Frank D. Ciccarelli

Frank D. Ciccarelli, 78, of Moon twp., passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2003, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Sept. 7, 1925 in West Aliquippa, a son of the late Domenic and Angeline Ciccarelli, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. He was a retired Civil Engineer from the Shefler Co. and was currently a self employed Consulting Engineer for Kennedy Twp., Allegheny Co. Frank was a member and Commander of the American Legion for many years and was also a US Navy veteran who proudly served during WWII.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Bongiovanni) Ciccarelli, Moon Twp.; a daughter, Lisa Ciccarelli, Robinson Twp.; a son, Mark Ciccarelli and wife Lorraine, Hopewell Twp.; and three beautiful grandchildren, Megan, Nicole and Eric Ciccarelli, all of Hopewell Twp.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Philomena Blinky and a grandchild, John M. Ciccarelli.

Frank was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Beaver Co. Special Unit is to meet in the cemetery at 12pm to perform full military honors.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), 2221 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 131, El Segundo, CA 90245.

ROBERT M. HARLOW, SR.

Robert M. Harlow, Sr., 93, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away Wednesday December 10, 2003 in Cambridge, MD.

Born December 13, 1909 in Page County, Virginia, a son of the late William and Rebecca (Keyser) Harlow, he attended the Crestmont Alliance Church in Aliquippa.

He retired from Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation, where he worked as a truck driver for 47 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Jean Schmidt and her husband Robert, East New Market, MD; a grandson, Wayne Schmidt and his wife Kay, East New Market, MD; and five great grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandon, Joshua, Scott, and Katie.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife Josephine; a son Robert M. Harlow, Jr.; five brothers, John, Harry, Dave, Granville, and Joe Harlow; and a sister, Susan Hansbrough.

Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 10am with Rev. William Kissell officiating.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Robert W. “Bob” George

Robert W. “Bob” George, 59, of Raccoon Twp., passed away Sunday December 14, 2003, in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born June 29, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Frances and Eileen George, he was a former employee of the Schaffner Manufacturing Co. and was a lifetime member of the Raccoon Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. Bob also shared a passion for his 1976 Corvette, which he took to numerous car cruises.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann (Dockter) George; a son, Bill George and wife Rose, Hopewell Twp.; two daughters, Becky Garuccio and husband Joe, Monaca and Cindy Dambach and husband Don, Raccoon Twp.; seven beautiful grandchildren, Ryan Ferrari, Raccoon Twp., Joseph, Katy and Jacob Garuccio, of Monaca, Brittany George, Hookstown, Christopher and Bobbie Rae George, Hopewell Twp.; a brother, Don George and wife Alladean, Potter Twp.; a sister, Patty Bucklen and husband Roscoe, Hookstown, and a mother-in-law, Ruth Gallagher, Monaca. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday for a Memorial visitation from 5 until the time of the service at 7pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, with Rev. Doran officiating.

The Raccoon Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a service in the funeral home on Thursday at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the Raccoon Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, 4061 Patterson Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001.

Cecil Paul Donkin

Cecil Paul Donkin, 77, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 in the Aliquippa Community Hospital.

Born Jan. 22, 1926, in New England, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Laura Donkin, he was a retired steel-worker from the LTV Steel Corp. in the 14 inch Mill. He was a US Airforce Veteran who proudly served during WW II. Cecil was also an avid bowler, golfer and gardener, who took great care of his flowers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Louise (Rossi) Donkin and several neices and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert J., Walter E. and Howard Donkin, as well as a sister, Alice Sovitski.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10am in the Church of Jesus Christ, Ross Drive.

Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cecil’s name to the Church of Jesus Christ, 4 Ross Dr., Aliquippa, PA 15001.

Hazel M. Doughty

Hazel M. Doughty, 95, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003, in the Franciscan Manor Nursing Home.

Born Nov. 3, 1908 in Shippingport, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Bertha Rambo, she was a member of the Crestmont Alliance Church. She was a teacher and counselor at the Hopewell School District for 40 years. Hazel was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Mill Creek Historical Association and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Falk and husband Carl, Hopewell Twp. and Shirley Doughty, Beaver Falls; two grandchildren, Carl Falk and wife Janis, Hopewell and Donald Falk and wife Kathy, Suwanne, GA; three great grandchildren, Kristin Falk, Shillington, PA, Justin Falk, Hopewell Twp and Ashley Falk, Suwanne, GA. She also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Doughty; two brothers, Howard and Paul Rambo and a sister, Edith Green.

Hazel’s family expresses thanks to the staff of Franciscan Manor for their compassionate care and to the Odyssey HealthCare for their vigil over her for the past few weeks.

Our thanks to Rev. Gary Nelson and the many friends for their visits, cards and prayers.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00pm.

Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.

Alice (Moch) Orsen

Alice (Moch) Orsen 81, of Aliquippa, passed way Sunday, December 21, 2003 in her home.

Born March 14, 1922 in Dunkirk, NY, a daughter of the late Peter and Bronislava Moch, she was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church and was a homemaker her entire life.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Orsen; two sons, Joseph Allen Orsen and wife Carol, NY, Richard Dennis Orsen and wife Elena, Aliquippa; a daughter, Portia Orsen Ulinski and husband Jim, Moon Twp.; six grandchildren, Joseph A. Orsen NY, Jonathen A. Orsen and wife Melissa, New Jersey, Jason A. Orsen, NY, Daniel J. Ulinski, Pittsburgh, Amy C. Ulinski, NC, and Andrew O. Ulinski, Moon Twp.; a brother, John Mock and wife Mary, NC and two sisters, Delores Markovich, Hopewell Twp. and Jane Lehaney, Hopewell Twp.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin, Edmund, Thomas and Frank Moch, as well as a sister, Mary Freeman.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Titus Catholic Church at 11am

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Victor R. Pasquarelli

Victor R. Pasquarelli, 85, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 30, 1918, a son of the late Domenico and Concetta Pasquarelli, he was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Victor was the Band Director at Hopewell School District for 37 years before retirement and was also a former member of the Lion’s Club. He was also a US Army Veteran who proudly served during WW II.

He is survived by a son, Victor Joseph Pasquarelli and wife Tracy, Hopewell Twp.; a daughter, Lori Carmines and husband Frank, Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Emily and Dominic Pasquarelli, Hopewell Twp. and Jackie Carmines, Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Paul Pasquarelli and wife Nancy, Oakland, PA and a very special friend, Louis Ciletti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Vera (Marsico) Pasquarelli.

Victor was a loving grandfather, who dearly loved his precious grandchildren. He will always be known for his involvement in the School District and in the lives of his loving family. He will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St. Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30am, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Vincent J. Serecin

Vincent J. Serecin, 76, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 in his home.

Born Feb. 4, 1927 in Czechoslovakia, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Serecin, he was affiliated with the Hopewell Missionary Alliance Church. He was a retired machinist from the LTV Steel Corp. and was a US Army Veteran who proudly served during WW II, earning an Army of Occupation and WW II Victory Medal. Vincent also shared a passion for gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dolores (Bugno) Serecin; a son, Vince David Serecin and wife Victoria, Staten Island, NY; two daughters, Elaine Donhoffner and husband, Robert, Indianapolis and Laura Serecin, Aliquippa; three beautiful grandchildren, Bianca Serecin, Hopewell and Regina and Camille Serecin, Staten Island, a brother, Frank Serecin and wife Monica, Aliquippa.

Friends will be received today from 10am until the time of the service at noon, in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Beaver Co. Special Unit is to meet at 12:45pm in the cemetery to provide full military honors.

Andrew “Dewey” Paranay
Formerly of Hazelwood

Andrew “Dewey” Paranay, 42, of Independence Twp., passed away unexpectedly in his home on Dec. 24, 2003.

Born May 17, 1961, a son of Dolores Paranay and the late William Parany, he was a member of the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Pittsburgh. He was an employee at Foster Wheeler Zach and was the President of the Hopewell VFW Rifle Range. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Dewey was also known for his famous annual pig roast that he and his wife, Donna hosted.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Provident) Paranay, Independence Twp., a daughter, Christina Provident, Independence Twp., ; a brother, Bill Paranay and wife Debbie, Economy Borough; two sisters, Marian Norris and husband Gary, Keystone Heights, FL and Carolyn Paranay, Pittsburgh; four brothers-in-law, John and Pat Provident, Tim Provident and wife Lisa, Dan Provident and wife Shelley; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Kerrigan and husband, Kent. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 amd 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Monday at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dewey’s name to the American Heart Association, 10 Duff Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

Mary J. (Srafin) Barna

Mary J. Barna, 94, of Aliquippa, passed away Saturday, October 04, 2003 in the Beaver Elder Care.

Born Aug. 7, 1909, in Fayette Co., PA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Srafin, she was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Mary was a homemaker her entire life while being an active member in the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union.

She is survived by three sons, Michael J. Barna, Hopewell, Joseph R. Barna and wife Joann, Hopewell, and Robert J. Barna and wife Rita, Denver, CO; one daughter, Veronica Ann Barna, Houston, TX; one brother, Charles Srafin and wife Wilma, Hopewell; two sisters, Catherine Ike and husband Ed, Hopewell and Lilian Bungo and husband Andy, Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four beautiful great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Barna, Sr.; a daughter, Barbara Ann Barna; three brothers, Joe, Steve, and John Srafin and three sisters, Josephine Golmic, Ann Janocha and Helen Domitrovich.

Mary was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.

The Christian Mother’s will meet in the funeral home on Teusday at 3:00pm to provide a rosary service.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to St. Titus Catholic Church, 952 Franklin Ave, Aliquippa, PA 15001.

KEVIN J. “COYOTE” CIOTTI

Kevin J. “Coyote” Ciotti, 49, of Beaver Falls, passed away Wednesday December 31, 2003 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born March 13, 1954 a son of the late John A. and Mary Jane (Laria) Ciotti, he was raised in Center Twp. and Beaver Falls. He was a 1972 graduate of Beaver Falls High School.

Kevin was known to many people in his life as an avid pool shooter and skilled carpenter.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lee Ciotti, and his son Benjamin John Ciotti, both of West Mayfield. A brother, Mark Ciotti, San Diego, CA; a sister Lydia Ciotti, Roundup, MT; a sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Greg Fosnaught, Center Twp. Kevin is also survived by several nieces, great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Friends will be received Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa where a blessing service will be held.

Alice Valiga

Alice Valiga, 77, of Aliquippa, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2004 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born April 20, 1926 in Rochester, a daughter of the late James and Aphrodite Gianiodis, she was a member of the St. George Byzantine Catholic Church. She retired from P.M. Moore, where she worked as a secretary for over 25 years. Alice was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two sons, James Valiga and wife Annette, Ambridge and Richard Valiga, Aliquippa; five beautiful grandchildren, Jody Murphy and husband Brenden, Donegal, PA, Michael Valiga, Aliquippa, James Valiga, Freedom, John Valiga, Ambridge and Katie Valiga, Ambridge; a sister, Irene Gartley and husband Carl, Aliquippa; two nephews Carl and Billy Gartley, Hopewell and a niece, Karen Gartley, Hopewell. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Valiga, Jr.; a sister, Mary Stakias; a niece Sandy Stakias and a nephew, Theodore Stakias.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a Panichida service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30am. A funeral service will follow at 10am in the St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, Aliquippa, with her pastor, Elias O’Brien officiating.

Parastas (blessing service) will be held on Tuesday at 7pm in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
