Claire C. Allar
Claire C. Allar, 87, of Tremont, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born in Branchdale, Oct. 30, 1917, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Gehris Brennan.

She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Newtown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis.

Surviving are three sons, John Allar of Bellefonte, William Allar of Tremont, and Francis Allar of Pottsville; a sister, Ursula Brennan of Hamburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass was celebrated Friday, Feb. 25, at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. David Loeper. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church Newtown-Zerbe, Tremont, PA 17981. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, was in charge of arrangements.

Genevieve M. Arndt
Genevieve M. Shultz Arndt, 86, of Valley View, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Richland, Lebanon County, Jan. 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Alice Frantz Shultz. After the death of her parents, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Charles and Ella Marks.

She was a retired garment worker at Keystone Weaving Mills, Lebanon, where she was employed for 40 years. Following her retirement from the weaving mills, she was a corrections officer for 10 years at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hamlin.

She was a member of the Rural Security Fire Company Auxiliary, Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel E. Arndt, May 19, 1975. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Haubenstine of Valley View; five grandchildren, Cherie Kaufman, Beth Barto, Dawn McGrath, Dana High, and Devan Wenner; a sister-in-law, Marie Shultz of Baltimore, Md.; 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1263, Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will be in Klopp's Union Cemetery, Fredricksburg. Christman's Funeral Home Inc., Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.

Steven C. Bader
Steven Craig Bader, 47, of Valley View, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born in San Diego, CA, August 3, 1957, he was a son of Albert A. and Betty L. Hubler Bader of Valley View.

He served in the United States Navy.

He was employed as a material handler at Big Lots, Tremont.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Valley View Fire Company.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two daughters, Brandy L. Bader of Summerville, SC, and Alyesha C. Kaufman of Ashland; two brothers, Albert A. Bader, Jr. of Milton, and Richard K. Bader of Easton; two sisters, Lynda L. Huhn of Valley View, and Teresa A. Deibert of Hegins; and two grandchildren.

Private services were held at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

G. Virginia Bower
G. Virginia Bower, 82, of Halifax, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Kepler Home, Elizabethville.
Born in Harrisburg, January 10, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Clifford S. and Margaret Hoffman Miller.

She was a member of Valley's UCC in Halifax. Past member and officer of the former Lloyd Williams American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 648; current member of Steven R. Day American Legion Auxiliary No. 326, Millersburg; lifetime member of Halifax Area Ambulance and Rescue Association.

Graduate and valedictorian of Halifax High School class of 1940 and a graduate of Central Penn Business School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. "Hennie" Bower; a son, Dr. J. David Bower of Long Valley, NJ; and brother, Clifford S. Miller, Jr. of Millersburg.

Surviving are four sons, Ronald D. of Gettysburg, Robert E. of Halifax, Dr. James H. of Elizabethville, and Michael L. of Halifax; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, Feb. 25, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, with the Rev. Kristine Heckard officiating.

Donations may be made to Valley's UCC, P.O. Box H, Halifax, PA 17032. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

John R. Bressler
John R. Bressler, 81, of Millersburg, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at his home.
He retired in 1983 from Conrail, after 43 years of service. He had served as an Elder in the Mechanicsburg Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, also the Belleview, FL Congregation and more recently in the Elizabethville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; four sons; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mechanicsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to his Congregation, 2 Willow Mill Park Road and Rt. 114, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or to Hospice of Central PA, 98 S. Enola Drive, P.O. Box 266, Enola, PA 17025-0266.

Earl W. Kauffman
Earl W. Kauffman, 91, of Tower City, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born in Tower City, Sept. 27, 1913, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Mary Thompson Kauffman.

He was self-employed as a barber until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton, and Swatara Lodge 267 F&AM.;

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, the former Millie Woll, in 2003; two brothers, Ralph and Karle; two sisters, Ruth Coates and Evelyn Shell.

Surviving are a son, Jack E. of Quakertown; a daughter, Jill M. Rabuck of Tower City; two brothers, Clyde of Wyoming, and Floyd of Ohio; four grandchildren, Erin Arva and Alex, Kate and Nick Kauffman.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arthur Sonnenberg will officiate. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, RD Tower City.

Memorial donations may be made to Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries, Office of Advancements, 798 Hausman Road, Allentown, PA 18104. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret A. Martz
Margaret Alice Martz, 95, of Millersburg, formerly of Dalmatia and Klingerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born in Berrysburg, March 22, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Grace Rebuck Klinger. She was a retired machine operator from the former Muskin Shoe Co., Millersburg. She was a member of the Malta Church, Malta; and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Millersburg Moose.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Schwalm; her second husband, Daniel Martz; a son, Lawrence Schwalm; two sisters, Maude Brosious and Helen Brosious; and two brothers, Clair Klinger and Guy Kessler.

Surviving are a son, Leroy Schwalm of Klingerstown; two daughters, Elsie Lentz of Halifax, and Norma Schwalm of Millersburg; two step-sons, William Martz of Belfonte, and Fred Martz of Jersey Shore; a step-daughter, Evelyn Brockman of Fairbanks, Alaska; and two sisters, Martha Russell of Millersburg, and Eleanor Hoffman of Gratz.

Religious services will be held Wednesday, March 2, at 11 a.m. from Zion 'Klinger's' United Lutheran Church, Erdman. Friends may call Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Klinger's Church Cemetery, Erdman.

James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, is in charge of arrangements.

Eva R. Miller
Eva Reva Miller, 98, formerly of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Menno Haven Inc., Chambersburg.
Born in Norristown, Dec. 29, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary Schneck Klinger.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, and had been a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George C., who died in 1936; a sister, Hannah M. Klinger; and a grandson, Charles Miller.

Surviving are a daughter, Dolores Zimmerman of Pine Grove; two sons, George H. of Hagerstown, Md., and Vincent of Friedensburg; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua, with the Rev. Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating.

Contributions may be sent to Menno Haven Inc., 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201, in her memory. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove was in charge of arrangements.

Pauline F. Miller
Pauline F. Miller, 86, of Halifax, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Washington Twp., March 12, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Wertz Stoneroad.

She was a member of Miller's Church Halifax. She was retired factory worker at Willits Shoe factory Halifax.

She preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Miller; and by a son Gerald.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Hoffman of Halifax; son, William Miller of Ottumwa, IA; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

Services were held Friday, Feb. 25, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, with the Rev. Michael Petresky officiating. Interment was in Miller's Church Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of S. Central PA, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy 'Dottie' Mitch
Dorothy 'Dottie' Mitch, 88, of Orlando, FL, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005.
She was a daughter of the late Herbert Dunleavy and Maude Shade Hoke of Spring Glen.

She was a retired seamstress from Curtis Mfg. Co., retiring in 1981.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Mitch, who died in 1973.

Surviving are a brother, Clayton Hoke of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Violet Herb of Pitman and Mary Clark of Salisbury, MD; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Betty G. Morgan
Betty Grace Morgan, 79, of Hegins, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Barry Township, May 31, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Katie Facer Carl.

She retired as a seamstress from Katrice Manufacturing, Williamstown.

She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, and a lifelong member of International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Shad" who died Nov. 22, 1999; a daughter, Judy, in 1943; a son, Elvin D., in 2004; four brothers, Edward, Percey, Lewis and Thomas Carl; three sisters, Mary Klinger, Verna Lucas and Tillie Sankus.

Surviving are two sons, Leonard and Barry Morgan, both of Hegins; a daughter, Doris Morgan of Valley View; two sisters, Gloria Stine of Ashland, and Beatrice Kukuk of Pitman; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Andrew's Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Danis officiating. Interment was in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.

Donations may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
