Helen M. Everetts

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Helen M. "Grandma" Everetts, 86, a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home, and formerly of 6755 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Chambersburg.

Born March 26, 1911, in Snake Spring Valley, Bedford County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ada Alice Bingham Diehl.

Her husband, Nedford E. Everetts, preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by three  daughters, Verna June Neuder of Dudley, Pa., Virginia A. Swope of Chambersburg, and Lucretia M. Bowser of St. Thomas; two sisters, Mary Blankley and Betty Harclerode, both of Everett, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stuart A. Troutman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Robert T. Shank

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Robert Tim Shank, 80, of 108 Park Circle, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 3, 1917, in Mont Alto, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert L. and Myrtle Shupe Shank.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet R. Summers Shank, in 1974. They were married on Dec. 24, 1939.

He was a 1937 graduate of Quincy High School.

He was employed as a meat cutter at Waynesboro A&P store. Prior to retiring in 1982, he was a supervisor of supplies at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, Pa., for 42 years.

He served as mayor of Mont Alto; borough secretary; and collected money for the lights and water for the borough.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in Texas.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto, where he was Sunday school superintendent; and served on the board of trustees and other committees. He was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class.

He was a member of Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Company; and served on Mont Alto and Waynesboro school boards.

He is survived by one daughter, Loma J. Gillan of Chambersburg; one son, Barry T. Shank of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Shank.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Main Street, Mont Alto. Pastor Robert L. Bason will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, and on Saturday prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Summit Home Health, 176 S. Coldbrook Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Nelson B. Fleming

QUINCY, Pa. - Nelson B. Fleming, 85, of 203 B Quincy Court, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home.

Born Feb. 24, 1912, in Quincy, Pa., he was the son of the late John N. and Elizabeth Burger Fleming.

He attended Quincy Schools. He graduated from Maryland Institute of Design and Engineering. He also trained in aircraft engineering and maintenance and in welding and fabrication at the former Curtis Wright Air Field in Baltimore.

He was employed in the engineering department of Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Factory in Middle River, Md., from 1933 to 1946. From 1946 until his retirement, in 1990, he was co-owner of Fleming and Sheeley Inc., an interior decorating company in Middle River.

He was a member of Essex United Methodist Church, Essex, Md.

He was a charter member of Jephthah Masonic Lodge 222 Free and Accepted Masons, Middle River, and was a Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason, in Baltimore. He was a member of Boumi Temple Shrine and Boumi Temple Yacht Club, both in Baltimore; past president of Rotary Club, Middle River; past president of Essex River Chamber of Commerce; and a life member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 768, Essex. He received the Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award from Essex Development Corp., in 1992; and the Paul Harris Fellow Award in Rotary.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. "Betty" Sheeley Fleming, whom he married in June of 1936; one son, John R. Fleming of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; two sisters, Jane L. Sheeley of Quincy and Ella Mae Dellinger of Quincy and Red Lion, Pa.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Masonic services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Essex United Methodist Church, Woodward Drive, Essex. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Eddie L. Henry will officiate. Burial will be in Holly Hill Cemetery, Baltimore.

The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Essex United Methodist Church, Maryland Avenue and Woodward Drive, Essex, Md. 21221; or Benevolent Fund of Quincy Untied Methodist Home, P.O. Box 128, Quincy, Pa. 17247.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.

Martha E. Martin

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Martha E. Martin, 85, a resident of Menno-Haven, and formerly of 571 Redwood Drive, State Line, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at the nursing home.

Born Feb. 17, 1912, in Montgomery Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Bertha Cline Meyers.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Cedar Grove Mennonite Church near Greencastle, Pa., where she was active in WMSC and taught Sunday school.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Adam C. Martin of Menno-Village, Chambersburg; one daughter, Barbara Miller of Greencastle; two sons, Richard J. Martin of Greencastle and Donald E. Martin of Newark, Del.; three sisters, Pearl Meyers of Chambersburg, and Elva Keener and Ethel Hawbaker, both of Greencastle; four brothers, John D. Meyers of Greencastle, Irvin C. Meyers and Mark S. Meyers, both of Hagerstown, and Isaac W. Meyers of Madawaska, Maine; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Omar H. Meyers and Paul S. Meyers.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church, 13343 Williamsport Pike, Greencastle. The Rev. Rob Cahill and the Rev. Nelson Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle; and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Mennonite Church WMSC, 13343 Williamsport Pike, Greencastle, Pa. 17225.

Mary C. Sollenberger

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary Catherine Sollenberger, 89, of 545 Overhill Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1908, in Letterkenny Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine Nissley Sollenberger.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg. She had been a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She was active with the sewing circle at the church.

She supervised the kitchen and dining room at Roxbury Holiness Camp, Roxbury, Pa., for 15 years. She had been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Chambersburg.

She is survived by her husband, Paul H. Sollenberger, whom she married on Dec. 19, 1933; three  daughters, D. Jean Sentz of Hellam, Pa., M. Margaretta Groff of Gordonville, Pa., and Janice L. Stauffer of Leola, Pa.; one son, Earl E. Sollenberger of Chambersburg; one brother, S. Irvin Sollenberger of Penn Hall, Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg. The Rev. Robert D. Verno and the Rev. Maurice A. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Air Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Messiah Village Endowment Fund, 100 Mount Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055.

Maude S. Jacobs

QUINCY, Pa. - Maude Speilman Jacobs, 94, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 1510 E. Main St., Waynesboro, is survived by one niece and four nephews, including Robert Speilman of Williamsport.

Wesley R. Bowling

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Wesley R. Bowling, 20, of 22 Bard Drive, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at his home.

Born March 24, 1977, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Gregory L. Bowling of Orrtanna, Pa., and Teresa J. Cramer Fry of Chambersburg.

He was a 1995 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Chambersburg. He was a junior at Shippensburg University.

He had been employed the past four years in the photo lab at Wal-Mart, Chambersburg. He also was employed locally as the head photographer for Legacy Photography, based in Pittsburgh.

He attended Fort Loudon United Methodist Church, Fort Loudon, Pa.

He was the photo editor of The State Newspaper of Shippensburg University. He had been named to the Shippensburg University Honor Society during his freshman year.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Nicholas E. Bowling of Chambersburg; stepmother, Debra K. Rebert Bowling of Orrtana; maternal grandparents, Earl and Jean Cramer of Chambersburg; and paternal grandparents, William E. and Helen S. Bowling of Fort Loudon.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Kenneth Reid and the Rev. Kenneth E. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Margaret H.M. Rahauser

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Margaret Helen McElroy Rahauser, 100, of Village Square, and formerly of Riddle Road, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at Village Square.

Born Jan. 19, 1897, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John R. and Margaret Baughman McElroy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Rahauser, in 1990.

She was a 1917 graduate of Chambersburg High School. She later attended Chambersburg Business College.

In her early life, she was a secretary in the state offices in Harrisburg, Pa., and later worked part time as an insurance agent.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and its Missionary Society.

She was the last of her immediate family. She is survived by nieces and nephews.

A memorial service at Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at Menno-Haven Chapel. The Rev. Karen Minnich-Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to Chambersburg Hospital, 112 N. Seventh St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Salvation Army, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.
