James G. Lear

AGE: 70

OF: Middletown Twp., PA FORMERLY OF Wallingford, PA

DIED: Saturday, February 14, 2004 AT Taylor Hospital

Born: Omaha, Nebraska HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF Wallingford, PA BEFORE MOVING TO Middletown Twp., PA, Sixteen YEARS AGO.

EDUCATION: Attended Wichita State University and New Hampshire University, Attended The Electronics Radio- Television Institute and several other Technical Schools in his pursuit of Scientific knowledge.

VETERAN: US Air Force Serving in the Strategic Air Command; he served as a Weapons Specialist and flew on B-47 Aircraft as a Bombing/Navigation Systems Instructor.

EMPLOYMENT: Boeing AS Engineer FOR 45 years, UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT IN 1995. Jim came to the Boeing Company in its Wichita Division where be worked primarily in the Weapons Development Laboratory. In 1963 he moved to the Space Division in New Orleans and was assigned to the Telemetry Development Laboratories and worked on the Saturn V space booster which was used for the Apollo program to put a man on the Moon. He transferred to Boeing Helicopters in 1966 and worked in the Avionics Area of the Engineering Test Laboratories. In 1969 he transferred to the Wind Tunnel Operations Group where he was the lead engineer for 21 years.

ORGANIZATIONS: A man devoted to his home and family. He enjoyed computer programming, needlepoint and other crafts. In 1996 he began to volunteer at the American Helicopter Museum where was the Director of the Library and the Archivist of the Museum. He was also a member of the Springfield Trail Club. Member of the AHS International and also the Vertical Flight Society

SURVIVORS: Survived by his wife Antoinette Tiny (nee Sibilla) Lear; His Five Girls: Rosemary McGee of Havertown, PA, Karen Coughlan of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Patty Macdonald of Rosemont, PA, Eileen Ursino of Northfield, New Jersey and Geralyn Paterson of Kennett Square, PA; A Sister: Florence Ross of Omaha, Nebraska; Also survived by Thirteen Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren.

SERVICE INFORMATION: Christian Prayer Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday from the Church of Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven, PA Interment SS Peter & Paul cemetery, Springfield, PA. Friends may call Wednesday Evening after 7:00 at The Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA.

Theodore R. Lamplugh

AGE: 89

OF: White Horse Village, Edgmont Twp., PA, formerly of Middletown Twp., PA and Linwood, PA

DIED: Thursday, May 13, 2004 AT White Horse Village, Edgmont Twp., PA BORN IN: Marcus Hook, PA moving to Linwood, PA for 40 years and the Wyncroft Section, Middletown Twp. for 31 years BEFORE MOVING TO White Horse Village, Edgmont Twp., PA IN 1990.

EMPLOYED: Starting working for Sun Oil Company, Marcus Hook refinery in 1933 Worked in the Main Laboratory and the Development Lab for 10 years and the Operating Department for 33 ½ years before he retired February 1, 1977. Served as Secretary to President of the Independent Refinery Workers Union before being promoted to Shift Foreman in 1953 was promoted to Day Foreman in 1958.

ORGANIZATIONS: Honorary member of Linwood Fire Company #1 joining in May 1931. He held the office of Financial Secretary, Deputy Chief, Ambulance Director and was elected President in 1949, 1950 and 1951. Also was President of Linwood Fireman Relief Association. Elected Township Auditor for Lower Chichester held office for 12 years and was elected Township Commissionor for 8 years. Life Member Middletown Fire Company #1 since 1981. Life Member Delaware County Fireman's Associaton. Member Edgmont Township Fire Company since 1991.

In 1956 elected First President of Mickey Vernon Little League. Served as President of Linwood Boys Club. Played baseball with Linwood Fire Company in the Suburban-Twilight League to the West End Chester Recreation Team in the Chester-Twilight League. Played sandlot football with Marcus Hook, PA, Linwood Athletic Club to Sun Oil Athletic Association 1933 to 1937. Honorary member of Sun Oil Athletic Association.

Life Member L.H. Scott Lodge #352 and Sun Honor Club. Member Parkside Retired Men's Group where he was elected Treasurer; also member AARP to White Horse Village Square Club. Volunteered as Tax Counselor for the Elderly from 1983 to 1990 at Havertown and Lima.

SURVIVORS: Husband of 55 years to the late Margaret Anita Lamplugh who died in 1991. He is survived by Two  daughters: Lynn Smedley of Aston, PA and Mary Beth Kraft of Delaware; Also survived by Two grandchildren. Brother of the late George, John and William Lamplugh and Margaret Eckert and Ida Davis.

SERVICE INFORMATION: Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Monday from The Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Interment Lawn Croft cemetery, Linwood, PA.

Evelyn Mae Evie (nee Diggins) Larkin

AGE: 90

DIED: Friday, March 12, 2004 AT Home

Born: Philadelphia, PA HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF Marcus Hook, PA for 82 years, BEFORE MOVING TO Middletown Twp., PA, 8 years ago.

EDUCATION: Attended Chester High School

EMPLOYMENT: In her younger years she worked as a Glass Worker at Viscoe, Marcus Hook, PA

ORGANIZATIONS: CHURCH: Member St Martin's Episcopal Church, Boothwyn, PA

Other: A homemaker who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, bowling and travelling.

SURVIVORS: Wife of the late Douglas Arthur Larkin who died in 1995; She is survived by her Daughter and Son-Law who cared for her Sandra Evelyn & R. Craig McKinley of Middletown Twp., PA; Two sisters: Dorothy Dot MacColl of Folsom, PA and Ruth Smith of Folsom, PA. Also survived by Two Grandchildren and One Great-Grandson; Sister of the late Lewis Diggins.

SERVICE INFORMATION: Burial Office with Requiem Eucharist will begin on Monday 11:00 am from St Martin's Episcopal Church, 700 Meetinghouse Road, Boothwyn, PA 19061, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Interment Siloam United Methodist Church cemetery, Bethel Twp., PA. VETERAN: US Navy WAR World War II SERVED ON: USS Lexington After the War Mr. Machonis served in the active reserves for 32 years.
