Jacqueline L. Shearer

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jacqueline L. Snowberger Shearer, 60, of 31 E. Second St., died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Tami S. Summers, of 512 Clayton Ave., Waynesboro.

Born May 26, 1938, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Theodore M. and Gladys Staley Snowberger Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman R. "Dutch" Shearer Jr., in 1990. They were married Sept. 13, 1957.

She had worked at Waynesboro Shoe Factory. She was last employed at Summitview Elementary School, Waynesboro, where she worked in the health room and as a teachers assistant and tutor.

She is survived by three  daughters, Kimberly A. Pauley, Tami S. Summers and Teri L. Burcker, all of Waynesboro; two brothers, Theodore Snowberger Jr. and Donald Snowberger, both of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; a stepgreat-grandson; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Lawrence M. Downing

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lawrence M. "Larry" Downing, 63, of Greencastle, and formerly of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, in Greencastle.

He was the son of the late Lincoln and Mabel Downing.

He formerly owned and operated A-Plus Transmission Service in Bunker Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Downing of Bunker Hill; one stepdaughter, Debbie Furr of Bunker Hill; three sons, Larry Downing, Gary Downing and Ronnie Downing, all of Stafford, Va.; four sisters; one brother; grandchildren; and three step-grandsons.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg.

Robert W. Douglas

SCOTLAND, Pa. - Robert W. Douglas, 92, of 3990 Lincoln St., died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at his home.

Born June 18, 1906, in Upper Strasburg, Pa., he was the son of the late James M. and Ida E. Gipe Douglas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Miller Douglas, in 1982.

He was a laborer with Associated Wholesalers in Chambersburg, Pa. He also was employed by the former Burgner Fruit Orchard in Scotland.

He is survived by one sister, Eva Smith of Chambersburg; one brother, Irvin E. Douglas of Scotland; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Charles L. Kind will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Lisa I.W. Jones

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lisa I.W. Jones, 72, of 5947 Fort McCord Road, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 21, 1925, in Hamburg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Hermann and Hella Schult.

She graduated from high school in Hamburg and from Fashion Design School in Munich, Germany.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, Chambersburg.

She is survived by her husband, James R. Jones; two  daughters, Winifred H. Jones-Wenger of Phillipsburg, Pa., and Nina R. Harbaugh of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, J. Conrad Jones of Advance, N.C., and Craig W. Jones of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Joachim C.E. Schult of Wilmington, Del.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, 221 N. Main St., Chambersburg. The Rev. William H. Harter will officiate. Burial will be in Brechbill Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Coyle Free Library, 102 N. Main St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Louise L. Kuhn

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Louise L. Kuhn, 72, of 545 E. Baltimore St., died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at her home.

Born May 3, 1926, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Fred K. and Carrie E. Summers Sellers.

She attended Greencastle High School.

She retired after 30 years as a cafeteria worker in Greencastle-Antrim School District, having last worked in the Greencastle-Antrim Middle School.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.

She was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 Auxiliary and National AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara L. Beam of Kauffman Station, Pa.; one son, Mark J. Kuhn of State Line, Pa.; three sisters, Goldie Ferry of Kauffman Station, Margaret Cump and Elva Anderson, both of Greencastle; one brother, Alvin O. "Dean" Sellers of Greencastle; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Olive Jones; and two brothers, Earl Sellers and Dwight Sellers.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Perry Hanson and the Rev. Donald Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman Station.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Franklin County Unit, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Kathleen L. Beam

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Kathleen L. "Kathy" Beam, 51, of 353 W. Second St., died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at her home.

Born Oct. 18, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Louise Woodward Womer.

She was a 1964 graduate of William Penn High School, Harrisburg; and a graduate of Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

She was employed as a nurse by Brook Lane Health Services, Hagerstown, for 15 years. She then taught health occupation at Scotland School for Veterans Children in Scotland, Pa.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Beam, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1970; one brother, Phillip Womer of Harrisburg; one aunt and one uncle.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Womer and Douglas Womer.

Memorial services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service Thursday.

Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes, P.O. Box 1571, Suite 100, Boston, Mass. 02104-1571.

Alice R. Myers

HARRISONVILLE, Pa. - Alice R. Myers, 75, of HCR 64, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Pa.

Born March 30, 1923, in Harrisonville, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Stanley and Addie Baker Strait.

She worked at Sagner's as a seamstress for 15 years. She retired from Family House Restaurant, Breezewood, Pa.

She was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, and Ladies Aid.

She was a member of Green Hill Sewing Club; Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 655, McConnellsburg, Pa.; Center for Senior Citizens; and DAV Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Brant Myers, whom she married on Oct. 8, 1943; one daughter, Shirley Barelay of McConnellsburg; one son, Harry E. Myers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Louise Mannetti of Pittsburgh and Mary Kell of McConnellsburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Siloam United Methodist Church, Harrisonville. Pastor Charles Gummo will officiate. Burial will be in Siloam United Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church today one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are by Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville.

Carrie V. Lonce

NEW OXFORD, Pa. - Carrie V. Lonce, 103, of 2990 Carlisle Pike and formerly of Hanover, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Brethren Home, Oxford Township, Pa.

Born July 14, 1895, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Alice Sell Rudisill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice E. Lonce. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on July 9, 1988.

She and her husband owned and operated Lonce's Dairy Store for 10 years on York Street in Hanover.

She was a member of Christ UCC, Hagerstown.

She is survived by a nephew, Robert L. Rudisill of York, Pa.; great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover. The Rev. Bernard N. King will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Brethren Home, Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, Pa. 17350.

Francis E. Smith

NEEDMORE, Pa. - Services for Francis E. Smith, 82, of Needmore, who died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Resley Road, Hancock.

The viewing will be today from 1:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the services at the church.

Alice S. Myers

HARRISONVILLE, Pa. - Alice Strait Myers, 75, of Harrisonville, wife of Harry Brant Myers, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Harrisburg Hospital.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Siloam United Methodist Church, Harrisonville. Pastor Charles Gummo will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonville; and Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.
