Beatrice M. Kline

HARRISONVILLE, Pa. - Beatrice M. Kline, 81, of Harrisonville, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born July 5, 1916, in Needmore, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James R. and Kathryn Clark Hill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Kline, in 1984.

She had been a cook at Green Hill and Central Fulton Schools and was a farm wife.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonville and attended Knobsville Church of the Brethren. She was a member of United Methodist Women of Asbury and the Gleaners Class.

She is survived by one daughter, Alice Reams of Harrisonville; one son, Harry Kline of Harrisonville; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo Kline and Anna Hill; and four brothers, Don Hill, Arthur Hill, Fred Hill and Boyd Hill.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Knobsville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Christian Elliott and David Reams will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Harrisonville.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church.

Donations in her memory may be made to Gideon International, P.O. Box 642, McConnellsburg, Pa. 17233.

Bela T. Czapp

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Bela T. "Bill" Czapp, 68, of 1054 S. Fifth St., died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 3, 1929, in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sophia Barta Czapp.

He was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia.

He was an analyst at Letterkenny Army Depot "DESCOM," retiring in 1987 after 34 years. He previously was employed at the Naval Base in Philadelphia.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; Landis-McCleaf Detachment Marine Corps League; Hume, McNeal, Byers AmVets Post 224; and Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club, all in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Anna J. Campbell Czapp, whom he married April 6, 1974; three  daughters, Patricia Rotondi of Schwenksville, Pa., Kathleen T. Czapp of Upper Darby, Pa., and Katrina J. McClure of Fayetteville, Pa.; five sons, Robert T. Czapp of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Thomas J. Czapp of Aston, Pa., Steven A. Parson of Upper Strasburg, Pa., Barry L. Parson of Carlisle, Pa., and Timothy R. Parson of Chambersburg; one sister, Theresa Markovich of Weimar, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Mildred M. Heckman

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Mildred M. Heckman, 90, of 6375 Chambersburg Road, and formerly of St. Thomas, Pa., died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 31, 1907, in Green Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mariah Trout Heckman.

She was a 1925 graduate of St. Thomas High School. She graduated from Elizabethtown College Academy with a degree in elementary education.

She was employed as a teacher in St. Thomas, Pa., in the local school systems for 45 years, retiring in 1965.

She was a member of Brandts Church of the Brethren for 86 years, was a Sunday school teacher and was church clerk.

She also was a member of Franklin County Retired Teachers Association, and a life member of the State Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by two nieces, one nephew, five great-nieces and two great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Garland and Mary Heckman; and two brothers, Paul Heckman and Harper Heckman.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Charles R. Martin will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Office of Development, in care of Patrick Hall, Elizabethtown College.

Carmel J. DeBono

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Carmel Joseph DeBono, 66, of 201 Franklin Farm Lane, and formerly of 6 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Franklin County (Pa.) Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 7, 1931, in B'Kara, Malta, he was the son of the late Carmel and Helen Scieberras DeBono.

He retired from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., in 1993. He also worked for other aircraft manufacturing companies.

He had been a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by one daughter, Melody Joy Stone of Toronto, Canada; and two brothers, Sam DeBono and Joe V. DeBono, both of Missi, Ontario, Canada.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.

There will be no public viewing.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., Chambersburg, Pa.

L. Edna Reed

YORK, Pa. - L. Edna Stickell Reed, 94, of Wharton Road, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Manor Care in Dallastown, Pa.

Born July 12, 1903, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel A. and Laura Middlekauff Stickell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John B. Reed Jr.

She attended Hood College in Frederick, Md.

She was a secretary at D.A. Stickell Feed Mill in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Spry, Pa., taught Sunday school, and was a choir member. She attended Church of the Open Door in Shiloh, Pa.

She also was a member of Y.W.C.A. Woman's Club, and a volunteer for Red Cross.

She is survived by three  daughters, Nancy Gise of Dover, Pa., Adele R. Mace of York, and Pat R. Aumen of Hanover, Pa.; one son, John B. Reed III of Dallastown; seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Church of the Open Door in Shiloh. The Rev. William J. Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court, York, Pa. 17404; or to Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry, 50 School St., York, Pa. 17402.

Arrangements are by Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., York.

Irene C. Clevenger

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Irene Catherine Carbaugh Clevenger, 87, a resident of Fulton County Medical Center, Skilled Care Unit, and formerly of 9821 Fort Loudon Road, Mercersburg, Pa., died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg.

Born June 7, 1911, in Welsh Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John C. and Sarah Long Carbaugh.

Her husband, George E. Clevenger, died in 1992. They were married May 1, 1930.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two  daughters, Mabel L. Koser of Mercersburg, Pa., and Brenda R. Sites of Greencastle, Pa.; seven sons, Dean L. Clevenger, Merle S. Clevenger, Donald E. Clevenger and Harold E. Clevenger, all of Mercersburg, George C. Clevenger Jr., Harry L. Clevenger, and Franklin E. Clevenger, all of Greencastle; one brother, Earl S. Carbaugh of Greencastle; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Earl Clevenger; six sisters and two brothers.

Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Paul A. Martin and the Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Montgomery Brethren in Christ Cemetery in Upton, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert E. Lindenmuth

CARLISLE, Pa. - Robert E. Lindenmuth, 72, of Cumberland Crossing Retirement Community, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at the retirement community.

Born Sept. 26, 1925, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Franklin F. and Mary Jane Clark Lindenmuth Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, O. Marie Fitzgerald Lindenmuth, in 1990.

He retired as a security specialist from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa., after 32 years.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He later served in the U.S. Army.

He attended Grace Baptist Church, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Oscar M. Hykes Post 223 American Legion of Shippensburg, Pa.; Fraternal Order of Police; and Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association.

He is survived by four  daughters, Victoria Ann Wingert and Cindy Kay Gadberry, both of Carlisle, Barbara Ann McClintock and Sister Dorothea Lindenmuth, both of Philadelphia; two sons, Joseph Todd Lindenmuth of Philadelphia and Richard Blaine Lindenmuth of Chambersburg; one sister, Elizabeth J. Rice of Philadelphia; one brother, Henry T. Lindenmuth of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Jo Wingert, in 1981; and three brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Robert Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Members of Oscar M. Hykes Post 223 American Legion, Shippensburg, will be honor guard.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg; and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 2435 McCleary Drive; Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Pregnancy Ministries Inc., 497 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Lloyd W. Foose

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lloyd W. Foose, 89, a resident of Menno Haven, and formerly of 940 S. Fifth St. and Shippensburg, Pa., died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Menno Haven.

Born Jan. 15, 1909, in Doylesburg, Pa., he was the son of the late David C. and Lilly Crouse Foose.

He retired in 1974 from the former ITT Domestic Pump and Manufacturing Company, Shippensburg.

He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg, and the Men's Bible Class. He served in all positions including elder, deacon and trustee.

He was a member of Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Shippensburg; Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association; and Jolly 60's, Chambersburg. He had been a baseball player.

He is survived by his wife, Florence C. Etter Foose, whom he married July 7, 1934; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald L. Foose, in 1980; a sister, and a brother.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Bonnie Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 East Orange St., Shippensburg, Pa. 17257; or Menno Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
