Gilbert Fehr
Gilbert Fehr, 95, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at home.
Born in Washington Township, May 3, 1909, he was a son of the late Sallie Fehr.

He had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation until retiring in 1965. He was also a farmer.

He was a member of Manbeck's Church, Rock, and had been a charter member of the Rock Fish & Game Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Verna G. Clements, on October 22, 1992; a brother, Lester, on July 12, 1987.

Surviving are a niece and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove. The Rev. Lance Mills will officiate. Interment will be in Manbeck's Cemetery, Rock. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Shannon E. Garner
Shannon E. Garner, 29, of Tower City, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Hershey Medical Center, after an accidental drowning at her home that evening.
Born in Pottsville on October 2, 1974, she was a daughter of Franklin and Bonnie K. Witmer Ruch of Tower City and the late Jerry Light.

She was a graduate of Williams Valley School District and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City.

Surviving in addition to her parents, are her husband, Jason A., to whom she was married 8 years on June 7; her son, Nace A. and her daughter, Nakayla M., both at home; two brothers, Eric Ruch of Wiconisco and Von Ruch of Georgia; her maternal grandmother, Mae Gongloff Witmer of Tower City; paternal grandmother, Gertrude McAllister of Missouri; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 22, from the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City R.D.

Memorial donations may be made to the Garner Family Fund, c/o Community Banks, Route 209, Tower City, PA 17980. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.

Toby J. Herring
Toby James Herring, 25, of Tremont, died Friday, June 18, 2004, as a result of an automobile accident in Tremont Township.
Born in Pottsville, June 17, 1979, he was a son of Darlene A. Seiger Herring, Tower City, and Robert L. Herring, Kissimmee, FL.

He was a member of United Steel Workers, Sharpshooters Dart Team of Tremont, and Legion Pool League.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his fiancee of five years, Nikki Leinninger, with whom he resided; a son, Toby James Herring Jr., at home; a sister, Trisha Marie Herring of Fort Myers, FL; two step sisters, Kayla and Elizabeth Goodwin; a niece and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, from the Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, with the Rev. Liddy Howard officiating. Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, is in charge of arrangements.

Andrew Juritsko
Andrew Juritsko, 83, of Tremont, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Branchdale, August 27, 1920, he was a son of the late John and Mary Leyko Juritsko. He was a graduate of the former Reilly Township High School.

He was a retired coal miner from the former Mercury Coal Co., Donaldson.

He was a member of the Little Run Sportsman's Club, Tremont, Newtown Fire Company and was a former member of the Tremont Sewer Authority. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Voters Hall of Fame after voting in at least 50 consecutive general elections.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda E. Juritsko, in 1946; a brother, John; four sisters, Margaret Adams, Annie Karmazin and two who died in infancy.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Alma L. Neal; a son, Andrew G. of Donaldson; three daughters, Patricia Cleary of Pine Grove, Susan Scheib of Tower City, and Judy Graver of Zerbe; two sisters, Betty Holland of Branchdale, and Helen Lodge of Reading; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont. Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Greek Catholic Cemetery, Llewellyn.

Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, is in charge of arrangements.

Earl W. Kendig
Earl W. "Wild Bill" Kendig, 83, of Tower City, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the home of his daughter, Jacqueline E. Wenrich, Tower City.
Born and raised in Jonestown, September 2, 1920, he was a son of the late Ralph M. and Carrie Dubble Kendig.

He was a Navy veteran.

He was a retired civil engineer at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville.

He was of the Protestant faith, and a life member of the American Legion, VFW, Perservence Club, Navy Club, Orwin Gun Club, Orwin Fire Company and Muir Fire Company. He was a life member of the Camp Strauss Fish and Game, and the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elsie A. Kaster on June 21, 1992, and a sister, Sara Leary.

Surviving are another daughter, Christine M. Kendig of Lancaster; a sister, Carolyn Herr of Elizabethtown; a brother, Theodore of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren whom he helped to raise, Robert Stager, Billie Gibson and Andrea Duhon; six additional grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will also be private at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Anna P. Koperna
Anna P. Moyer Schwartz Koperna, 95, of Schuylkill Haven, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Summit Station, April 5, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian Brown Moyer.

She was employed as a sewing machine operator at Summit Station Manufacturing, Pine Grove.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Friedensburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on July 9, 1987; two brothers, Guy Moyer and Lewis "Pete" Moyer; a great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Butler.

Surviving are a daughter, Fern B. Krause of Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Sara Reber of Pine Grove; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 21, from H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Paul Buzzard officiating. Interment was in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Steven E. Reho
Steven E. Reho, 62, of Tower City, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Born in Williamstown, December 6, 1941, he was a son of the late Joseph Jr. and Ruby Pinkerton Reho.

He was employed as a group leader at Tyco, Lickdale. He was also a retired coal miner.

He was an Army veteran having served as a courier.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, Williamstown American Legion No. 239 and a life member of the Gratz VFW.

Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia A. Mione; four daughters, Kimberly Schreiner, Katie Adams and Kristina Reho, all of Tower City, Kelly Reho, Hershey; a sister, Julia "Gert" Reho, Williamstown; a brother, Joseph III, Williamstown; four grandchildren; a great grandson.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., is in charge of arrangements.

M. Isabel Romberger
M. Isabel Romberger, 86, of Lykens, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
Born in Valley View, September 17, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Jenny Snyder Schwalm.

She was a former farmer, local factory worker and a retired letter carrier.

She was a lifetime member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, and a member of the former Lykens Valley Grange as well as the state and national Grange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. John, in 1980; three sisters, Edith Rosenbluth, Bertha Goudy and Florence Morgan; two brothers, Calvin and Henry Schwalm.

Surviving are a daughter, Marie Runkle of Sellersville; a sister, Jane Curran of Levittown; three brothers, Wayne Schwalm of Mineral Wells, TX, Fred Schwalm of Valley View, and Bruce Schwalm of Petersburg, VA.; two grandchildren; a great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George S. Reynolds officiating. Interment was in Simeon's Cemetery, Gratz.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, PO Box 221, Valley View, PA 17983. Miller-Berger Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

Edna Mae Snyder
Edna Mae Snyder, 92, of Pine Grove, died Friday, June 18, 2004, in the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Rock, March 19, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Trumbo Ditzler.

She was a former tax collector in Pine Grove, She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, Pine Grove, where she had been a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She was also a member of the Ladies Aid Missionary Society, a Gold Star Widow, a member of the former Pine Grove American Legion Post 374 Ladies Auxiliary, the former Pine Grove VFW Post 3432 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Pine Grove Senior Citizens.

She had been employed as a seamstress at the former Summit Station Manufacturing, Pine Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O., who was killed in action February 22, 1945, in Rolsdorf, Germany; two sisters, Beatrice Fry and Dorothea Ditzler; four brothers, Charles, Alvin, Norman and Ivan Ditzler.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan Lehman; two sons, Jack I. Snyder and Kenneth C. Snyder, all of the Pine Grove area; a sister, Jean Smith of Tremont; nine grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; 18 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 25, from the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Richard Kohl officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.

Raymond A. Wawrzyniakowski
Raymond A. Wawrzyniakowski, 76, of Johns Creek, Suwanee, Ga., died Saturday, June 12, 2004. He was a resident in Pennsylvania for 40 years.
He was a son of the late Andrew and Helen Wawrzyniakowski.

He was a World War II veteran and received the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupational Medal in Germany.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Ralph of Tower City; Raymond of Lexington, N.C., and Roy of Cummins, Ga.; a daughter, Mary Weitzel of Suwanee; five grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, June 21, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment was in Suwanee View Gardens. Byars Funeral Home, Cummins, Ga. was in charge of arrangements.

Charles C. Welker
Charles C. 'Chals' Welker, 79, formerly of Lykens, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born at Lykens, he was a son of the late William and Emma Shoop Welker.

He was a 1942 graduate of the former Lykens High School and an Army veteran of World War II.

He had been employed at the former Schaffstall Hardware Store 25 years and retired from Reiff & Nestor Co., both in Lykens.

He was a member of Lykens United Methodist Church; Ashlar Lodge No 570 F&AM; , Lykens; Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest No. 125, Millersburg; Harrisburg Consistory; life member of Liberty Hose Co. No. 2, Lykens; member of Dauphin County Volunteer Fireman's Association; and American legion Post o. 124, Lykens.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Faye L. Shomper Welker; a son Thomas Welker of Elizabethville; two brothers, Ken Welker of Lykens, and Harold Welker of Carsonville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at his church, followed by Ashlar Lodge services and Liberty Hose Co. services. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Keith J. Schmuck officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 527 North Second St., Lykens, PA 17048. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, is in charge of arrangements.
