Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Lucille M. Taylor

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lucille M. Taylor, 88, of 201 Franklin Farm Lane, and formerly of 270 S. Main St., died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at Franklin County Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 10, 1909, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Josephine E. Smith Mitchell.

She attended schools in Greencastle, Pa.

She retired from the U.S. government in 1970 as a supply analyst, after 28 years of service with Veterans Administration, IRS and Naval Supply in Philadelphia.

A U.S. Army veteran, she served during World War II.

She is survived by her sister, Mary L. Mitchell Thomas of Chambersburg; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Stella and Margaret; and two brothers, Ralph and Floyd.

Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Chaplain William A. Robertson will officiate.

Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, with military services conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1599, Chambersburg.

There will be no public viewing.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. before the services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Nursing Home, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Helen M. Ezolt

STATE LINE, Pa. - Helen M. Ezolt, 82, of 388 East Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home, where she was a guest.

Born July 31, 1915, in Monessen, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Matte Bogdan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Ezolt, in 1996.

She was a homemaker; and earlier, she worked at Fairchild, formerly in Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle, where she was a member of Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of State Line Ruritan Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Anna Mae O'Brien of Silver Spring, Md.; two sons, Robert J. Ezolt of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Thomas J. Ezolt of Greencastle, Pa.; two sisters, Agnes Popovich of Charleroi, Pa., and Mildred Cole of Donora, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle. The Rev. Joseph L. Stahura will be celebrant. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, where the rosary will be said at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., P.O. Box 218, Greencastle, Pa. 17225.

Ruth H. Wildeson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ruth H. Wildeson, 74, of 1582 Gullford Station Road, Chambersburg, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, in her home.

Born May 1, 1923, in Lebanon County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Silas Keller and Amy Houser Keller Bross.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Hades Church of the Brethren in Shady Grove, Pa., for 61 years.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth P. Wildeson, whom she had married Dec. 16, 1944; three  daughters, Fay M. Alleman, Ada R. Strite, both of Chambersburg, and Edna Mae Musselman of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Harold E. Wildeson; four sisters, Ada Bross of Manheim, Pa., Naomi Patches of Lebanon, Pa., Anna Wise of Chambersburg, and Eva Stenger of Shady Grove; two brothers, Jacob Bross and Caleo Bross, both of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Silas Keller Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Dean Gearhart, the Rev. Donald Clapper, and the Rev. George Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Prices Church Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.

The viewing will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be sent to The Gideons Internation, P.O. Box 301, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Glenn D. Clever

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Glenn D. Clever, 64, of 208 S. Park Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born July 7, 1933, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Walter N. and Ada C. Hornbaker Clever.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.

Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Letterkenny Army Depot. He retired in 1988. He was a member of Mercersburg Police Department, retiring in 1991. He also worked in security for the Tuscarora School District, Mercersburg.

He was a member of Mercersburg Montgomery Peters Warren Fire Co.; MMPW Fire Police; a life member of Clarence Armstrong Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6241; and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, all of Mercersburg.

He is survived by one daughter, Catherine H. Cramer of Newburg, Pa.; one son, Glenn A. "Tony" Clever of Mercersburg; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Hann; and two brothers, Randall Clever and Howard Clever.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, with military graveside services conducted by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, Chambersburg, Pa.

The viewing will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to MMPW Fire Co., 132 N. Main St., Mercersburg, Pa. 17236; or MMPW Ambulance Club, 132 N. Main St., Mercersburg, Pa. 17236.

N. Isabel Neikirk

LITITZ, Pa. - N. Isabel Bender Neikirk, 97, a resident of Moravion Manor, 300 W. Lemon St., and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at Moravion Manor.

Born March 16, 1900, in Carlisle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Herbert and Mae Ewing Bender.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Easton Neikirk, in 1974.

She was the oldest member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Lancaster, Pa.

She taught violin.

She is survived by two sons, Walter H. Neikirk of Akron, Ohio, and James E. Neikirk of Landisville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Kenneth J. Dorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

There will be no viewing or evening visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to an association of the blind.

Carrie G. Elliott

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Carrie Grace Elliott, 75, a resident of Caledonia Manor Nursing Home, and formerly of 4326 Fetterhoff Road, Chambersburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at the nursing home.

Born Feb. 9, 1922, in Antrim Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Bertha Grace Vanderau Elliott.

She was a 1940 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg; and then at Frick Co., Waynesboro, Pa., as a filing clerk. Later, she worked for attorney Roy S.F. Angle in Waynesboro and then Dr. S.W. Dittmar in Chambersburg.

She was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, where she was Sunday school superintendent and taught Sunday school in the children's department. She was a trustee of the church; a member of United Methodist Women Missionary Society and the adult Sunday school class.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret E. Laidig of Waynesboro; and one nephew, Alan Laidig of Ellicott City, Md.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Reba Gladys Elliott.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Miller Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. Pastor Robert L. Bason will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dorothy Fryer

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy Fryer, 73, of 1271 Cider Press Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at her home.

Born Oct. 26, 1924, in Millheim, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Clara M. Coble.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Fryer, in 1981.

She retired as a seamstress from Stanley Co. after 30 years.

She is survived by four sisters, Julia Beaton of Spring Mills, Pa., Gladys Boob of Mifflinburg, Pa., and Mary Shaffer and Betty Auman, both of Coburn, Pa.; and one brother, Ralph Coble of Mifflinburg.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Haines; and two brothers, Charles Coble and Franklin Coble.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Heckman Cemetery, Spring Mills.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, Pa. 17252.
