Allen E. Miller, Sr.
Allen Elwood Miller, Sr., 83, of Elizabethville, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

Born in Gratz September 3, 1919, he was a son of the late James and Martha Miller Miller.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Edward Miller.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen Morgan Miller; two sons, Allen Miller, Jr. of Dalmatia, and Clair Miller of Elizabethville; two daughter, June Adams, and Ruby Shaffer, both of RD Herndon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Lewis Leeper officiating. Visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in St. Andrew's cemetery, Valley View. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is handling arrangements.

Riley I. Orowski-Kreiser
Riley Isaiah Orowski-Kreiser, infant son of Keith R. Kreiser, Jr., and Brooke N. Orowski of Tower City, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Michael Orowski.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Keith and May Kreiser, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Michael J. Orowski and Robyn Reed; paternal great-grandparents, Veronica and Edward Darosh; maternal great-grandparents, Roxanne Alleman, and Joan Orowski.

Graveside services were held Saturday, July 19, at Our Lady help of Christians Catholic cemetery, Lykens, with Fr. Robert S. Panza officiating. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.

Rahn L. Hottenstein, M.D.
Rahn L. Hottenstein, M.D., 86, of Halifax, died Sunday, July 19, 2003, at home.
Born in Millersburg, he was a son of the late D.E. Hottenstein, M.D., and Lucinda Luckenbill Hottenstein.

He was a graduate of Millersburg High School, Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He served an internship at Harrisburg Hospital before entering the service in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II, in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he returned to Millersburg to join his father and late brother Henry, and late sister, Esther in practice. He then started his own practice on North Street, until his retirement in 1979.

He was a member of Trinity UCC in Millersburg and the American Medical Society.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Messner Hottenstein; a daughter, Carol Parker of Russell's Point, OH; a son, Jonathan E. Hottenstein, M.D., of Sewickley; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family, at Oak Hill cemetery, Millersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 235 Center Street, Millersburg, PA 17061; The Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art, P.O. Box 33, Millersburg, PA 17061; or the MAAA Gallery on the Square, 226 Union Street, Millersburg, PA 17061.

Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements.

Michael A. Holland
Michael A. Holland, 42, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at home.

Born in Willits, Calif., May 10, 1961, he was a son of Marion Ward Holland, Des Arc, Ark., and the late Melvin Holland. He was a 1979 graduate of Viola High School, Arkansas.

He was an SP4 in the Army, serving in Korea and Hawaii for three years each, and in New Zealand with HHC, 1st Battalion, 40th Artillery, 5th Infantry Division. He received the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievements Medal, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon.

He was employed as a truck driver.

He was a member of Harley Owner's Group (HOG) and North American Veritile Hunting Dog Association.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 12 years, the former Amy Carlin; and two sisters, Marilyn Bourg and Carol Martin, both of Louisiana.

Services were held at the convenience of the family. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary E. Heffner
Mary E. Heffner, 80, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.

Born in Chester, March 6, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Eva A. Durborrow Wilkin. She received a bachelor's degree in music from West Chester University.

She taught music privately and primary music in first and second grades in Reading.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, and its choir.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her husband, Harold L.; and a daughter, Diane Heffner, Boston, Mass.

H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence N. Headdings
Clarence N. Headings, 78, of RR 1, Herndon, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Sunbury Community Hospital, Sunbury.

Born at Greenbriar, July 13, 1925, he was a son of the late George W. and Millie Kline Headdings. He was educated in the Upper Mahanoy Township schools.

He was a retired truck driver, having been employed by Central Builders Supply Co., Sunbury, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ Church, Urban, RR 1, Herndon; and the Teamsters Union.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Paul; and four brothers, Marvin, Charles, and Mark Headdings.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Helen E. Miller Headdings; a son, Kim E. of RD, Dalmatia; two sisters, Norma Wenrich of Spring Glen and Gladys Cooper of RD Millersburg; three brothers, Woodrow of Camp Hill, Gene of RD, Lykens, and Dallas of RD, Dalmatia; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 22, from St. Paul's United Church of Christ Church, Urban, RR 1, Herndon, with the Rev. David Walthour officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ Church, RR 1, Box 1615, Urban, RR 1, Herndon, 17830. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Deitrich
Robert Deitrich of Aurora, CO, formerly of Pitman, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in St. John's Hospice, Denver, CO.

Born in Pitman, May 24, 1933, he was a son of the late Thomas and Blanche Wetzel Deitrich.

He retired as a Captain of the US Air Force after 28 years of service. He was also a retired real estate broker.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Lillie Semerod Deitrich; two daughters, Linda Iriye and Lois Spiegel, both of Aurora, CO; a brother, Marvin Deitrich of Klingerstown; a sister, Delores Godlewski of Etters; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 16, at the All Saints Lutheran Church in Aurora. A military service will be held at Fort Logan Military cemetery in Colorado on July 28.

Francis A. Breslin
Francis A. Breslin, 76, of Honeysuckle Court, Swatara Village, Pine Grove, died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Mount Carmel, Sept. 18, 1926, he was a son of the late Francis and Margaret Hannon Haggerty Breslin. He was a 1947 graduate of Butler Township High School.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company C, 97th Infantry Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. He received the American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He had been employed as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines from 1956 until retiring in 1988.

He was a member of American Legion Post 22 and Elks Club, both of Northglenn, Colo.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Theresa Breslin and Marie Reichwein; five brothers, Anthony Breslin and James, Thomas, Edward and John Haggerty.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Doris M. Kahler; a son, James, Lewes of Del.; a daughter, Rita Buckley of Lebanon; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 15, at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville. The Rev. David Pierce officiated. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Martha P. Wertz
Martha P. "Pauline" Wertz, 90, of Millersburg died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at the Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg.

She was the daughter of the late Pharos Jerome and Ada Mary Groff Keiter, having been born on January 10, 1913.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren W. Wertz; a son, Donald Wertz; brother, Charles Keiter; and sister, Flora M. Holtzman.

Surviving are a son, Rudy L. Wertz, whom she resided of Millersburg; a son, Henry L. Wertz of Millersburg; a sister, Carrie G. Deitrich of Lykens; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Hoover Funeral Home, Inc., Millersburg, on Monday, July 14, with Rev. Gary Becker officiating. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Enders. Hoover Funeral Home, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Leslie W. Wenrich
Dr. Leslie W. Wenrich, 67, of Tower City, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.

Born in Barry Township, May 11, 1936, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wenrich.
He was the owner of the Leslie W. Wenrich Chiropractic Office, Tower City, for more than 37 years and in Lickdale for more than 10 years.

He received his doctorate degree in chiropractic medicine from Palmer College, Iowa.

He was of the Protestant faith and a member of Porter-Tower Lions Club and Moose Lodge 1603, Tower City.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Carol Wenrich.

Surviving are his second wife, the former Jacqueline E. Kendig, to whom he was married 23 years; five sons, Randy of Orwin, Brian of Virginia, Robert Stager of Jonestown, Keith DeTemple of Lebanon, and Kerry DeTemple of North Carolina; seven daughters, Penny Beller of Maryland, Beth Burgess of Florida, Christy Simpson of Tower City, Lynda Carlson of Illinois, Billie Gibson of Orwin, Andrea Duhon of South Carolina, and Robin Long of Poconos; two brothers, Harold and Dennis, both of Ashland; two sisters, Joyce Miller of Florida, and Ruth Smith of Danville; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Celebration of life service were held Saturday, July 12, at Porter-Tower Lions Club, Tower City. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret L. Rhoads
Margaret L. Rhoads, 77, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.

Born November 12, 1925 in Millersburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Margaret L. Martz Reed.

She graduated from Millersburg High School. She retired from the Department of Labor and Industry, Harrisburg, in 1988 with over 18 years of service as a clerk; was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Millersburg; a member of Millersburg American Legion Auxiliary; Millersburg Penn Pals; Conservation Group of Millersburg; Millersburg Community Partners; Volunteer for Recovery from Cancer (ACS); and Millersburg Senior Citizens, where she served as president for six years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Dusty" Rhoads, who died in 1968; and a daughter, Georgia A. Rhoads-Fetterhoff.
Surviving are a son, Kirby E. Rhoads of Millersburg; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Religious services were held Saturday, July 12, from Reinhard Funeral Home, Millersburg. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery, Millersburg.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Dauphin Unit, 1500 North Second Street, Harrisburg, 17102. Reinhard Funeral Home, Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Ned W. Reedy
Ned W. Reedy, 71, of Tower City, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at his home.

Born in Tower City January 4, 1932, he was a son of the late Henry and Ella Miller Reedy.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton.

Surviving are two sisters, Doris R. Hopple and Jean M. Keisling, both of Tower City; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, with Rev. Arthur Sonnenberg officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's cemetery, Orwin.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, Wiconisco Street, Tower City, 17980. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.
