristine Ohlson Walby and her husband Christopher of San Diego; grandchildren Jordan, Paige, Chandlar, and Grant; grand dogs.

Friends may call Saturday from 4-7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Interment, private at convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Passaic Valley Hospice 783 Riverview Dr. Totowa, NJ 07511.

Naomi J. Franklin

June 10, 2005

Naomi J. Franklin, Lake Ariel, died Friday morning in the Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness. Her husband is Llewellyn Franklin.

Born in Maplewood, daughter of the late Leslie and Dorothy Zieler Van Sickle. She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Hamlin where she was a Sunday school teacher for over twenty five years, she also served as secretary of the Sunday school and was active in the missionette class.

Surviving are a son Glenn and his wife Paula of Greentown;  daughters Elaine Hettes and her husband Frank of Greentown, Linda Wiley and her husband James of Allentown, and Sharon Sanes and her husband Keith of Cherryville; brothers Lloyd Van Sickle of Old Forge and Clyde Van Sickle of Cortez; nieces Denise Stiffler and her husband Charles, Sandy and Michelle Jayne; a beloved grandmother of eleven; several great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister Lois Jayne.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11am in the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Route 191 Hamlin.

Friends may call Monday morning from 10 until time of service in the church.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church Sunday School PO Box 34 Hamlin, Pa. 18427.

Mary Salino

May 27, 2005

Mary Salino, The Hideout, Lake Ariel, formerly of Hackensack, NJ died Friday evening in Mallard Meadows Nursing Home after an illness. She was the widow of John Salino who died in 1961.

Born in New York, NY daughter of the late Wasyl and Paranka Melnyk Ronish she was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Hackensack, NJ and prior to retirement she had been employed as a bookkeeper in Ridgfield, NJ.

Surviving are a son John Salino of West Milford, NJ; a daughter Barbara Pannone of Lake Ariel; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel

Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ.

Alan T. Gillette

May 25, 2005

Alan T. Gillette, 42, Waymart, died Wednesday in Sedona, Arizona.

Born in Cottonwood, Idaho, son of Richard and Irene Mobley Gillette of Waymart, he was a 1981 graduate of Western Wayne High School. He worked for many years with Gillette Contracting.

He was a much loved  Father, son, brother, and uncle who loved to golf and spend time with those closest to him. He was a good hearted person who willed be missed more than he could have ever imagined. He will be thought of often.

Surviving are a daughter Sara and a son Keith both of Dallas, Pa.; a grandfather Alson Safford, Lake Ariel; a brother Richard Gillette, Jr., Waymart; a sister Teri Lynn Carey, Waymart; aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews; his best friend Anna Yasua, Az.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Eugene Kellogg.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9.

Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.

Raymond V. Redaelli, Jr.

May 12, 2005

Raymond V. Redaelli, Jr of Lake Ariel died Thursday morning in the Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home, Lake Ariel. His wife was the late Freda Turrisa Redaellli who died in Dec of 1999.

He was born in Jersey City, NJ son of the late Raymond V. And Tina Schuller Redaelli, Sr.

Prior to retirement he was a self employed Insulating contractor. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews in New Jersey.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 am in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

Thomas "Tompy" Donelly

May 1, 2005

Thomas "Tompy" Donelly, South Canaan, formerly of Scranton for 60 years died Sunday at home after an illness. He was the widower of the former Kathryn Randolph.

Born in Worcester, Mass son of the late John and Sara Iveson Donelly. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a commercial fisherman in St. Petersburg, Florida, a truck driver for the Pappas Banana Wholesale Company, and by the Scranton Casket Company in production.

He loved to hunt, fish, and garden.

Surviving are a  daughters Kathie Lockwood and her husband Dave with whom Tompy resided and where his caregivers and Pattie Duncan and her husband Ron of Glendale, Az; a niece Ellen Shamnoski of Moosic; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother John; sisters Alice, Evelyn, and Dotsy.

Interment and services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Alfred G. Groschang

April 23, 2005

Alfred G. Groschang, Lake Ariel, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital. His wife was the late Eleanor Freed.

Born in Philadelphia, son of the late Gustav and Olga Fischer Groschang. Prior to retirement he was a foreman at Hagen, Frith and sons, Meadowbrook, Pa. He was an Army Veteran serving during World War II.

Surviving are a son Gerald, Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Karen Bach, Meshoppen, Pa; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Olga Peacock.

Services were private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the James Wilson Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 296 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.
