Kenneth L. Adams Sr.
Kenneth L. Adams Sr., 74, of 736 South Second St., Chambersburg, died at 10:25 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 24, 1933 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Charles and Grace Noll Adams.

David O. Nicodemus
David O. Nicodemus, 77, died Jan. 1, 2008, at Jeanes Hospital, Philadelphia. He had bone marrow cancer for almost five years. Born in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John O. and Dorothy (nee McKown) Nicodemus. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Penn State in 1952.

Glenn E. Martin
Glenn E. Martin, 71, of 2146 Rohrersville Road, Knoxville, Md. died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 in his home. Born Jan. 27, 1936 in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Abner R. and Naomi E. (Diller) Martin. He was a retired dairy farmer.

Stephanie Lauren Zeis
Stephanie Lauren Zeis, 18, of 9597 McClanahan Road, Greencastle, died Sunday evening, Dec. 30, 2007 at the scene of an automobile accident in Penn Township Cumberland County.

Born March 9, 1989 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Doug and Brenda G. (Mowen) Zeis of Greencastle.

She was employed as a groomer at PetSmart in Hagerstown, Md.

Ms. Zeis was a 2007 honor graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and attended grooming academy in Frederick, Md.

She was a three-year varsity softball player, having played on three division teams (2005, 2006 and 2007) and her team claimed the Mid-Penn Conference Championship in 2007.

Ms. Zeis had played softball since she was 8 and was also a member of the 2001 National Slow Pitch Softball team that played in Kentucky and a member of the National Fast Pitch Team that played in Alabama.

She loved her family, hunting, deep sea fishing and going to the beach.

Ms. Zeis loved small animals and worked as a volunteer at the Washington County Humane Society in Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Tiffany Zeis and her fiancé Dustin Beaver of Greencastle; paternal grandparents, Stephen and Bonnie Zeis of Greencastle; aunt and uncle, Angie and Mark Miller and cousins, Morgan and Chad Miller, all of Greencastle; aunts and uncle, Sharon Stoner, Sybil Kerlin, Tonya Mowen, Judy Harrison and Ronnie Mowen and families; and boy friend Jeff Ensor of Shrewsbury.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arlene and Eldon Mowen.

Services were held the morning of Saturday, Jan. 5 in the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church, Kauffman, with Rev. Ky R. Searcy and Rev. Joseph L. Stahura officiating.

Burial was in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Douglas D. Stine
Douglas D. Stine, 22, of 5550 Royer Road, Greencastle, died in his home Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2007. Born April 6, 1985 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Allen and Kristina Stine, of Mercersburg, and Mark and Kelly (Shatzer) Kuhn of Greencastle.

Sondra S. "Sue" Keyser
Sondra S. "Sue" Keyser, 54, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of 3839 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in the nursing home. Born Aug. 12, 1953 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Arch W. and Charlotte L. (McCleary) Keyser.

Roy Phenicie Jr.
Roy Phenicie Jr., 81, of 1968 Farmall Dr., Greencastle, died unexpectedly at 1 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 in ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg. Born July 21, 1926 in Greencastle, he was the son of the late Roy and Pearl (Yeagle) Phenicie.

Larry G. Shaffer
Larry G. Shaffer, 56, of 164 N. Allison St., Greencastle, died at 9:42 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 in Julia Manor Health Care Center of Hagerstown, Md. He had been in declining health for the past few years. Born Oct. 24, 1951 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late G. William and Arabelle M. (Benchoff) Shaffer.

William D. "Bill" Kimmel
William D. "Bill" Kimmel, 76, of 14337 Greenview Dr., Greencastle, died at 3:55 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 in Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro.

Born Nov. 13, 1931 in Somerset, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Elsie (Maust) Kimmel. He spent his early life in Somerset.

Mr. Kimmel graduated with the 1950 class of Somerset High School.

He served with the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division, stationed in Germany.

He and his wife, Gloria C. (Sheeler) Kimmel were married in 1952 in Cumberland, Md.

Mr. Kimmel was employed as a television repairman by the former Elliot's TV Repair, Greencastle, from 1956 to 1973. In 1973 he began employment as a carrier and clerk with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of Greencastle Church of the Brethren, Greencastle, Mount Pisgah Lodge 443, Greencastle, Zembo Shriners, Harrisburg, Franklin Co. Shrine Club, Waynesboro, The Southern Penn Scottish Rite Club, Harrisburg Consistory, where he was a 32nd Degree Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg and a life member of Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post 6319, Greencastle.

Mr. Kimmel enjoyed hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, his is survived by a son, Dennis J. Kimmel of Greencastle; two grandchildren; four sisters, Pauline Bell of Florissante, Mo., Dorothy Nair Fries of Mercersburg, Jean Ann Whipkey of Clinton and Betty Nair of Rockville, Md.; two brothers, Robert Kimmel of Hermitage and Harry Kimmel Jr. of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin infant son, Delmus R. Kimmel; a sister, Ethel Mae Bell; and a brother, Ray Kimmel.

Services were held the morning of Saturday, Jan. 19 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Masonic services were conducted by his lodge prior to the service.

Burial followed in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Greencastle Church of the Brethren, Building Fund, 36 S. Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA 17225.

Robert L. Mayhugh Jr.
Robert L. Mayhugh Jr., 75, of 1995 Buchanan Trail East (Box 54) Shady Grove, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital following an extended illness. Born Sept. 18, 1932 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Anna (Bowders) Mayhugh Miller of Waynesboro, and the late Robert L. Mayhugh Sr.

Ray E. Freeman
Ray E. Freeman, 68, of 317 South Ridge Ave., Greencastle, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 in his home. He had been in declining health the past several years and critically ill the last week.

Born Nov. 23, 1939 in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Archie and Zella (Blizzard) Freeman.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and had previously worked at Corning Glass Works of Greencastle and Landis Tool Co. of Waynesboro.

Mr. Freeman was a life member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post 6319 and a member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, both of Greencastle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He and his wife, Esther L. (Stevens) Freeman, were married Dec. 13, 1959 in Hagerstown, Md.

Mr. Freeman enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a son, Timothy A. Freeman of Waynesboro; three brothers, Cleveland Amos Freeman of Waynesboro, James Freeman of Greencastle and Robert Freeman of Huntingdon; a sister, Lillian Monn of Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Freeman, on Aug. 22, 1986.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with Pastor Leon R. Yoder officiating.

Burial will be in the Cedar Hill cemetery, Greencastle.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Of The Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Maurice Sollenberger Martin
Maurice Sollenberger Martin, 84, of 12341 Huyett Lane, Hagerstown, Md., died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2007 in his home.

Born Sept. 11, 1923 in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Daniel S. and Mary (Sollenberger) Martin.

He and his late brother were former owners of the Martins Food Market in Hagerstown. He had also operated several other businesses in the local area.

Mr. Martin was a member of the Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Church and became an ordained minister of the church in May 1969. He also served as the administrator of the Mennonite Fellowship Home of Hagerstown for a number of years.

He and his wife, Naomi M. (Hege) Martin were married April 7, 1943 in Hagerstown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three  daughters, Lois H. (husband of Norman) Horst of Hagerstown, Ella Mae (husband of Elam) Weaver of Shippensburg and Velda (husband of Asad) Ghattas of Hagerstown; two sisters, Anna Eby of Hagerstown and Rebecca Lehman of Chambersburg; two brothers, James S. Martin of Hagerstown and Silas S. Martin of Oregon; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Menno A. Martin.

Services were held the morning of Friday, Jan. 25 in Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss, Md. with the Mennonite Fellowship Church Ministry officiating.

Burial was in the Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Church cemetery.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements were made by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.

Mr. William Balm
William Norman Balm, 93, of Frederick, left for his Heavenly Home at his residence Wednesday,
March 5, 2008. He was the husband of the late Mary Virginia Humm Balm, who passed away June
13, 2005. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. Dec. 3, 1914, he was the son of Edward and Axia Ann (Mercer)
Balm.
Mr. Balm was a longtime member of the South End Baptist Church and a former member at First
Baptist Church in Frederick, where he served as a deacon and treasure. He was employed as a
treasurer by J.M. Bucheimer Leather Company where he worked for many years. He was also a
member and past president of the Lyons Club. Mr. Balm was a veteran of the Army Air Force
serving in the Philippines during World War II. He was an avid reader and loved his family and the
Lord.
Mr. Balm was the loving  Father of Elaine L. Balm of Frederick; Wendy M. Gibson and husband, John
of Frederick; and Marcie L. Dorcus and husband, Steve of Thurmont. He was the devoted
grandfather of Ben Pastorius of Denver, Colo., Ian, Seth Allison, and Kyle Darcus, all of Thurmont.
He is also survived my many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Keeney & Basford, P.A., Funeral
Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at
South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick, MD 21701. The interment will be at
Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls will officiate.
Contributions may be made in Mr. Balm's name to: Alzheimer's Association, 108 Byte Drive, Suite
103, Frederick, MD 21702; Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702; or to
the South End Baptist Church at the above address.

Mr. Julian Bazemore
Julian W. Bazemore, 93, formerly of Thurmont, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at the Citizens
Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 13, 1914 in Lewiston, NC. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Carrie
Bazemore.
Mr. Bazemore was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country during World War II
and during his working carrier Mr. Bazemore worked as a air craft mechanic for Glenn L.
Martins' in Baltimore.
Mr. Bazemore is survived by his daughter, Dee Dee Klipp and husband, David of
Frederick; his son Kenneth L. Bazemore and wife, Mary of Baltimore; his six
grandchildren, Kailee, Hannah, Mason and Lena Klipp, Kenny and Brandon Bazemore.
Mr. Bazemore was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Bennett, Lena Hayes and
Doris Bazemore and his brothers, Carl and Joseph Bazemore.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Resthaven Memorial
Garden cemetery 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick. Rev. Ron Crofford will
officiate.
Those attending services are asked to meet at the cemetery entrance by 1:45 p.m.
Arrangements are by the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Citizens Care and Nursing Rehabilitation
Center Auxiliary, 1900 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD 21702.
Expressions of sympathy may also be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.

Mr. Walter Beall Sr.
Mr. Walter Ira Beall Sr., 79, of Hagerstown and formerly of Frederick, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at
the Washington County Hospital. He was the husband--of Patsy Ann Schildtknecht Beall. Born in
Montgomery County on May 12, 1928, he was a son of the late Ronald Atlee and Myrtle May
Sealock Beall.
Mr. Beall served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had worked for most of his life as an auto
mechanic, with many years at Kaufmann's Garage--and retiring after several years at Ideal Buick in
Frederick. After his retirement he worked for Big-A Auto Parts.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Walter I. Beall Jr., of Hagerstown and Gary W.
Beall and wife, Colleen, of Middletown; three brothers, Raymond Beall of North Carolina, William
Beall of Hagerstown and James Beall of Eagle River, Alaska; five sisters, Mary Windsor of
Cumberland, Frances Showe, Ellen Schildtknecht and husband, Charles, all of Frederick, Mildred
Babb, of Union City, Tenn., and Hazel Wills of Akron, Ohio; four grandchildren, Heather Beall,
Elizabeth Fritz and husband, James, Gary W. Beall Jr., and Stephanie Beall; and three greatgrandchildren,
Halie and Kyra Fritz and Emma; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the
Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Marina C. Flores, will
officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
